Between Fangpusun Flexmax 60A MPPT and Epsolar's 60A itracer MPPT which one is better in terms of performance, durability and log functions? PS: any one that owns either or both should please have a say Thanks kind gurus |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by RipVanWink: 1:39pm On Dec 07, 2016 |
mctfopt: ep solar data storage/display capacity isnt as robust as morning star, i have used both, and i believe fangpusen is built along the lines of morning star/outback. the major issue i have against fangpusen is that it is a lil bulky and has an internal cooling fan, hich may fail or stop due to dirt and thus the system may overheat and spoil. 2 Likes |

RipVanWink: Hi, thanks for your review. Fan failure could be an issue with Fangpusun. Noted. So given a choice to get either one of the two which would you go for? Please if you know more about these two do let me know by dropping your comments |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by chris81964(m): 4:29pm On Dec 07, 2016 |
mctfopt: Not had a fan failure in two years of continued operations.

chris81964: he is right. mine had fan failure and I had to work external 12v fan. cause of failure is unknown but surely the vent is dusty. but FM 60 is a piece of machine. I did not regret buying one. pls go for FM 60. I respect itracer but I stick to fangpusun 60. you can thank me later.

efuro: Thank you for taking out time to answer me. Gathering from comments so far it seems we have more Fangpusun user than itracer |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by RipVanWink: 8:17pm On Dec 07, 2016 |
mctfopt: LIKELY FANGPUSEN, BUT I WOULD BE monitoring the fan like a hawk, and clean the fan vents periodically. fang shows in and out power/watt/amp, itracer only shows in. like i said fang is built after the world rennown outback and morning star...epsolar...am not exactly sure whose clone it is |

Chai my solar is suffering me now... Let me explain: I stop charging my inverter with Nepa for almost a month now and I noticed since a week ago now the battery now run down quick. I might go to work and when I get back the inverter might only last 30 nins or less. I use just a single 200ah battery and two 80 watt connect in series and 2 130watt connect in series and both now connected in series to my fangpuson cc. Do charger with only solar destroy a battery? Dmerciful and other guru please have mercy on me oh |

dicksonadams: is it old age?. how old is ur battery. also what type of charge controller do u use?...since u said serie connection, i believe its likely mppt, what make n rating? whats ur daily harvest like? is ur panel covered with dust?...go wipe them, |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Im2Busy2Bother: 5:45am On Dec 08, 2016 |
dicksonadams: Using different panel capacity sometimes confuses the MPPT. To have optimum yield it is advised to use panels of same wattage, voltage and current on a charge controller As Hon RipVanWink pointed out, dust in this dry season can reduce productivity. A quick wipe of the panel could just do the magic. Let's await the experts opinion. I'm just an enthusiast |

dicksonadams: Direct ur question to Dr. Solar (chris81964). dis is what he handles on daily basis. I hope he has enough time to chip-in few words for u. from ur piece u are not using flooded ba3 thus it is easy to sense ur ba3 is getting to its old age. at dis stage no matter d care u give it is not worth it.. I agree wit cleaning ur pv. if ur PV are accessible, y not reconfigure it to give more amps to ur ba3 (if ur using PWM). am wit u my brother, most of us fear ba3 wahala b/cos of dis terminal date. well let me stop my dance & allow more skillful dancers to take stage. |

RipVanWink: I use an mppt fangpusun 30amp charger controller, the battery is 1 year old, use it when I am back from work and weekend. Before I get 19amp from it but now it barely get to 13amp if lucky. I clean the panel last Saturday |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by chris81964(m): 10:08am On Dec 08, 2016 |
efuro: The controller was still under warranty. You should have told us before doing the repairs, the factory would have sent a replacement fan. And we have a few from other controllers we could have sent you. 2 Likes |

Like others have rightly said, it could be ur battery is not getting enough charge or near its end life. Check ur Fangpusun if the daily harvest is around 2400WH....this is what you need to charge ur battery if it was flat. dicksonadams: 1 Like |

@DUNKA Can you please post the charging parameters (Bulk, Absorb, Float and Equalize voltages) for your Mercury 220AH Tubular Batteries. I will also appreciate a review of the said batteries now that you have used them for about five months. Thank you. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by chris81964(m): 9:36pm On Dec 08, 2016 |
dapsyra:One of my clients has used them since April. He is loving them. I use 31 for equalize 29 and 27 for bulk and float. Mercury did not give any guidance. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by dapsyra(m): 10:30pm On Dec 08, 2016 |
chris81964: Thank you Chris. It is just too bad that Mercury did not put out any data/spec for them. |
