But Iheanacho has already done the bolded when minutes came and will do much more when he gets more minutes. Nacho is not on the bench for lack of form or poor performances. Pep himself confessed that. It's obvious pep just preferred others. I have a right to be worried here coz Iheanacho is not bench quality. He's not! Not even 5mins in the last 5games for Nacho. Mehn! I have a right to be very concerned. TheGoodJoe: |

'ALGERIA BETTER THAN YOU NIGERIA' - ROHR PROVOKED EAGLES TO WIN Victor Moses - Eagles star Gernot Rohr played serious mind games with the Super Eagles before they will go past Algeria in a crunch World Cup qualifier earlier this month, team officials have opened up. Rohr’s mind games included telling his players straight up that the Algerians were better than them and also pasting in the team’s meeting room the photos of their opponents before the big match. Rohr psychological challenge was also helped by his match reader, who incidentally has previously worked with Algeria coach Georges Leekens. “Rohr is the great psychologist. He challenged the players to bring out their best against Algeria by openly telling them the North Africans were better than them,” said a highly impressed team official. “His mind game also included having the photos of all the Algerian players pasted in the team’s meeting rooms so much so that by the time they met these same players on the pitch on match day they already knew them.” Added to this was the fact that Rohr match reader also worked with Leekens at Anderlecht and Tunisia and so Nigeria had an inside track of how the Algeria coach tactical mind works. “When Leekens got to know that the match reader was on the Nigeria bench, he knew it would be very difficult for him to outfox Rohr,” said another team official. The Super Eagles stormed to a convincing 3-1 home win to consolidate their leadership of their qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Algeria are now bottom of the group after two rounds of matches. Source: http://africanfootball.com//news/667401/Algeria-better-than-you-Nigeria-Rohr-provoked-Eagles-to-win 1 Like |

HOW LEON BALOGUN WAS PATCHED UP IN 4 DAYS TO STOP SLIMANI AND ALGERIA Leon Balogun (left) in action against Algeria in Uyo It can exclusively be revealed today that a knee injury almost ruled out Leon Balogun from a must-win World Cup qualifier against Algeria only for the medical staff to patch up the injury prone Germany-based defender to stop danger man Islam Slimani for Nigeria to win 3-1 in Uyo. Eagles coach Gernot Rohr had even given up hope that Balogun will be fit for the crunch Algeria, but the team’s medics worked overtime for four days to ensure the big central defender was ready to stop Algeria. It was a medical feat that Rohr himself acknowledged after the big win over the highly fancied North Africans. “Balogun suffered a knee injury in action for his Bundesliga club Mainz and it looked very much like he will miss the match against Algeria, but the Eagles medical staff assured Rohr the player will be fit in four days,” a source informed. “And that was exactly what happened so much so that an impressed Rohr could not but praise the medical team for this little miracle.” Balogun formed a great partnership in the heart of the defence with William Troost-Ekong to ensure that Algeria only scored from a long-range effort by Nabil Bentaleb. TheSuperNerd: If Iheanacho goes to Barcelona, do you think he will start ahead of Neymar, Messi and Suarez? Iheanacho is a growing player. Let him keep learning. His chances will come. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:47pm On Nov 27, 2016 |
BascoVanVeli: Yes, so he can grow as a player. Bench is not the problem but for him to keep developing. Iheanacho will get better at a faster rate working with Guardiola and training with top quality players. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:52pm On Nov 27, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd: Iheanacho is not yet blistering. He is growing but there is a lot of work ahead. He needs to keep learning the drills. Keep perfecting them and get faster with the ball. Playing in five games is not what we need. We need him playing with more force. We need to develop patience and watch him grow. Adarabioyo is also not playing. Guardiola is working on him too. |

TheSuperNerd: Guardiola knows Iheanacho can finish. But, he wants more from the lad. Messi and Neymar, at 19 could tear down loads of players with blistering pace and mind blowing skillful touches. If Nacho is to reach the levels of these geniuses, then he has a lot of work on the training field. Maybe another coach will feel satisfied with just finishing and intense work rate, Guardiola is not. He believes Iheanacho can do more. Let us give him time. |

