I remember those days we use to declare war on each other. It is about who bought the most bangers.

Also, after Christmas Eve service, girls and older folks are always held hostage in church until our bangers finish or soldiers come drive us.

#things we did before life took away our innocence

Mine was how me and my little one visited one of our uncles, he gave us money can't remember how much sha,he said we should shear it,after eating and everything, on our way home we had to cut the money into two unto shearing tins ooo, we got home our mama and senior ones laf wan die....chai can't forget that...lol

I remember the particular day I threw knockout close to the door of a neighbour. An old loud woman to be precise. She quickly raised an alarm. And the culprit was fished out in no time. Wanted to deny the allegation, but was forced to humble myself when dad administered me some strokes of the cane for "warm-up". That night was hell mehn... Dad flogged the devil outta me. To make matters worse, the cane was branched like a family tree, therefore one stroke was proportional to about 10 strokes. Since then I stopped throwing knockouts.

I was passing my neighbors kitchen and I parked small rice from their spoon and ate hurriedly with no one else seeing me. I was like 6years then.

My shoe and gown was to match,including my (then 50,50,naira shade, and one shinny shinny wrist watch)
On the D. Day, we'll first of all wear our new pant,and parade the whole compound,then lastly putting on our clothes,my Dad is always the first to do Christmas for us, afterward we set out on a journey,to come home late,exhausted and sleep on top of each other like log of wood.......

Christmas used to be fun before the internet and fancy gadgets.

Those days we would spend the lil cash we had on knockouts and fire crackers. I used to look forward to the movies on Xmas day even though the defunct NEPA had a habit of keeping us in darkness. The food was always a delight to look forward to, I mean those days chicken had a different effect/taste during Christmas. :

Uncles and Aunties that came visiting and always left you with a big smile by shoving some cash into your hands. It was literally the only period I didn't have to handover the money to my parents. The ecstatic feeling of wearing your Christmas cloths and then having to attend xmas concerts where all you do is dance, eat and make a request. We always looked so silly and cute when making those shout outs..lol

I remember always setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the house with dad. Now its all but good memories.

Thinking about my Christmas experience as a child still makes me laugh.
1) woke up around 3am on Xmas day to take my morning shower, when I know I wouldn't that on school days.
2) eat to the extent that I will stool and throw up @ the same time
3)used promise card to enrich my small self.
4) tore pages from my text books to decorate my room.
5)wore my Christmas cloth, only for me to stay @ home with it enjoying my chicken leg and rice.

Christmas was funny then.
My mom always take me to the market to pick my Christmas cloth, while on Christmas Eve will play with fireworks till 12 and retire to our bed. Christmas morning will share gifts and foods to neighbours and friends, after which get dressed into our cloth of the year go from one anuty to uncle to greet. we make alot of money from this ehn.that particular day, you will be feeling like a small god.
