Going offtopic is against the rules and might cause the deletion of some of your posts. There are times moderators make mistakes by closing a thread instead of another or by locking and linking a thread to another that has nothing to do with it.

Of course I'll be pleased if you come up to show me where I have made a mistake, but when it's done inside that particular thread it becomes a hot mess. Offtopics can't be tolerated, so I myself must be cautioned.

So if you have complaints about anything you don't find good or you think there are errors that need to be corrected, use this thread to get in touch with me, Otherwise send me an e-mail and I'll fix the problem as soon as I can.

It depends on the person who includes the pictures. Nairaland has a picture insertion feature using the link to the image and it has to be inserted properly for the picture to display properly. If it is not, the picture will not reflect properly.

I want to piece of advise if taken though on the banning of people on any of the platform here on nairaland. I was reading through @LordAdam7 view on him being banned for five months. However, considering a germane point he raised on the identity he use on this platform for so many transaction,which might hurt his connection. Based on this do I suggest, instead of outright banning, which may lead some people to exit this platform. I am even looking at some people who perhaps were pioneer members that had LEFT for good because of being banned. Irrespective of the age, people can be passionate about a view held so strong and can go off track, doesn't mean a negative thinker today cannot be a positive thinker, another day. So, I will advise to punish anyone in a milder way to have more and sustained followers . For instance, you can tell such personality to tender an online apology to the forum as well as to the offended in such a way that there is a compile lists of the offended,whom apology are tendered towards . God bless you on your effort.

Personally, if I knew a mod would view my submissions as an ethnic insult I wouldn't have bothered replying in the thread.

Anyone can read that thread to see the intellectual discussions that have been made that wouldn't have occurred if someone with valuable input had just skipped the thread.

For the record, I know I've skipped many threads for the simple reason that I didn't want a mod to take my reply out of context and deliver a harsh ban.

It's killing the quality of discussions that happen on NL, and I'm not sure Seun cares as much about the quality of discussions on NL as he wants us to believe. Else he'll reign in on the bots he employed as Moderators, who no offense, have displayed as much intelligence as three-month old toddlers.

The majority of NLs may be content viewing memes and epic clap backs and populating populist threads. And if I'm in Seun's shoes, I'd obviously focus more on this demography. But there is a significant percentage of NLs that are here to learn a lot more than whether Adaeze Yobo is exercising or if Davido's sister is pregnant.

These people need an insulated environment where their intellectual views are protected from the rancor of mindless moderation.

And if Seun can't cater to this small segment of people who enrich NL in their little way and improve the diversity of an 11 yr old NIGERIAN (not pan-Yoruba or pan-Progressives or pan-whatever) forum, then Seun should be bold enough to say so. And let people like me know I'm only coming here to check out the currency thread. And if I want to join communities where intellect is protected and promoted, I head elsewhere.

Everyone has his/her own tale it appears.

But you can see how much regard the Administration has concerning this issue that has been bandied about for a long time by numerous NLs.

Zero! To three replies.

In their defense, maybe they're cooking up a valid response. But then, if it took less than 5 minutes for my main account to be sent to 5 months ban because of a false positive, then when a complaint is raised I expect their reaction to be just as swift.

Because I know if it was an advertiser raising a complaint here, the advertiser will get a quick response + an apology for the short delay. When it comes to profiting from the platform it's a priority, but when it comes to sustaining the quality of the forum, it can wait for another day, week, month, year, decade, who bloody knows!

Maybe, they're waiting for a person to become a neo-activist who'd go around threads calling out people who felt they've been unfairly banned during their stay on NL to come share their experience here. I guarantee Seun, this thread will literally be a mile long when the replies start flowing. And then they'd have to do damage control.

I don't think it's worth it tho'. Y'd I want to do that when the same Administration has shown crass disregard for the forum.

I've learned a lot and met a lot of nice people who have impacted me positively on NL. So, it's sad watching a forum with so much potential fall through the seams without any stop-gap measure. Very sad!

I later got to realise (from a friend I made online who happens to be a friend of a "powerful" MOD ) that he has ppl who he no dey think twice to ban if they flout the rules.
At a time I got banned for speaking French, while the lady with whom I conversed walked freely.
That's how button happy the MODs are to ban those not in their good books.
As mentioned already, I'm primarily here to get informed , however I have encountered one or two wonderful persons. So for me, its win win. Forget about an uprising, no one would give a hoot if a thousand users bail out on NL, for the admin, they have a million, so a thousand makes no difference.
Same poor maintenance culture we have in Nigeria.

How can one make a story show on nairaland? i have severally written stories that have not seen the light of the day. one of my colleagues was murdered and i wanted to make it a nairaland story to create awareness but remembering that my other posts have been ignored i didnt post it

Just about now, some silly mod deleted two of my posts on two different threads.

The naijalander guy that was posting relevant Yoruba history had his non-offensive post deleted.

Whether it is some bot or some ban-happy mod, I'm unsure.

But it's important to spread awareness, and let them know we aren't oblivious to what is happening.

I'll be more of a spectator henceforth. NL is not worth it.

These were interesting times indeed, and it is indeed entertaining to ponder on the number of death proportional to the population that occurred weekly during the raids, battles, massacres, and carnage. Many innocents falling due to the ego or stupidity of their lords.

Makes you value the fact you weren't born in those times, but now that we have Geneva conventions, and war crime parlance pervading the polity of the modern world.

I was about to reply naijalander's civil reply with an explanation, and I discovered what the ethnic coward had done.

Yorubas are educated, brilliant, and proud people, but they are also treacherous. Every tribe has that one bad trait. The Igbos may be intelligent, formidable, and astute businessmen, but they are cunny. The Fulanis may be efficient organizers and very patient, but they are utterly vindictive.

If I cannot critique an historical piece about one of the big 3 tribes in Nigeria on the largest NIGERIAN forum, where can I do so without boundaries?
