1. Accept the police offer. And be diligent when you resume...defend the constitution of the FRON you 'swore' to protect.
2. You can then run a part-time programme in any higher institution of learning while with the force
3. number 2 above will make you get to the upper echelon of the force in no time.
4. Opt out. reject the offer entirely. cos your reason for applying ain't to serve but 'to make yourself stupendiously rich' (Nigeria/Nigerians can do with less officers like you), hence face your 'enterpreneurship job'
5. MY PERSONAL OPINION

i am still very young.. in my late teens now...the last out of six siblings...done with secondary school....bt couldn't further because of finance....

right now tho...the last thing on my mind is furthering my education ...thing is...i see it as a waste of time and money...even though i intend going back...bt that will be when i have made some cool cash...

so...for at least two years since i rapped up secondary school...i have been working as a sales person for people...with few ups and downs once in a while...

then...the opportunity to join the Nigerian police came...right at the peak of a frustrating time...so i thought less before registering for constable cadre....went through all the processes...and now am selected...#do note that i did this with little or no help from anyone...so i think the selection this time is on merit#

bt the problem now is that...i have a bigger dream...i intend going into business if my brother will help...the NPF..tho is good bt..then wont give me the financial buttress that i aim for...

their salary scale is quite poor...imagine making sales of eighty thousand naira in 3days for my present boss...thats like the salary of an inspector...and we all know how long it takes to get to this rank....17 to 20 yrs.. just to be paid that amount...its quite dis-heartening... i blv starting a business will be more fruitful than joining the force...

bt on the other hand...i have no serious capital to start a business and i dont know if my brothers will be willing to support me financially...am quite skeptical about that...

so thats were the confusion sets in...i might reject the offer and my brothers may later disappoint me...i might take the job...bt will not be fulfilled knowing i would have been making much more money doing business.....

pls what is the best thing to do on this issue ??
am terribly confused

In Nigeria these days, when you see what some graduates write up, then the OP is good based on that comparison. In general He is okay.

My guy,

It may be difficult to get someone to finance your business dream.

Join the Police, if you are the one who wrote all this grammar, then you are intelligent enough not to suffer in the force.

Decide on the amount you need to set up your business and give yourself like 10 years in the Police to save and raise the finance for the business.

If you follow this plan, then by 10 years time, you can kickstart your business on a part time basis. When it grow big enough, you may then decide to resign from Police and go into business full time.

Remember, the Police will open doors for you, that no business man can open for you.

Be guided, all the best.

Congrats!

Seriously 'we' the citizens are the problem with this country.

Police ain't 'play-play' you do it cos u wanna serve and protect.

If you weren't motivated...why apply?

Don't turn into those useless men harassing drivers for 'roger' at check points.

If you ain't going there to serve then pls follow ur dreams n leave the NPF job.

The other thread someone who hasn't started work is talking about allowance. Smh

Is your monthly salary as a salesman up to a police constables take home?

If not,

1) Join the Nigeria police force ( You are assured of your monthly pay)

2) Save from your monthly salaries

3) With your experience as a salesman you can start the same business in any state they deploy you to. (employ a sales girl)

4) When you've made enough cash from your business you can terminate your appointment with the NPF.

***** my opinion tho********

Well said.

There is always a starting point.and never depend on anybody else you will be dissapointed.

Pick up the police job, therefrom you can save towards your desired business venture or even further your studies.

Its not a contract job so you can resign anytime you so desire.

God bless.

You write well. This shouldn't be an impression but with the number of university graduates with poor grammar these days, your voc is worthy of notice.

It would be a grave, tactless error to ditch a government job. Don't. Take it. Start your business when you've saved enough capital. Work for government and be your own boss.

Don't ever leave the force, even for the future.

You all saying, take government Job, is everything about money these days? This guy have zero passion for police job. Is best he does something else with his time. He isn't needed in the police, he will never become a good police

If you can write well like this, then I don't think it will be difficult for you to decide what is good for yourself. Well, just take the Job and save for the business. Once you have saved enough, you may consider resigning.

How much is the salary? How will he save? Or he should join the bad eggs that extort people?

He works as a sales person, he can't make more than he will be paid as a police man. Whatever the salary is, he can save something bigger than he would save as a sales person.

He has passion for Police job that was why he applied in the first place. He doesn't even have passion for sales person that's why he is considering quitting the job to start his own or join the police. The bottom line is that he wants to make big money considering the angle he is viewing his boss' business.

Massive houses built with what salary? Bribe abi...A constable cannot comfortably build a house not to talk of massive...even America constables that re well paid can't boast of a "massive house"

join the npf, if you're a goal oriented person you can save off it, since you're still young i believe your expenses aren't much, i think you don't pay rent as well, so take the police job, any serious person can save from that

It's only in Nigeria that people join the police, not out of passion to serve and protect the masses but to make money. What a country!

My advice. Join the force, further your studies and get a degree (if you can write this well as a US, you will do very well in school). Your salary will be more than 80k when you upgrade to an ASP. Then save up money to start a business.

Police work can give you time to venture into other businesses if you are focused.

Why you shouldn't throw this chance away?

Never trust a man, be it your brother, you can get disappointed.

The path you make yourself is far honorable than the one created for you.

Finally, you can be a millionaire even as a police officer. Just know your way.
