Bayelsa Rejects Police Recruitment List, Says It’s Fraudulent by zik4ever: 10:32am On Dec 13, 2016
The Bayelsa State Government friday rejected the list of policemen recently employed by the federal government, describing it as fraudulent.

It condemned in ‘strong and unequivocal terms’, the manner and mode of the recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force and called for an immediate probe into the process.

A government statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Jonathan Obuebite, described the process as not only lopsided, but a fraud against the people of the state.

The statement noted that a situation where names of non-Bayelsans were used to fill the positions meant for the people of the state, was not acceptable and totally against the principles of federal character and due process.
According to the government, while each local government area across the country was meant to produce 10 candidates, those of Bayelsa were filled with fictitious names of persons, who are not from the particular local government areas.

The government emphasised that Bayelsa, made up of eight local government areas was entitled to 80 candidates, but added that the lopsided manner in which the recruitment exercise was conducted, has further depleted the state’s quota.
It called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Police Service and Federal Character Commissions, as well as other related agencies of the government to urgently investigate, correct the anomaly and equally bring the perpetrators of the “fraud” to book.

It stressed that failure to correct the seeming imbalance and fraud against Bayelsa and the Ijaw ethnic nationality, would be seen as a deliberate move by the Nigerian system to short-change the state, its people and the entire Ijaw ethnic nationality.

The state government called on President Muhammadu Buhari to step into the matter, arguing that it was a dent on the current fight against corruption in Nigeria.

Bayelsa had also recently protested against alleged lopsided selection of ambassadorial nominees and the recruitment into the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

One of the most silliest call I heard this year. When Northerners fought hard to ensure the recruitment was done on Local Government bases, Bayelsa State didn't protest against that but now that everything has been concluded they are crying foul. Thunder fire them there.

It's easier to notice foul play by Bayelsa state because their names are original to them you can hardly fill in their names with someone not from their state.

Waite o...what is wrong with the south mbok, this recruitment process that has been hugely applauded Across borders, as being transparent has been rejected by Bayelsa state...

are you asking me why ? is it not the state that was celebrating Alamieyeseigha even after all he did ? Is it not the state that had "Chai dis blood you are sharing" as the permanent secretary of ministry of Education ?

Transparency hurts these people, when you do it by the hook and not crook, you are bias towards them.. Ndisemmeh Ibon.

Just because it was not business as usual where by politicians nominate names and it will be granted job.

They can go and hold who ever did the aptitude test in bayelsa state responsible, beside the names and local government of the recruited guys is open they can go and verify them, after all it is not ghost that was recruited.

Dear bayelsa state government, the problem is from your LGA administrators and workers and also the kings, they dish out state of origin to non indigenes without getting to know weither if the person in question is from bayelsa at all. Also your young men/women they are not mostly interested in force work, thirdly in bayelsa they are also other tribe like isoko and urhobo, ofoni town is a perfect example. Even if FBI does the screening those from other state cant be screen out cos the state of origin is real and few can also speak izon to level. So let the sleeping dog lie. Delta bayelsa, river we are one

When I said everything done in Nigeria is through connections they doubt. Even cleaner jobs are through connections. The other day I saw a topic here "true change as a result of police recruitment" (something like that), saying Nigeria is getting better and fair. I just laughed at the naivety of some people. Well..
