If Ikwerre is going to reject a Bible written in Ibo because they claim they are not Ibos, in all fairness they should also reject Ibo language. Find a new language thats not Ibo. Find new names so Im not confused if im speaking to the Ibo Obinna or Ikwerre Obinna.

Find new customs. If all the indigenous customs native to that land is Ibo then its either Ikwerre is Ibo or they wiped out the native Ibo they met on that land, a situation parallel to Hausa extermination by a non-Hausa tribe who assimilated into the customs but retains its ethnic distinction.

Why did you think that?

In all Ikwerre names Ive seen Im yet to see one that is not Ibo. You cannot pronounce Ibo name and with sense and meaning unless the tongue is also Ibo speaking or proto Ibo.

because you have money doesnt mean people will automaticaly follow you...

they should learn to talk with none igbo tribes..

if you can not even understand urhobos what makes you think you can just plan something without urhobos..

ijaws,ikwerres and so many more..
they dont like to talk they only want to be angry...

this biafra thing will not work..

Well we first have to define what is Ibo

Arabs bear Ibrahim and Jews bear Abraham,Solomon Suleiman and so on. So rather than say they are "Ibo names" Ikwerre can claim they are Ikwerre names appropriated by Ibos. What makes the names Ibo? because Ibo are more?. There is no logic to that .
There is also another hypothesis that both groups have the same origin but are distinct and the names come from that earlier origin.
The other thing is Language has very little to do with origin.
The fact that most of the SW speak Yoruba does not mean they have the same origin or ancestors.
The vast majority of North Africa now speak some variant of Arabic but they are not really Arabs ethnically
Certainly Egyptians are not Arabs but many have now forgotten that

Very cogent! I cant argue this.

Good luck to Ibo and Ikwerre.

There is no tribe named after a LGA not Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Tiv, Idoma, Ibibio, Ijaw, Kanuri, etc except Ikwerre. Because Ikwerre isnt but a community and not a tribe.

Yoruba is not a tribe so go and open a dictionary and stop typing rubbish
Is there a law about how LGAs are named to underpin the point you are woefully failing to make or is it a coincidental observation.

Are there any rules about how LGAs may be named?
Certainly there are countless LGAs that reflect the IDENTITY of a people whether in Ijebuland,Ekiti land,Edo land and so on so please stop all this pseudo-mysticism

Well I am not an Ikwerre person and so I am not in a position to educate you. What is important is what the Ikwerre people say they are. I have interacted with many of them and they appear to have some similarities with Ibos but then all Ghanaians appear similar to Nigerian observers and there is such a thing as a "Nigerian" accent. Many Nigerian appear same to outsiders but there are significant differences nevertheless. Even among the Ibos there are many groups that only engage in farming/fishing or office work and have little aptitude for travelling or trading but people lump them all as one. Many of these groups never even knew of each other's existence before Nigeria not to talk of intermarrying and such like.
Like I said before Egyptian,Tunisians,Moroccans and so on all speak Arabic and are Muslims but ethnically they are not Arabs ,they know this and the Arabs know this. many of them belong to the group know as Berbers some of whom we saw begging in Nigeria in the 80s and 90s.

Language is not what makes a people but their own self narrative and Ikwerres had been asserting that they are not Igbos LONG BEFORE Biafra as many like to pretend.
In fact there was a hearing "WILLINKS COMMISSION" 1957 before independence in 1960 where this same matter came up so it is dishonest to pretend it was merely a consequence of the Civil war. There are other Igbo groups in Rivers state e.g Etche and Oyigbo why have they not gone down the same path?
Ultimately these are questions for them and for the Ikwerre people who assert they are not Igbo

You've written very well.

As an Ikwerre, i have to add that ancestry is the primary distinguishing factor between the Ikwerres and the Igbos. Our forebears have passed down our oral history, the story of our origins and it is exactly what we pass down to our kids.

While Igbos claimed to have migrated from Isreal, and settled in Nri, the Ikwerres have the story of Akalaka and his sojourn away from Benin to our present location. Igbos in their usual nature will not accept the Ikwerre history, but we dont care, as we are not minutely bothered by how they feel.

There are germans who after WWII, travelled to Brazil, settled there and became assimilated into Brazilian culture and language. After 70yrs, if you see their children and grandchildren, you'll refer to them as descendants of the portuguese but if they told you they are germans by ancestry, you'd have a hard time believing it.

Obviously, Iwhnrohna settled with his young family in an area where he was greatly influenced by Igbos, as visible in words and some aspects of culture. But No matter the level of assimilation, our ancestry is the reason we set ourselves aside and chose to be recognised as Ikwerres. It is something we have pursued and achieved.

Again, we do not care if Igbos aren't comfortable with our history, they can do absolutely nothing about it.

I guess there is an Igbo agenda in USA, as Igbos now hold elective posts there too.

There is an Igbo agenda in Poland, as Igbos hold elective positions there too.

There is an Igbo agenda in Yorubaland, as Igbos hold elective posts there too.

There is an Igbo agenda in UK, as Igbo hold elective positions there.

There was a Fulani agenda in Igboland, when a Fulani Man who had spent a long time of his lifetime in Enugu was voted to represent Enugu people as the mayor of the City.

There is now a Muslim agenda in Britain, as a Moslem is the mayor.

Relechi Ramadi and his bandwagoners are bunch of retards and should be pitied.

I DON'T KNOW WHO IS DUMBER, IKWERRE(IGBO CLAN) OR THE AFONJA?

EITHER WAY, A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION THAT PRODUCE AN OFFICE HOLDER THAT IS NOT YOUR CLAN MEMBER DOES NOT TRANSLATE INTO COLONISATION.

THE FIRST ELECTED MAYOR OF ENUGU WAS A FULANI, DOES IT TRANSLATE INTO FULANI COLONISATION OF ENUGU? NO.

So why was Ogbakor Ikwerre created?
Why did this incident in Port Harcourt in 1963 happen

Why did the Ikwerre insist on their own Bible?

Ogbakor Ikwerre is no different from Ogbakor Aro or Oha Uratta or every other Ogbakor, Otu or Oha in Igboland. It's a union of kinsmen founded to protect the interest of the immediate group. It means absilutely nothing in the Ikwerre vs Igbo endless debate.

The records are there. Like you pointed out the Willinks commission, Ikwerres had always tried whenever the opportunity arose to present their case. The British actually left us to sort ourselves in the new republic. And we got ourselves sorted perfectly after the war.

The Igbos will not like to hear this, but the truth and history are on our side, they can resort to blackmail, but it doesnt bother us one bit what they say about our identity before 1970 as the records show concerted Ikwerre efforts in achieving a distinct identify during colonial times and shortly after independence.

They have decided to carry the ineptitude and magnanimous failure of Ojukwus biafra and heap on Ikwerres as tge reason for their loss. We only look at them and laugh.
