Good evening house. I applied for University of Alberta and filled the preliminary application form in october for the fall 2017 semester. They sent me a mail this evening that my application has not been approved for the next application stage. My course is MSC Petroleum Engineering and my UG gpa is 4.36/5.0 while my last two years were 4.08 and 4.64. Has anyone gone through this stage and how did you pass the preliminary application stage because I am about filling the form again since I still have time. |

Aracely:Lol, everything gonna be alright ok...you seems not to understand the kind of msg the school is trying to pass across. Let assume CIC request for new admission letter( i.e approval is certain) the school will not issue another letter for u as they noted earlier but they will tell you to reapply as a new applicant thereby paying another apps fees. You've nothing to lose, you just have to pay a new apps fee and you will be admitted then offer a new admission letter that carries then next intake date...Lobatan |

gaaaa:I really do not know if am the one who does not understand what this message is saying....I am quite interested in knowing how you intend to convince a VO (even me) that after you've completed a MSc in the UK.... You then want to "progress" with a PGC?..... I think a couple of gurus have tackled this your particular issue in a couple of posts recently. I implore you to examine your submission yourself before you send out to a VO.... Hope I am making sense? Let's open this up.... OK... You applied from UK because you are presently residing there plus the thought of a better chance of being approved... Good! But the moment you declared your MSc.... haba!!.... PGC is a No No! A lot of us complain about PGD/C and it's refusal rate..... truly, PGD/C is not the problem but many of us do not just choose rightly! Another thing.... UK allows career changes (eg. Engineering to Nursing) in fact they do a lot of career march ups in the universities (accounting with law and the likes) but my dear.. . experiences from applicants especially on this thread shows that it's not their thing in Canada. A lawyer choosing a career program in business is not ready for their TRV! Please.... Re-draw your plans putting above factors in mind.... even if applying from Nigeria. Other options: 1. applying from US might be a lot cooler than UK.... where you immigration status will not work against you. 2. You can also try employment agencies in UK that can help with Tier 2. 3. Shop for another related MSc (career expansion) in Canada. 4. Shop for PhD in Canada (career progression) *** never a PGD!!! Good luck! 3 Likes |

afredytee: Hello @afredytee and congrats. I also intend attending Carleton Uni for Masters in Human Computer Interaction. I have already paid the Application fee and now completing the remaining phase of the application which is uploading required documents. My concern now is the Financial part of the Preference form, I really don't know what to fill in the Funding part. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

martinogie:choose a course based program and make it clear that u can sponsor your education, that you don't need any funding from the school.... It worked for me when I applied to unisask after they rejected me the first time 1 Like |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Riddeek: 11:00am On Dec 06, 2016 |
Rickywowoz:He never said he doesn't need funding from the school, i am sure he needs thats why he is goung for Msc instead of M.Eng, another perk of thesis-based is that he can proceed directly to PhD if he wishes. Best bet is for him to contact supervisors beforehand and know whether to continue with the application or look elsewhere but i believe his 4.36 might take him in, 4.36 (87%) no be joke na. |

michV: Hey Dear, @michV thanks for taking time to advice me. Erm its a graduate certificate in supply chain management though not postgraduate diploma and from my little research a Graduate certificate is like getting another BSc but based on a particular subject or field. And I chose this one because from my research online most pharmaceutical companies actually require such expertise. Perhaps the reason why they said purpose of visit was because I actually didn't attach a supporting letter stating my plans. I know very callous of me . |
