Abeg What is my chance of getting admission to ubc?
thanks.
Riddeek:
if it is a research-based masters MAsc then of course you need to, but if it is course-based M.Eng you don't.
You do not need IELTS/TOEFL, UBC recognizes Nigeria as an English-speaking nation.
As for GRE, it is not compulsory but highly recommended for international students, infact one supervisor wrote on his webpage that any student that wants to contact him to be his supervisor must present GRE score, immediately i saw this, i just zeroed all hopes of him being my supervisor.
The hunt continues...

michaelbelgium:

check the admission requirement for the program you are applying to on their website....some programs do not require you getting a supervisor before applying.
i guess language requirement is waived for nigerians(check also for language requirement on the school site).....having GRE is very good but it's not mandatory you have it.
please make sure your CGPA is 4.0 and above....UBC is very competitive.

Thank God with me brethren, my TRV was approved today. This dream started when I discovered this travel section in my 300l, then my cumulative was 3.42(second class lower) I found out that I can't get admission into most Msc programs in Canada with a 2.2. In my last two years in school, I worked very hard and finally graduated with 3.58 ( second class upper).

I saved up my NYSC alawee for 2-3 months and applied to UBC and university of Regina. I was accepted by the latter around June this year.

Applied on 23 September (paper route)
Called for medical on 24 November

She doesn't wanna go masters in philosophy because it's not a practical course that is, she won't have a place to practice.(company)cos philosophy is more of theoretical than being practical.

Hello beautiful people, please a friend of mine got admission into uni of Regina for an undergraduate course despite having a B.A degree in philosophy. Please can I know the necessary requirements for application of visa and does she need a SOP?Thanks in advance.
i may sound insensible to you but i advise to rethink on this. Your friend as you put it to be has already B.sc and going for another B.sc in canada.Remember if she is above age, such may also not favor too for a BSc unless she might be stating she never had B.sc/undergraduate study before but dealing with such an application is always a complex one because those years of gaps have to be catered for.

SOP is a cosmetic to a good application not when you have not done things in other. people do even get TRVs without writing any SOP.

the VOs atimes are unpredictable since a female friend of mine though not on Nairaland got TRV for critical nursing something like that for just ordinary Diploma but i believe the VO may have approved TRV for her because her Dad owns a hospital which she explained to the VO that upon return she automatically resumes work in the hospital and this is why she is embarking on this journey to canada for studies. Her undergraduate was totally not related to this critical nursing but told the VO she is part timing in her dad's hospital pending when she gets this degree to assume a role fully and TRV was approved. she leaves January 2017 for canada..

Mehn, I don't think i've seen the number of new comers and silent followers on this thread like i have seen today! Una weldone o. I hope at the end, we all get all the advise, solution and answers to all our questions about the study journey.

Truth is, when people do their personal research about their intended study purpose in Canada, its easier to get help along the process here cos must people will be impressed with the effort already made and will be ready to assist till the end. Meanwhile, to all the guyz taking time out to respond to people, i salute! It's amazing how people are kind enough to take people they barely or don't even know through different stages of the whole study in Canada process for free. The reward of these gesture is certainly not with any man.

Congrats to those who have already gotten their TRVs and to the hopefuls, It will end well! Let's keep doing all we need to do and hopefully, the good news will be more. Cheers to everyone!!

You're welcome bro.

Trv means temporary resident visa. It's a visa that allows you to enter Canada temporarily for a particular purpose e.g study.

Go to the first page of this thread to get useful links.

Ask specific questions and you shall find answers to your queries. Do an extensive research before asking questions here as people are generally inclined to answer people who have done some extent of research on their own.

Start by googling the schools that offer your program.

Awesome thanks.. Am right on it
