Omo credit card is good in a way. With Discover they give u higher limits than banks. Presently, I am owing $660 from my fees and I don't have money to pay. Credit card gives me the opportunity to pay up and register for next semester. Then when I get paid from my GA job next semester, I pay back my credit card outstanding. Credit card is not to spend on unnecessary stuffs, if not na gbese

Hello, everyone.. i have been following this trend for a while now, and i must say this forum helped me a lot in getting my f1 visa this morning at the Lagos consulate...

my interview was for 6 30am today .. fast forward to the transcript cos i no sabi talk too much

me; good morning with a wonderful smile
vo; are you going to study too? *frowns face* like say i dey owe am..

me: yes i am * i frown my on face too* looking straight into her eyes
vo; what school and course

me; business administration with a concentration in international business.. at Lincoln university Oakland California
vo; why international business?

me; well i work in a very competitive organization, and for anyone to get a promotion you would need an added educational qualification, i want the best for my self and since i already have a bs.c in business admin i decided to stay in my area of interest.

vo; why this school?
me; it was recommended to me by a prof in my the university were i had my bs.c and also the tuition is very much inline with my mums budget for my studies..

vo; what school
me; HNAUB

vo; what does your mum do?
me; she is a business woman, she has a manufacturing company the deals on plastic chairs, tables , plumbing pipes, and also sales and distribution of building materials..

vo; have you traveled outside of Nigeria before
me; yes to the UK

vo; are you married;
me; no

vo; any child?
me; no

vo; do you stay with your parents presently
me; yes i do

vo; OK i would be approving your visa* at this point i didn't hear nothing again, *my ears went on auto deafness.* passes my i-20 to me and the white paper..
me; Thank you.. na so i bounce commot

no documents asked. i didn't write any single exam, my GP IN SCHOOL was 2.50/4.. i did everything with faith and i didn't put all my hope on the visa, so i was very relaxed even in the midst of the denials, i still composed my self, looked straight into her eyes from start to finish.. in all, confidence is the key ,yes i was nervous when i started seeing blue paper from left to right, but i stayed calm, and i spoke with so much confidence and am sure no single person behind me heard my transcript cos i didn't have to shout to impress the vo i spoke my mind and that did it for me... am only 23 but i am over 6ft and i look way older than my age. i think that played a Little in me being calm and relaxed...

please anyone going to lincoln uni in Oakland or California , abeg kindly holla at me..

once again a very big thank you to you all, God bless you all bountifully . i am really grateful

Congratulations
I feel key to confidence is been truthful..

Wrong question! Try asking: How does masters admissions work in the US, especially for International students (e.g. Nigerians)?

QUICK TIP!!!

This is for those who want to write strong letters of motivation. I figured a way that might work if executed properly. I wanted to transfer from my department into another department which to be honest, I don't think I'm very qualified for. What did I do? I scheduled an appointment with the department's Graduate Coordinator. I went to her office and I asked her questions about the department. I asked stuff like how ranked the department is in the US, what the course is really like especially the courses students are mostly scared to take, placement of recent graduates and what they went on to do with their lives, I asked if they admitted students with backgrounds from totally different disciplines and the chance of getting in (and if so, what are they really considering from such students), what the department was moving towards in terms of development, etc. It was a trap cheesy She told me everything about the department, what they're looking for, was indirectly bragging about how this and that, etc. Lobatan.

I went back home, and composed a letter of motivation. I wrote about myself in a way that plugged into everything that was going on in that department. I personalized everything she told me and made it look like that's what I'm really looking for. Don't want to go into much details, but I really wrote it in a way that reflected all she told me during our meeting. Even my future plans mirrored what most of their recent graduates went on to do. I picked particular interest in that course she said many people didn't like haha cheesy I submitted my application on Monday, Tuesday afternoon, they had already made a decision and she asked for another appointment to come so she'd show me around again and get me more familiar with the department. Na my $255 Paco Rabanne perfume work that one, She wan see baba again cheesy

Now, how to execute this plan. I think you should call the grad coordinator of the department you want to gain admission into. If possible, schedule an appointment via email and let it be a convenient time for them to talk. If you can't call, email could work too. Have a list of questions to ask. The point is to get them to tell you about the department, about the students already in the department, what they're really looking for, what students have gone on to do with their lives after school, etc. Get them to talk, talk, talk. After the conversation, carry your fingers and write a letter that's going to plug into the scope.

Don't know if this makes any sense, I rushed it. Apologies for any typos and incoherence. Cold wan finish my fingers. it's 24F/-4C here. Bye.

Good day to everyone in the house....I have a very special case and would appreciate all the Input I can get....I'm 26 and would love to go for a diploma or undergraduate studies in the US...only qualification I have is WAEC which was done in 2005...I would love to know what my chances of getting a school and a visa are ?? Looking forward to your responses

@texrem
2005? It's been over 10 years now. You are clearly an intending immigrant and your chances are very, very slim but you could scale through if you've got a good work experience and coupled with some family ties like property, self-sponsorship and so on.

Good day everyone!
Please I wanna ask a little question. After filling applications to the schools and paying all application fees, in the case that admission decision is made, will I receive my I-20 right away from all schools that offered me admission, or will I be required to pay enrollment fees before an I-20 can be generated? Thanks everyone

Too helpful! Thanks. Curious though: why do you want to leave your department anyway? Plus, how would you handle credits transfer?

All the best!

No, some of us have only one school in mind, and only applied to others to "satisfy all righteousness". I'd just advise that you say it as it is, if you say "none", they might interprete it to mean that you've purposefully researched your career plans, and reasoned out that they would be the best fit.

Or it might mean that you couldn't take enough initiative to apply elsewhere, as you're not really sure you could be admitted. I guess this second case applies to getting student visas. Whichever way, whatever you say here would be used in context of other parts of your app (see SoP, LORs and others).

@ bolded, No. At least, in most cases. If you've been admitted, the school's International Office would check if you got any form of funding with the admit. If yes, they will calculate and give you a heads up if there's a balance you need to come up with, or it was full funding. If you'd need to pay, they would ask that you send a credible document to show that you can pay for the first year, at least. So, you won't need to actually pay, but it's better to have the cash stashed up somewhere, and show them an evidence.

Thereafter, you'll get your I-20.

Hope I haven't confused you the more. . .

When you have gotten your boarding pass, look for Travellex office at the airport, and go there sharpaly.
Tell them you want to buy dollars, anyway u go don see ppl for queue already. You will fill a form, then show the docs they ask u for (eg. boarding pass, passport wt visa, flight ticket, BVN card, then u will make payment). If you dont hv BVN card, they will still be able to verify ur BVN online. thats not a problem. Although u can go wt d card if u have it.

At what rate can I get the dollar from travelex
Or what is the current exchange rate now at travelex office.
