Hello,
I just signed the petition, "Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC): Data plans rates by carriers in Nigeria should not be increased by NCC."
I think this is important. Will you sign it too?

Why everything is getting worse na? Salary is not increasing, yet all levels of price are skyrocketting. Buhari, please be considerate na. All I know is that, after hardship comes relief. There is an end in sight insha Allah.

Can't figure out what's problem with this country regarding this decision. What's wrong with the leadership. No light, and now they are out to cripple internet. Always looking how to fleece the already impoverished masses. Bad idea

Dear my fellow Nigerian, A directive has been sent out by the Nigerian Communication Commission(NCC) to all telecommunication network in Nigeria. This will result in increase of data rates which will take effect from 1st of December, 2016. I am very sure your service provider has notified you about this development already.
In this year and time we live in, Data is suppose to be more affordable and not more expensive. And looking at the ease/advantages the internet has added to our everyday life, increment of data rates will only make it harder to access the internet thereby taking us backwards instead of forward.
Therefore, In disagreement with this move by NCC and telecommunication companies, we have made an effort stop this from taking effect by creating an online petition at Change.org and we need you to sign it to show your support. The link to the petition is: https://www.change.org/p/nigeria-communication-commission-ncc-data-plans-rates-by-carriers-in-nigeria-should-not-be-increased-by-ncc?recruiter=642402116&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink
Please I already believe you would sign this petition to show your support for us and against NCC. But you also have to share/re-broadcast this message to as many people as you can. Thank you as you do so.

Am not into politics but I swear if there was a choice between voting jona and buhari I'll still vote buhari. Buhari had an excellent record back in 1983-1985 hence prompting people to vote him.

Why don't you call Americans fools because they're voting 70 year old Donald Trump?

Competitive pricing should be fair to everyone.
What do you think would happen if MTN drop on net calls to N1 per minute?
AND Nigeria is the only country with cheaper data plans?
Data has been affordable in Ghana since 2011, why hasn't their regulatory body set a price ceiling?

What about Kenya with ridiculously affordable data plans?
No wonder they are the leading light in IT in Africa.

These will certainly set back the ict sector of this country that have gave much positive strides for some years now.

Since apc administration have been empacking on many trial and error policies recently. I believe this will be one of them and will die quickly.

Not true.
Just like voice calls, NCC only introduced data floor price (The data floor price is the minimum allowable price per MB).
Before now, there was no floor price so any telco can decide to sell data at any price of their choice.

If it is allowed to continue that way, some of the telcos may fold-up which will lead to job loss and also drive investors away.
Just imagine if Vodacom decides to pull their tariff plans down just to kill smaller telc coys like Lebara.
Rather than wait until that happens(since Glo has been pushing them)NCC decided to introduce floor price. For voice calls, NCCs current floor price is 11k/sec.

The price will still be between the range of 1300-1500 for 1.5G

Very sensible comment, but will the people reason like this? People are quick to write rubbish based on the topic that says 1.5gb for N3,000 which is not true. If this is due to data floor price then it makes sense in the long run provided the minimum rate is reasonable. Without floor price then it will be very difficult for a small companies to compete, they will run at a loss which is bad in the long run.
