Mzstephh:uwc miss. meanwhile Graduate certificate is an upgrade from B.SC in a systematic order. Postgraduate diploma/postgraduate certificate fall into the category of Graduate certificate. PGC(D) is more of acquiring practical/technical expertise in a particular field/area of study which in Canadian immigration system MUST be related to either you UG degree/work experience or even both if possible.Having a Maters degree from the U.K is a higher upgrade from bsc and pgc(d) and a VO may hardly be convinced on your ''purpose of visit'' which beyond reasonable doubt that even a S.O.P cannot do the magic when things are not humanly in order. opting for another masters in canada may solve this, preferably PHD admission would give you a perfect chance. |

Good day beautiful house, many thanks to you guys for all your countless efforts, I have a little TECHNICAL QUESTION Please I applied to university of Manitoba for a 3yrs undergraduate course but I will be doing a 1yr foundation program at International College of Manitoba first, making it a total of 4yrs. I am about applying for study permit but my passport will expire in 2019, do I need to renew my passport before applying or I can apply with it like that? Your contributions are welcomed |

wealth360: question 1. Since it's dated 22nd Nov. and you are applying on the 2nd week of Jan.2017. it is still in other. '' 2. I can't do the arithmetic now because i am not in my comfort zone. '' 3. It is still very OK considering the Long wait/fluctuating processing time(s) so that you would have much time to arrange and prepare for your departure. '' 4. It has been said here before and some have shared the experience that you may not submit your passport if you need it for for something else. Only make,i guess 3 photocopies of the data pages and submit along which you would also fill a questionnaire at VFS asking if you will be needing your passport in the next 3 months and which your answer will have to be YES and when your TRV approval is certain they will request for it. 1 Like |

Hello House, i aff come again o. i have a question, my sponsor gave me a bank statement that ends in october, can i use the statement to apply now(in dec). Inflow and outflow over 100m , with closing balance of 2mplus, do i stand a chance? Also, as an additional asset document a letter of fixed deposit to be matured three months after school resumes was to given me, how can i use this in my favour? relationship is family friend/mentor |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by michaelbelgium(m): 7:32pm On Dec 06, 2016 |
platypelloid:check the admission requirement for the program you are applying to on their website....some programs do not require you getting a supervisor before applying. i guess language requirement is waived for nigerians(check also for language requirement on the school site).....having GRE is very good but it's not mandatory you have it. please make sure your CGPA is 4.0 and above....UBC is very competitive. |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Nobody: 8:31pm On Dec 06, 2016 |
1. Get an updated sponsor SOA. 2. Add assets documents and letter of fixed deposit as you have said. 3. Suit your relationship properly and add proofs (rethink about this and figure it out properly). 4. Remember to add an affidavit of sponsorship. 5. Remember to pay your school fees since you are using third party sponsor. 6. Add a detailed SOP. Best wishes. guzan: 1 Like |

What about Thread for people going to Syria (Allepo) for Masters or diploma...... Canada make sense well, dem still get space for people. With less strict immigration laws when compared to UK or (Trump's) USA... No interview required for Visa, but heart attack fit kill you when you dey wait for your Visa application decision |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Nobody: 8:46pm On Dec 06, 2016 |
guzan:I only want to advice you to read peoples testimonies here and suit your application properly by rethinking and figuring it out. Remember if you are going for PGC/PGD you must convince the visa officer very well while you chose the programme and how it will benefit you. |
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Riddeek: 8:50pm On Dec 06, 2016 |
platypelloid:if it is a research-based masters MAsc then of course you need to, but if it is course-based M.Eng you don't. You do not need IELTS/TOEFL, UBC recognizes Nigeria as an English-speaking nation. As for GRE, it is not compulsory but highly recommended for international students, infact one supervisor wrote on his webpage that any student that wants to contact him to be his supervisor must present GRE score, immediately i saw this, i just zeroed all hopes of him being my supervisor. The hunt continues... |

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by Riddeek: 9:00pm On Dec 06, 2016 |
michaelbelgium:well it depends on the dept. in engineering and sciences, 4.0 is too low to get you admitted into UBC (except of course God wants you there), the stats they released showed that the average entry gpa was 90% for engineering and sciences and this starts from 4.5/5.0. (That doesn't mean those that have below this can not get admitted, as long as you prove ur research prowess you stand a chance). Just so you know i have seen someone with 94% rejected at UBC in MAsc for electrical and computer engineering. The day i saw this i could not sleep well at night, i felt i had zero hope. Its not surprising, afterall na top school and it is rated among the top30 in the world. |

Wow! This thread is going strong by the day. Joined this thread when it was part 2, followed info from experts. I've been in Canada for over 4 years now, got my permanent residency earlier this year and counting down to my citizenship. This is the kinna thread that makes you thank God for the day you joined Nairaland. Not the snake killing, pre-wedding shooting, tribal bashing threads that are now order of the day on Nairaland frontpage 8 Likes |

pharmow: You are highly welcome. Congrats on your PR. We hope to celebrate your citizenship in 4 years time I guess. Abi how many years between PR and filing to Citizenship? Also why did it take that long to get your PR or that's the norm? Did You enter through PhD? I hope to we get to learn from your experience. Also, kindly share some of your falls and ups during study and towards getting your PR and what you did to come out strong. Thank you. 1 Like |