Pep wants time?... Fine! We are already counting down and Gabriel Jesus' arrival looms large over the etihad. Pep already said Nacho is working his socks off super intensely in training. I trust what Pep can do with Nacho but I am not too sure of his willingness to give him enough playing time to execute most of what he's learnt (and is still learning) on the training ground under the "eagle-eyed" Pep coaching crew... But enough said...... Time will tell. Iheanacho himself wants to be the best in the world. It's in him and I know he's dedicated to training and is a beast on that man city training ground. I just hope Gabriel Jesus' arrival won't take Pep's attention from the fact that Iheanacho still exists coz in Nacho lies an allround attacking monster. If he were brazillian, Approx. One million pounds won't be coughed up for him after the U-17s..... It will possibly reach 5-7million.... It's okay... Time will tell. #ObservationMode TheGoodJoe: |

zicky: If based on his growth, I believe he will gain more working with the likes of Barcelona. But, he will not get the playing time people crave. That is the point. This is the time for education. People who want Nacho to leave City want playing time. Some suggested Bournemouth. That is where I have a problem. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 9:17pm On Nov 27, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd: There is big difference in working hard in training and doing well. There still comes a stage of excelling in most drills. Even some of the best do not attain that level. So, Iheanacho might impress Pep with his dedication and hard work. His improvements can also impress the coach. However, that does not mean he is performing at the level the coach wants. Iheanacho should welcome the competition from Gabriel, Sane and whoever comes in. Rumors have it a big star might come in at the end of the season. A mega deal. Whoever it is, Nacho needs to stick to the drills because, that is what will make him improve. Nacho is a big City project. |

TheSuperNerd: Sane cost City £37 million but he is still not playing. Forget all the media hypes around Gabriel. I do not see him getting preferential treatment. Gabriel cost City £28 million. |

TheGoodJoe:He'll not get that playing time in Barcelona, he's not getting that playing time currently in man city, messi learnt something from Ronaldinho same way I want Nacho to be an understudy to messi, Neymar or Suarez, I agree with you getting playing time is not the ultimate now but working hard and learning from the best in the game. 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd:Its not like whatever Pep touch turns to gold, he's not a demigod, Nacho can still be great. I've this strong conviction that Nacho will not only get game time in Barcelona or Tot, but will perform very well. Manchester city game is so annoying, its either he's not getting games or the other guys are not passing to him. |

TheGoodJoe: He doesn't have to do more in training in order to play cuz Pep said he does all that. The fact is that city have their backs against the ropes, every match seems like a must win and Pep has been riding Aguero like a stalion. Truth is Iheanacho has to wait for injury or truly bad form. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: One thing that Nacho needs is speed - if he can clock 11.50 over 100 m than his progress will be blistering. However my feeling of the back of his 2 year extension is that Pep does not want him at Man City. A two year contract for a lad who is yet 20 and scores almost 1 a game is not economically sound. The issue is that Pep tends to have problems with Black players. Remember Eto - Pep got rid of him. I really do think Pep does not like Black players. He got rid of Yaya too when at Barca and has only brought him back after big spat because his desperate. Well some said Man City was going to be tough. My expectation is that Nacho is going to have to do what Nigerian players are not doing and that is become truly world class. Meaning hes got to boss it for Man City and Nigeria. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:45am On Nov 28, 2016 |
pelezico: There is a big misconception with Eto's case. When Guardiola took over as boss of Barca, he let the likes of Gudjohnson, Deco, Edmilson, Rafael Marquez, Ronaldinho leave. But, he let Eto stay for one more season. I doubt that is hatred for black players. Guardiola's problem is that he does not complain when he finds players breaking his rules. He just cuts the player off. I think that was what happened with Eto. Then Eto getting rude in training and in the locker room made things worse. It is something that affects white players too. Shaqiri does not know what he did wrong but Guardiola cut him off from the team. So it is not a white black thing. Guardiola had a good time with Alaba and Abidal who are black players. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:49am On Nov 28, 2016 |
pelezico: I have noticed Nacho's speed improve lately. In the game against Algeria, even a fast Moses could not keep up with the speed and Stamina of Nacho when pressing. Nacho showed his improvement in speed in the game against Bournemouth and Manchester United in the EFL Cup. I have seen improvements in Nacho but I feel the coach wants more. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by terzurum5(m): 6:45am On Nov 28, 2016 |
pelezico:We have players like Kayode and Fanen who are doing well in their Clubs. These set of players should be tried in friendly games. Kayode may get called up any moment from now, if what has been read on the pages of Newspapers is anything to go by. Unfortunately, Fanen who has been more consistent in front of goal for the past two seasons in MLS is not on the wish list of Coach Rohr's led technical crew. If we want Club status as a criteria for choosing our CF. Then Ideye and Ighalo shall continue giving us the prolonged headache in that department. |
