7 Ways Nigerian Bosses Abuse Their Staff by eljayson(m): 5:48am On Nov 23, 2016 |
Almost every employee working in Nigeria would agree that at some point or the other, their bosses have abused their rights as employees. Looking at the Nigerian Labour culture, everyone would agree that as much as NLC can strike all they want when it comes to fuel price and others, those working in the private sector are like lambs waiting for slaughter and any employee can catch the boot or become a victim of abuse anytime from the boss, and nothing would happen. The Oga Oga mentality has literally turned employers and superior staff into slavemasters, having them act like gods in the light of the prevalent unemployment rate in the company. This is because of the almost non-existent enforceable labour laws protecting the rights of employees, and the absolute inability of most policemen to protect the masses in the face of an oga's superior position. Abuse of employees has come to stay, and unless the government sits down on the neck of private employers and tightens the laws protecting the employees, many people would continue to suffer. Below are some ways Nigerian bosses abuse their staff, on a regular. 1. Owing of salary for long periods of time.: Many employees of HIPTV can tell a tale or two about this, especially during the Christmas period. 2. Firing at short notice and without severance pay. 3. Corporate bullying and unprofessional manners of addressing staff 4. Lack of proper health insurance 5. Working them overtime and without extra pay 6. Defamation of character upon end of working relationship See detailed explanation of these points, highlighting the intricacies and depth of this abuse, with different stories shared by people who have experienced it. https://soundcloud.com/user-342064193/7-ways-nigerian-bosses-abuse-their-staff The list is endless and unless the government tightens the labour laws protecting employees, Nigerians would continue to suffer under these evil bosses and no one would do anything about it. 15 Likes 4 Shares

I DEDICATE THIS FTC TO EVERY EMPLOYER WHO WAS ONCE AN EMPLOYEE AND EVERY EMPLOYEE WHO HOPES TO BECOME AN EMPLOYER. It's the Nigeria factor... Employees do also abuse their bosses directly and indirectly. Some Employees are very rude to Clients and customers, and most times you will be shocked to see that the boss of such a rude employee is a very humble person. And then some bosses really have a bad Attitude and are very abusive and exploitative. Funny Enough, most of these employees who cry foul,WOULD DO THE SAME THING if they were in that position of a boss... And most of those Abusive bosses went through the same Abuse when they were employees. MY ADVICE TO BOTH EMPOWERS AND EMPLOYEES: MR.EMPLOYER, TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEE LIKE YOUR FIRST AND ONLY CUSTOMER... MR. EMPLOYEE, HANDLE YOUR EMPLOYER'S BUSINESS LIKE YOUR OWN... IF THIS POST DOESN'T GO DOWN WELL WITH YOU.. SIMPLY SACK YOUR BOSS AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS BECAUSE IT REQUIRES NO CAPITAL. 48 Likes 4 Shares |

[b]So true... One thing we don't want to happen to us in this recession is to get jobs and not get paid, not have health insurance or being slapped each morning by our bosses. For new graduates seeking jobs, this is important. |

Employees being abused by their Employers like the writer rightly stated is a norm in our country. Like I was thought, I don't go discussing problems when I have highlighted one or better say discovered one. I look for solutions, I dwell on solutions inorder to remedy the situation. If your boss abuses you, kindly give yourself a time frame in that office. Make budgets, look for other alternatives. Don't just sit there and manage. Employers have also discovered how complacent employees can be even when they are abused hence they take advantage of that. When you are abused, politely speak up to avert it's recurrence in the future. If you gulp it, definitely it will come again and again and in different forms and shapes. You are not a slave in that office, you have an option. Even if you think your whole family depend on you, what if you are fired? Do the right thing by saving yourself. You have an option, use it wisely. Thanks 21 Likes 2 Shares |

IMPORTANT WARNIG Please, beware of dangers and beware of strangers asking for directions or questions. They are kidnappers for ritual cultists. Don't escort anyone to anywhere to visit anybody. Beware of agents of evil doers looking for dumb people to use for human rituals. Warn members of your family, relations and friends. Be safe! Stay alive for the Glory of God. Amen. 6 Likes |

Lol. Everything in Nigeria is a miracle to get admission miracle to graduate after 4 years miracle to get employed miracle for your employers to give you your entitlements and salary THAT YOU WORKED FOR O not dash money - miracle. You will even beg, prostrate ,lobby to collect YOUR OWN SALARY As a matter of fact that your boss paid you your salary in Nigeria is a privilege In Nigeria every thing has been so basterdized. Nigeriand have been so abused, trampled under, enslaved and used that they don't even know hence the aggressive behaviour on the roads when driving which is even a symptom of depression and pain living and working in a toxic environment like Nigeria. Imagine working in a company and you're promised heaven and earth at the end of the month it's stories and excuses you get why your salary hasn't been paid Then you get home no light. You meet a nagging wife telling you how she was better In her fathers house and how you married her to suffer her .the kids come home to tell you THE school management didn't allow them sit for exams because you haven't paid their school fees Your landlord comes demanding for his money for house rent Nepa Bill is there you will still pay for the light you hardly use Lawma bill is there You drive on the road you have to have 6 eyes.2 in front another 2 at the back and two by the sides so that mad road users don't bash your car and besides the police guys stationed on the road to ensure smooth driving on the roads are either jisting away or eating or reading news paper and could care less if your car is bashed or theres traffic congestion or an accident.so you have to be extra watchful so you dont have to pay from an irregular and unstable income to fix your car Even commercial drivers will park on the road to pick passengers and cause more traffic and delay for others going to work because they just don't care and know police cannot do anything about it because the police don't care as long as money has changed hands You still have to buy fuel to fuel your generator and do basic things yet YOU wonder why Nigerians are so angry frustrated and aggressive. The answer is not far from you.we live in a toxic and frustrated society and you wonder why churches are so full every Sunday with people looking for hope miracle job husband wife children etc Actually the church is now the last hope for Nigerians that's why fake pastors aka buisness men are maximizing that opportunity to enrich themselves So you see all these things are a vicious cycle. We're gradually degenerating into Thomas Hobbes description of the state OF nature Living with all these daily challenges that has become a way of life there's no how your life span won't be shorter, you won't fall sick ,depressed, narcissistic or even go gaga Efemena Cococandy chullisauce Oya con put mouth 13 Likes 3 Shares |
