Sadly, the country is in recession. My only grouse is that these girls were not informed prior to the tournament that there will be no monetary reward this time. Nigeria has got much more important issues to deal with....like the over 2 million starving IDPs living in conditions similar to concentration camps.

Those of you who think it's insensitive for the government not to pay these girls, maybe you should show the same passion for the hungry people displaced by Boko Haram. This is not the time to throw dollars around, the country is in a recession. At least, these girls had all their expenses incurred paid for by the government, and they are also well paid by their various clubs. They don't know what hunger is.

I have read people say that these girls have "worked so hard, and sacrificed so much for the country". There are soldiers earning a pittance and fighting Boko Haram, they deserve some dollars for their hard work as well.

Embarrassed to be associated with Nigeria. What a shame. A country were the heroes are neglected talk less of the ordinary citizens.

This would never have happened under GEJ, but it's happening under the daft one.

I blame GEJ for this!!!! Why did he hand us over to this dullard??

If Buhari is a dullard, it is because Nigerians are mostly dull. If Buhari is ignorant, it is because Nigeria is an ignorant society. Buhari is a reflection of the psychological and moral representation of Nigerians. The mere fact that you are asking for the return of GEJ proves my point. You guys don't learn from anything. You are like a rock; Nothing passes through it and nothing can come out of it. You as a people cannot retain knowledge. You forget too easily. Also remember, people vote for leaders who they think are like them. No one coerced them into placing their ballots for him. They saw a reflection of him in their daily lives. Now that you all are confronted with who truly represents your ideals, you are all shocked and flabbergasted. It is like looking in a mirror and not liking what you see. It will happen again. Nigeria has a history of it's people not learning from past mistakes. People who don't acknowledge history and their mistakes are doomed to repeat them. If you listen to fela's songs he released in the 70's, you'd think he released them just yesterday.

This has nothing to do with Buhari. The NFF is an independent body instituted by elections mibitiored and approved not by the government, but by FIFA in Zurich. They can't continue entering Nigeria for competitions when they don't have money and then run to the government to bail them out. Where's all the subventions and grants they get from FIFA? FIFA pays the NFF millions of dollars every year, who's accounting for all that money?
When the sports minister said that the NFF entered the super falcons into the AFCON with no idea that they would win people insulted him but that was the truth! The NFF only collected money for the government for running costs during the competition, they didn't plan for winning bonuses. Who's fault is it? The government isn't even supossed to sponsor them in the first place but when they closed their eyes and asked the NFF to bring a budget, the stupid FA that can't even carry its own financial reaponsibilities neglected to include winning bonuses in the budget because they didn't think the Falcons would win!
I suggest that the government should completely handsoff the sponsorship of football in Nigeria. Pinnick will stop looting FIFA grants when he sees there's no other source of funding fot the national teams. If the FA can't raise funds to enter any competition, the teams should not go! Let's start cutting our coats according to our size. Government sponsorship of sports is a relic of the military era where Abacha and the likes used it to gain popularity. It should be discontinued immediately.
The same stupid FA has run to the minister for bailout to pay the German coach they hired, even after the minister explicitly warned them from the onset that they would not shoulder the financial responsibility for the coach even before they hired him. When the German man now complains to the press and quits, the same stupid people will call buhari out.
NFF is an independent body only accountable to Zurich. Buhari cannot sack and appoint people into NFF.

They almost started this drama immediately they won the final match. I wonder if this would attract good clubs hiring the services of the protesters.

Even NYSC members would no embark on this disgraceful protest if their allowance is delayed.

Well said but this is not even about the fact that there are more pressing issues. This is about the FA not submitting a budget with winning bonuses included, months before the competition and then immediately after the competition, running to the government to collect the winning bonus hurriedly after the team Won. And you expect the government to immediately grant your request when you know how budgeting works. You can imagine that kind of stupid FA. The government should not even sponsor them in the first place because they have grants running into millions from FIFA in Zurich. Apart from that it's even illegal for the governmement to budget money for an agency that is not under its control and that is funded separately by FIFA. The NFF gets money for the same competitions from FIFA and the government. That is very fraudulent.

This is not a good time to be a Nigerian. Our current govt has sworn never to stop disgracing us. Even Abacha regime wasn't this bad.

I swear down... people don't realise this. Maybe because we keep saying Jonathan regime was better but the truth is even under a military junta, whether bangida, Abdul Salam or Abacha, except for his own military regime then, Nigeria wasn't this bad. The so call Buhari is such bad luck to Nigerian government. As life was tough under him then, so it is now and even if he spends another term, it's only more hardship.

Things are really bad and life is becoming more irrelevant by the day... Nigerians should do something bout this before it gets out of hand.
