So, what do u want us to do ? Does Sagay want us to make Buhari President for Life to prevent looting ? The more Buhari fights corruption, the more we enter recession - he is totally clueless.

Wake up bro, whether by our votes or natural cycle of life, buhari won't be president of nigeria forever. Instead of building institutions, he is busy Destroying them while some gullible citizens are cheering him on! Nigeria will out live him.

Is it a party that loots or the individuals that operate under a party? If it is by voting PDP or not, why is the party not on trial rather individuals are being investigated, arrested and prosecuted? If it is by PDP what happens to former PDP members now in APC? Do the letters 'APC' have some kind of cleansing power?

Is it not obvious that one of the major things we keep getting wrong is empowering persons rather than institutions? Why then should the presence or absence of Buhari determine continuation or reduction of corruption? Even with him there how much corruption has been dealt with? Has the police stopped harassment and collection of bribes from road users and ppl they arrest? Have contracts started being awarded transparently? Is it not the same cronyism and man know mam? Do we suddenly have better health care now that he has 'stopped' corruption? Is nepotism we see today not the height of corruption? What has happened to money disbursed for IDPs in his own domain?

Think and reason responsibly please, there's nothing special about Buhari, he's as dirty as every other politician.

You are entitled to your own opinion. But what we are saying is that there is a subconscious mindset that change of administration brings.
When IBB toppled Buhari his argument was that Buhari was too stiff and people need not to be forced to shun corruption and be disciplined. The result is the unprecedented looting of Nigeria by IBB administration. Same thing would happen if opposition (which is basically PDP) wins. They'd jettison any fight against corruption and fresh looting will carry a new dimension as this Prof rightly said.

I asked simple questions like:

Is it not obvious that one of the major things we keep getting wrong is empowering persons rather than institutions? Why then should the presence or absence of Buhari determine continuation or reduction of corruption? Even with him there how much corruption has been dealt with? These questions as u know, particularly the ones in bold, cannot be answered in the affirmative because it boils down to sick n weak institutions that do not work. U can change governments as frequently as underwear but the moment the euphoria wears off, it will remain same and worse if institutions cannot be effectively independent of powerful individuals such as Presidents.

That has been the failing of the leadership of this country since d military invasion of ds country especially from the 70's when real rot started to take root n fester till date.

We have to start somewhere. Corrupt judges were arrested people were defending them. A corrupt politician is arrested his kinsmen are protesting....
Of course fight against corruption doesn't start and end with PMB, but at least his tempo (or even more) could be sustained by a successor from his party. An opposition snatching power would set the corruption fight in reverse.
The question about police and whatever is irrelevant, because people do wrong because there isn't any consequences to their actions.

Why are there no consequences for their actions? It's not that those crimes committed by d Police are not captured in various laws with attendant punishment but who is to implement those consequences? Is it not the institutions?
No sane person queries the investigation, sanctioning and subsequent prosecution of any judge found wanting. However, there are procedures and that is where u hear the condemnation coming from because one institution deliberately usurped the powers and functionality of another institution just to achieve some ulterior, sinister activity which is yet to be unraveled.

For all those politicians tagged corrupt and subsequently arrested n charged, what is the outcome? What has become of Saraki n the CCB? They make these false starts and are unable to follow through to any logical institutions because those institutions like d EFCC are not independent and also subject to a lot of influence. For instance, is there a reason why d head of any govt agency should be appointed in acting capacity ad infinitum without confirmation and attendant statutory security of tenure? Why should Magu remain acting till date? Why isn't there a law that mandates an appointee to be confirmed within a certain period say 3 months? Do u not think d head of such organisation will be under undue influence because he hangs in limbo, not sure of whether he's in or out? Is this not an institutional weakness?

Until these really work as they ought to, no corruption fight has started. We can only say it has started when the common man like d commercial driver cam go n come in peace without parting with hard earned cash to the police n security agents illegally stationed on the roads. It is not these political gimmicks that count finally, it is what the common man can see n testify to at the end of the day and that includes good, cheap food n all he needs for himself n family. The government should work on all fronts beyond supposedly fighting corruption.
