10 Most-Expensive Luxury Real Estate Locations In Nigeria

century21global.com
Demand for luxury real estate is growing in Nigeria, and so are prices.

Data from PrivateProperty.com.ng, Nigeria’s largest property portal, was used to identify 10 of the most-expensive luxury real estate locations in Nigeria, according to VenturesAfrica.

Buyers of these luxury residences are mainly expatriates and non-residents operating businesses in Nigeria, the report said. Most residents cannot afford properties in these areas.

Nigeria’s capital city, Lagos has four of the 10 most-expensive locations. Abuja has three. Ibadan, Abeokuta and Port Harcourt also made the list with some of the most expensive properties in the country. There are other places in Nigeria with expensive property that are not listed here, the report said.

10. Ibara in Abeokuta (Ogun State) – 80 million naira/$500,000
High prices are forcing many out of the Lagos real estate market, VenturesAfrica reports. Abeokuta’s real estate market is growing fast as people look to outlying locations outside Lagos.

9. Alalubosa GRA in Ibadan (Oyo State) – 100 million naira/$625,000
Ibadan has been regarded by some as the most underdeveloped city in the world, but is started living up to its potential in the past few years.

8. Lekki Scheme I, Lekki (Lagos State) – 140 million naira/$875,000
The island of Lekki has been home to some of the most expensive property in Lagos, but demand for more luxury has pushed it down to No. 8 on this list, the report said. You can buy property for $875,000 in Lekki.

7. GRA Phase 2 in Port Harcourt (Rivers State) – 145 million naira/$906,250
Port Harcourt is home to many expatriates, many of whom work for oil companies in this
oil-rich city. Other buyers here include wealthy individuals who want to keep their money locally.

6. Ikeja GRA, in Ikeja (Lagos State) – 250 million naira/$1,562,500
Ikeja GRA is an integral part of the suburb of Ikeja. The GRA, or government reservation area, was created during the colonial period as a high-end residential area. Many wealthy Nigerians who want the quiet life choose this area and don’t mind paying $1.5 million or more to get it. You’d find several expats here to, VenturesAfrica reports.

5. Nicon Town in Lekki (Lagos State) – 320 million naira/$2,000,000
Nicon Town in Lekki is one of the emerging real estate markets in Lagos, with property costing more than $2 million.

4. Jabi in Abuja (Federal Capital) – 400 million naira/$2,500,000
Nigeria’s capital city comes in at No. 4 with property at Jabi costing at least $2.5
million. Many Nigerian politicians have homes in this area.

3. Asokoro in Abuja (Federal Capital) – 418 million naira/$2,612,500
One of the major districts in Abuja, Asokoro is an upscale area. It is home to the Nigerian Presidential Complex aka State House; Aso Rock (a 400-meter rock monolith and the city’s most noticeable feature); the Economic Community of West African States, (ECOWAS), National Intelligence Agency and the World Health Organization (WHO) office. Residential property is expensive here.

2. Maitama in Abuja (Federal Capital) – 430 million naira /$2,687,500
An area occupied by embassies and high commissions, Maitama ranks No. 2 on this list. Property here can cost $2.7 million or more.

1. Banana Island in Lagos (Lagos State) – 450 million naira ($2.81 million)
A man-made island in the Lagos Lagoon, Banana Island is slightly curved in shape – like a banana. It has one of Nigeria’s highest densities of millionaires within its boundaries, VenturesAfrica reports.

A three-bedroom apartment typically sells for $625,000 on Banana Island and a five-bedroom house can cost $2.81 million. Due to the cost of property, rentals are popular here. Rent for a three-bedroom apartment can go as high as $63,000 per year.

Banana Island residents include billionaire Mike Adenuga, chairman of Globacom; and Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of a former Nigerian president.
Other notable island residents include offspring of famous Nigerians including Kola Abiola, son of the popular late businessman Moshood Kashimawo Olawale “MKO” Abiola; and Saayu Dantata, son of the late Alhassan Dantata, a Northern Nigerian kola nut seller and considered the wealthiest man in West Africa at the time of his death in 1955.

Have you asked yourself where those people stay in Abuja? Banana Island can be the most expensive house estate but maitama is a whole area comprising of several areas and Estates. Areas in Maitama include ministers Hill, Gana Street, FHA, etc. I mean very big and you can still separate rich men from wealthy men from the same maitama. There are some areas in Maitama that you just find only mansions. Most of the people in Banana Island still own houses in Abuja.

