Only rogue Bank workers would misappropriate monies in dormant accounts. It is called banks because it is a place to keep unwanted cash, people have trust in banks. People open accounts, deposit money and leave the money in the banks dormant, in many cases for decades. Before a bank could convert money in dormant accounts for any other use, every legal processes must have been made to ascertain that the depositor is dead and has no survivors who could inherit the dormant account. |

Too many Dormant accounts in Nigerian banks because many or all Nigerian banks operate abnormally. How can banks be charging interests on customer every withdrawal of money customer made? Some even de charge interest on savings account. Banks outside Nigeria normally grow by huge interests from money they lend to businesses and to mortgage business. Nigerian banks hardly lend money to businesses and to mortgage. |
