There are three figures of speech in that sentence. Namely pun, alliteration and assonance.. However, literally, the predominant one is pun. 2 Likes |

Moboj:that's not pun. Pun isn't simply a play on words. It's a play on words in a way that suggests two or more correct meanings. The example above is just a tongue twister. A tongue twister is also a play on words. |

Moboj:dude, that's not pun. Not every play on words is a pun. Look at an example of a simple pun most Nairalanders would understand: Test some mods 44 times, they would always fail to Mynd their own business. This example doesn't even have any sound repeated as in the alliteration or assonance common in tongue twisters, but anyone who looks closely would see that you are referring to a particular mod. That's the double meaning that is a strong feature every pun. |
