OP, screen overlays are usually from screen filter apps like Twilight, F.lux etc.
Check if you have a screen filter all installed.
Check the notification bar, usually they display a notification that they're active.
It check all your installed apps one after the other and disable it from there.

Try to boot into safe mode and see if it persists.
it could be from a malicious app.
Or if you have the Terminal app installed on your phone, type this line and screenshot the output.
It displays all installed apps on the phone.
I might be able to find the culprit app.

I've typed it, It brought out something like command that I didn't understand and I could not Boot into save mode, how will I do that please? thanks

Or alternatively you can either list all installed apps manually, or go to settings -> Apps and force close all the installed apps.

Hold power Button until the power off menu shows, then hold the power off option on the screen till it asks if you want to boot Into safe mode.

screen overlay is a bug in the android marshmallow...i had problems with it on my infinix zero 4...i was unable to grant permissions to apps cos i was using a nav bar app...so i will be force to go to settings den to apps den to the particular app....dat is floating on the screen...and disable the app from screen over laying ...ie...apps dat float on ur screen jst like facebook messenger chat heads....well since i upgraded to android 7 nougat...i no longer experience this

Hey Guys, this is Android Mobo Geek who owns almost all brand Android Devices right from Moto, LG, Nexus, HTC to Samsung and I owned these devices before a year hence they all are running on android marshmallow hence I faced Screen Overlay Detected issues on my all android devices and this error was fu***ing my a**s from centuries but finally I came across the common solution for all devices and that is by switching android to Safe Mode and then turn on all permissions of newly installed app.
Different devices have different procedure to switch the device to the Safe Mode hence you can check from below website that how to switch to Safe Mode and turn on all permissions of newly installed app to get rid of screen overlay detected asshole
