Hello fellow farmers, my fishes r one week old in my pond and I observed that they have swollen tummy and a lot of dem do hang on water. when I want to feed them they are very active but after one hour of feeding they start to hang. @Robonski, @excelsior, @ab1x kindly advice on what I should do please

adhere to ab1x, bacteria issue & watch your feeding,try improve water mgt. When you are visibly settle the issue,get aquapro & if you use it occasionally,you might never have need for antibiotic again

dont mix. Aquapro when they are fine,just release some on water surface,0.25 of sachet,and your fishes will feed on it, then feed weekly,consider cost. For tetracycline,either you add to water by reducing it,later you top up or you mix with ready to give feed by adding little moist. Nafdac already ban use of some antibiotic,hence not sure if tetracycline makes the list,so aquapro is good also if you confirm the former is in the list.

Sir, i really appreciate your response. I mixed the tetracycline in the food i feed them with yesterday and did not add water or reduce the level of water in my tank. Also, can i repeat the process today by reducing the water level and mixing tetracycline with their food? I used two and half sachet of tetracycline in their feed yesterday. thanks in anticipation

30 tablets? i could have encourage you use antibiotic with moderation,reason is for human health & so it wont allow your fishes develop resistance for future occurrence. If you notice improve dont use,maintain clean water. Otherwise a 3 days regime is normal to clear out any residue disease inherent in your fishes. All the Best.

bro this is strictly catfish thread sir.to avoid such,keep clean environment free from feed drops,u can also create a boundary with used engine oil,salt soln also works,but how expensive.go to,remove weeds,keep environment dry,seal cracks,clean gutter,remove woods around,spray d environ with relevant insecticide(u get in agric stores)

This is coming late, but better late than never. Get a palm kernel bunch empty of its seeds, place it where the ants are, they will all storm the bunch, then set it on fire.

Who does aeration in Nigeria and what cost. How can one prepare a large pond that can contain 10k fishes.

1. Can laborers do it?

2. Or I need a machine, which? and what depth is good?

first consider cost & you can use weekly or fornightly. Make sure your water mgt is okay to reduce how often you treat your fishes

#thia oga just kill it for u, his analysis of feeding is on point. beware of internet farmers they will only lead you to burn ur fingers....like he said ur fish dont consume much @ early stages. real consumption start frm 2months upward and to max profit change to local @ the end of the 2nd month. goodluck!
