Typical delusional Nigerians. Lagos and your other cities are so beautiful and rich that your citizens are illegally immigrating to other countries. I feel for South Africa, be vigilant and keep your credit cards hidden is my only advice for South Africans. 10 Likes |

MPSA:I have been to Sandton before, in 2006. Looks like its really grown and changed alot. The white folks there gave us those looks as well, esp after discovering we were non local blacks, the service even changed considerably. Eish, the trouble of living in SA whether as a visitor is having to deal with history every 3 mins of ones existence. In fact, it was so bad for my cousin who happened to be visiting SA some time ago. There happened to be a test match between Springboks and Wallabies when he was attending a work shop in SA. Being a rugby head like myself, and being a Saturday, he was naturally inclined to attend. But alas, he and his equally Rugby mad colleague were manhandled and insulted racially by ordinary white fans and asked to leave the place in no uncertain terms, ticket or none . He only discovered much later that Rugby venues and matches are a bastion and stronghold of white supremacists and its unspoken amongst black folk in your country not to attend such places except as the help. Please SAns its impossible for black outsiders to enjoy your country when made to feel unwelcome. Work on this please, most Africans resident in your land consistently point to these things as a hindrance to the enjoyment of life. 2 Likes |

Nigeria is just backward and one of the reason why sub-saharan is poor and the butt of jokes. I mean you've got all that oil - that changed middle east from desert to what they look like - but nigeria grew into a bigger slum. Infrastructure. Let compare 1) airports. Quick google tells me Nigeria has 26 federal airports with about 15 airstrips (mostly military & oil companies) & two military airports. The main airport in lagos (mohammud or something) I have heard look ghostly. How much does it cost to fly from Lagos to Abuja - about 300 miles - you won't believe it - anything around 250-300usd. Kenya a smaller country and supposeldy with less gdp ( believing nigeria gdp or anything from there require huge leap of faith) has about 60 airports and airstrip - which mostly look more dope, are functional and it dirty cheap to fly from Nairobi to mombasa or kisumu or eldoret - about 300 miles - cost 30 dollars!! It 10 times cheaper to fly in Kenya than in Nigeria - which is awash with oil (fuel is main cost in running an airline) but we know Nigeria doesn't if yet have refinery and normally faces oil shortage - something unheard of in kenya. Just like facing power shortage when you have all the oil - to make huge thermal plants. Go to jambojet.com and book yourself dirty cheap ticket to any kenyan city for less than 30 dollars...something it seem you'll pay 10 times in Nigeria. 6 Likes |

Your words wreak of hatred and ethnocentrism. Weren't there criminals in SA or Kenya before Nigerians started coming there? And what exactly makes you think we need your countries? Get over yourself, most of these countries opening mouth to insult Migeria today would not have the balls to do it if not for Nigerias empowerment. If you feel this strongly about Nigeria, please we beg you, exit the forum. Fakin hater! Jayceon: 1 Like |

Ports - Mombasa port - now fourth busiest sea port in Africa - dealing with 26 million metric tonnes of cargo or nearly 1.2M containers per annum. Nigeria two sea ports are doing half that each. And yet their economy is supposedly 490B usd - really naija Mombasa port is 24-hr operation and very efficient. 2 Likes |

Electricity - the least said about nigeria in this - the better for our friends in nairaland. Kenya now boast of 60% electricity connection coverage in all households (stable reliable electricity)...from 12% in 2006 thanks to huge investment in this. South Africa has about 80% of it's household connected to main grid. A lesson nigeria can learn from. Yesterday I saw some constituency in kenya has even managed to achieve universal electricity connection. Kenya target is to have universal electricity connection by 2020. Already 99% of all public institutions (schools) & markets are connected to reliable stable power. Nigeria with all the petrodollars and oil are still running generators and think having constant reliable power is a miracle. Yet they've got Niger river & many others plus of course oil to burn and generate thermal power. Kenya power plants are mostly clean renewable energy (95%) Lake Turkana -300MW wind power energy plant in Turkana Kenya -700-1B dollar project Geothermal plants - Kenya is Africa and one of world leaders in tapping this energy. Roads - Nigeria have the key ingredient for making road - bitumen from Oil - but quick peek on naija moves show really dusty roads.outside the main arteries - Naija don't seem to have bitumen standard roads? Kenya's Nairobi-Thika superhighway - 12 lanes (6 lanes aside) 3 Likes |

highheybee: Your point holds water only in a case where the provider is one person. For instance if you are a father, taking care of 3 children is easier than ten. But we are talking about countries - Kenya and Nigeria have similar family sizes. As much as Kenya may have fewer dependents, it also has fewer providers. Look at it this way - a family of five where one is a provider and four dependents may be better than a family of 20 with 1 provider and 19 dependents but it is no different from a family of 20 with 4 providers and 16 dependents. I hope you understand what I mean. 1 Like |

I admit Nigeria doesn't not do well with infrastructure due to our maintenance culture. But things are actually changing. Also despite the limits we have still managed to do some amazing stuff, like Innosson Motors. naijagotjokes: |

PROVERBZ: The main reason we Kenyans & South Africans are on Nairaland is basically because Seun doesnt have a problem with foreigners being on his own website. Unless you co-own it then that would be absolutely another case, furthermore there are more Nigerians who dont have an issue over our existence in Nairaland. Nigerians outside Nigeria, mainly in Kenya paint a grim picture of the situation back home. I know a few who have live here in Kenya illegally doing small time hustle who swear that they better stay in a Kenyan jail than be free in Naija. 4 Likes |

Nigerians prefer to rather be in a Kenyan jail rather than be free in Nigeria due to the hardship they face back at home. The moment they knew how comfortable the Kenyan prisons rehabilitation services that were given in jail, they started presenting themselves to the police to be arrested and arraigned in court. 2 Likes