While on the subject of value, often confused by price or cost by simple minds I've been meaning to add smth from the Veep of defunct Nokia. He was in our parts around 2012 to observe mpesa operations and declared,"Europe will come to Kenya to learn about financial apps." He was on yt. Since then our entire mobile money banking sector has at least doubled in size and scope while including an even higher proportion of Kenyans.

Ok. big ask though given my schedule. Will try to squeeze in something though.

I know,my dude but its necessary for these kids to see how value can be created from the ground up-whenever you're ready. The story of our mobile money value chain is interesting. It was a gamechanger that many like India and Tz tried to copy but failed for their own reasons.

The fact that the exchange rate is not market determined, that the price of the dollar is not determined by the equilibrium of demand and supply means significantly that the dollar is officially priced far below its true market value.

Banana Island is a part of Ikoyi and ikoyi is where all the billionaires and politheifcian in Nigeria lives. It is most expensive area in Nigeria and Africa.

The whole area of Ikoyi comprises of the newer suburbs of Banana Island, Parkview Estate, Dolphin Estate, Abacha estate, Osborne Foreshore phase 1, Osborne phase 2, Old Ikoyi, Falomo, Awolowo Rd, Mojisola Onikoyi estate and other luxurious blocks of flats that are springing up etcetera.

Ikoyi has some of the most opulent residential facilities in Nigeria, and is thought to have the most expensive real estate on the entire African continent, with the average new apartment selling for US$1 million. However, due to the limited available land, many of these are vertical apartment buildings.

The thing that annoy me most is that Kenyans import beads from china.

Another thing that annoy me is that they turn a blind eye on our success but concentrate on our failures. Even in Agriculture we beat Kenya by far.

Nigeria is the largest producer of Yam, rice, casava, maize, sorghum, millet and many other crops but we don't hear people praise us for these but focus on just 4 main food items Nigerians import.

Agriculture contribute 45% of our GDP while agriculture contribute over 50% to kenya's economy. 45% of over $500 billion dollars compared to 50-60% of $60 billion dollars.

The gap is too far.

I've not even added beans, rubber, cocoa, etc.

Even though we import palm oil and rice, we are still the largest producer in Africa.

First of all, you agreed that Banana estate is the most expensive housing estate but you disagreed that it is the most expensive area because Maitama_District is bigger than Banana Island. But I said no, Ikoyi is the most expensive area in Nigeria because many expensive Estates are located in Ikoyi including Banana Island. Now, you are saying some part of Maitama is more expensive than Banana Island.

Please, tell me that part and the amount to buy a plot of land.

Please, take that the mansions in ikoyi are built on acres and not one plot of land

You didn't get my message clearly. And Ikoyi is not the most expensive area in Nigeria.

I was trying to prove to you that maitama was not an estate and but banana Island is one. Secondly, that some areas in Maitama are more expensive than banana Island.

Urghh! How disgustingly crass! Why am I not surprised; few Naijjans know the concept of value and are thus impressed by such crass vulgarity. Crass is a lack of taste or deficit of refinement or sensitivity. Nothing screams "look at me world,I'm a crass billionaire!," like this dwelling which will now enter the public discourse as the perfect example of a nigga abode.
That eye vomit of a home is why people laugh at us.
Look at RSA's,Nicky Oppenheimer

This is Tarkuni villa, the family home in the Kalahari. On paper they're worth 7 bn $

Understated elegance combined with local building material makes the whole blend into the environment. This is the home of a man with NOTHING TO PROVE TO ANYONE. Possible because their real net worth is in the trillions! For over a hundred years they've been the local and continental proxies of the Rothschilds, you've heard of them?

Through de Beers, the Oppenheimers directly control 70% of WORLDWIDE DIAMOND SALES and much of the remainder via nominees and silent partnerships. When you see S African forces involved in the E Congo its thanks to these guys. Look at Tswalu and compare with that gold plated abortion.....
Different strokes for different folks..

Example # 12647 of reckless talk that is the hallmark of foolishness explaining the delusion on this thread. With such a person a historical explanation and exposition of continental post colonial development would be playing a guitar for goats.
I'm really surprised that you replied that moniker....

I don't think you know the effect of smoking Oshogbo weed in the midnight.
That dude was in mars when he typed that Post.

The thing that any me most is that Kenyans import beads from china.

The thing that annoy me most is that they turn a blind on our success but concentrate on our failures.

It befuddles me too,it beats me why some would totally ignore the positivities,n bask overtly on the negativities of cyber-media narratives, nonetheless we mustn't shudder at their ignomynous pranks of calumnywink
