I have no idea.
Heard of these practices but didn't think it was this real.
They probably sleep with experienced elders for screening or they consult the Oracle.
Lolz. @ the emboldened, I think the former is more probable.

Ma'am. How are they still virgins when they've slept with an 'experienced elder'? Cut down on your intake ASAP.

Imagine the nonsense. As much as I love Afrika, some of our traditional practice is just not it.

To think we have people who are educated and enlightened as elders still makes me wonder how they still reason like men living in the Stone Age.
Bro, I tell you, issues like virginity and chastity should be left to one's own inclination. The community can only come in an advisory capacity.

Frankly bro. I think and strongly believe the community shouldn't even come in at all. Cos we've seen that most members of the community are half-wits and certified dumbos.

Now what sort of advice can one who is dumb give? Truly, virginity and chastity should be left to the individual, cos only the individual knows where it hurts, and how it hurts.

They had better keep their virginity a secret, who knows wether one baba don tell our politicians say them need virgin(s) head and parts for that sacrifice. What better way to get virgins than to throw a peagant or whatever for them?

Its a traditional ceremony at ogu/bolo plus other parts of Nigeria too. It signifies maturity into womanhood and let's the community know when a girl is ripe for marriage. Very few partake in it these days.
My wife is from there and did hers long ago.
Most traditional ceremonies in our country is dying because of yeye statements I read above.

Not all traditional ceremonies are BAD!
sir those men saw ur wife before u did? are u comfortable with that?

The virgin ceremony also called Iria ceremony is a tradition, which every girl from the community must go through before being given out in marriage. The girls are usually critically screened by the elders, in the community before being allowed to participate in the ceremony.

How do they screen them? Grab them by their pussies like Trump? cheesy

This sick ancient tradition should be banned! We're in 21st century not 10 century.

Virginity doesn't necessarily guarantee anything in marriage.
