"I have offers to join Fernerbahce, RB Leipzig, CDKA Moscow and Hoffeinheim in January, but for now I just want to focus on my performance for Eupen and after the season I will move,"

Is this a smart move?

I think joining Hoffeinheim or RB Leipzig would have been good for him... Hopefully, he stays fit because that is critical for a summer move.

Fernerbahce, CSKA Moscow are a no no for me. I would rather he remains in the German League than to any of the two.

Kingsley Sokari man of the match for Tunisian table toppers CS Sfaxien

Sokari wins man of the match

Former Enyimba ace Kingsley Sokari has won the man of the match award after his table-topping Tunisian club CS Sfaxien defeated Ben Guerdane 2-0 in a league game.

CS Sfaxien remain unbeaten as they continued to top the Tunisian league table with 24 points having won seven and drawn three matches.

The former Nigeria U20 star was involved in his team taking the lead in the 31st minute, before Sfaxien doubled their lead seven minutes later for them to run away with all three points.

Sokari said the award was a deserved reward for his hard work.

"I feel great and delighted to have won the man of the match award,” he said.

"I never saw it coming, but I believe this is the reward for my hard work.

"I dedicate this award to all my fans in Nigeria. I appreciate their love.”

"Europe is my next step, any good offer from top leagues in the world will be accepted,” he added.

Analysing football management globally and why Nigerian football is lagging behind

By Augustine Akhilomen

Today, football remains one of the biggest ways of generating money for any giving football clubs or national teams in the world through proper management and control of the limited resources within their disposal regardless of their success on the field of play.

Although certain clubs in Europe such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Paris Saint Germaine (PSG) with a few to mention, are known for their excellent structures, organization (plus educational institute) and marketing strategies, which in turn bring about profit-making by way of attracting multinational organization that are willing to pitch tent with them. However, there is no argument that all these won't have come to a success if those people behind the day-to-day running of the activities of the clubs are 'absolutely' not corrupt free.

Besides, the successful management of most football clubs in the world doesn't just rest on the shoulder of the club owners alone (be it government or private) but also falls within members of staff, coaches, players, medical crew and club fans because it's always a team affairs. Liberty is giving to them to exercise their responsibilities with less interference from the club owners, in a bid to achieve a common goal.

Poor management often lead to total detachment, disengagement and disruption of certain structural plans that could have been to the growth and development of a football club, something which has often caused the retrogression of Nigerian football.

In Nigeria, football is run with less vision, objectives and focus by certain individuals or group of people, which drastically has reduced our football to a level of total mess. They basically focus on how they can enrich their personal accounts to the detriment of the nation's football.

Rather than map out a structural plan that would help not just as a means of generating funds but also create a platform for football development, they end up influencing coaches decisions in areas of player’s selection, in a bid to have their players in the team for a tournament.

According to Atlanta Olympic gold medalist, Joseph Dosu, he says Nigerian football deserves total restructuring if the nation must be progressive.

"Football has gone beyond just a man-management and money making things that won't allow for collective responsibility. In Nigeria, we are where we are not just because we don't have the talents but just because some people are busy thinking of their personal interest.

"There are certain responsibilities which should have been delegated to other organ of the Nigeria Football Federation in a bid to achieve a common goal but have been smuggled by an individual so as to improve their own pockets. How then do you want our football to progress when we are not sincere?

"You can't compare how the European team manages their football with the way we does our own here because they are two different entities. In Europe they have a structure which gives room for easy development of their plans. But in Nigeria, we could hardly point at a structure because our selfish interest. As far as I am concern, what our football needs is total restructuring if we must meet up with certain standard.

It's not a surprise that the Nigeria Football Federation have done little or nothing to improving the Super Eagles as a brand locally and internationally due to their poor management skills due to over reliance on government funds. Theoretically, it's the responsibility of the organ of the marketing department of the NFF to develop a result-oriented blueprint that emphasizes more on wooing multinational companies to support the national teams.

It's also amazing that the national teams such as the Super Eagles, Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets won't be participating at next year's African Championship after the team's failure to qualify for the bi-annual tournaments. However, it's a good news that the Super Eagles are soaring high under the tutelage of Gernot Rohr like in the old days, however, the role of the technical department have been ignored by the Nigeria Football Federation. This area is also key to the survival of a nation's football considering the fact that, they help to assist the coaching crew on some technical tips, fill-in for errors and build a bond that helps to galvanize a team for future competitions.

In the words of former FIFA and CAF instructors, Adegboye Onigbinde, he revealed that nation's negligence of the technical department have affected the development of football in Nigeria.

"It's an aberration to ignore the role of a technical department in any giving football organization because of its importance in proffering solutions to certain problems. You don't expect the head of a coaching crew to know every aspect of the game of football.

"I have said these times without numbers that the development and growth of a nation's football depends on how their Football Association manages the role of the technical department in a bid to achieve positive results. It will be wrong to put the horse before the cart and that has always been the problem with Nigerian football.

Consequently, some of the clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are also suffering from the same syndrome affecting the national teams because of their failure to look beyond government support for finance in their day-to-day running of activities. A serious minded club is always bent on self determination making a means for the club and not relying on what comes out of government pocket.

Teams such as Kano Pillars, Enyimba FC, Heartland, Enugu Rangers, IfeanyiUba, Warri Wolves, Akwa United, Shooting Stars, Rivers United, Sunshine Star with a few to mention, have done little or nothing to leverage with some of the big teams in Europe because of poor marketing structures; which has reduced their standard of earnings.

In all, there is more to just establishing a football club or national teams without putting into cognizance the need for proper management because the success and failure of any football club depends on they are been managed.

This news article has nothing to do with the Super Eagles directly. It however, shows how desperate the English are at luring African players grown in England to represent them; Nigeria take note.

Alan Pardew: England must call-up Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha and boss Alan Pardew

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew says England should consider doing all they can to keep Wilfried Zaha, arguing that he has a rare talent.

The Ivory Coast FA announced last week that Zaha has applied for a change of international allegiance in order to represent them in the future.

Yet Pardew has talked up Zaha’s England prospects in recent times and now argues that the player is becoming the finished article.

“When I look at Wilf and I look at the talent, I can't see that talent in too many English players in the Premier League who are playing week in, week out,” said Pardew.

“Even when he doesn't play well, he does his defensive duties and he has to do his job. A little bit of that goes unnoticed.

“But he's stacking up the numbers and he's doing everything else. England really need to keep an eye on that situation.

“He's in brilliant form. A lot of people criticised him for his lack of assists and lack of goals but the solution lay on the training ground, in himself and my coaches.

“Myself, Kevin Keen and Keith Millen have been grinding on him about his finishing and his end product and now it's becoming a feature of his game."

City Starlet Iheanacho Fires Warning To Ighalo, Success : We Have To Win This Game

Kelechi Iheanacho expects Manchester City to bounce back when they face Watford in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Nigeria international was in City starting XI that were humiliated 4-2 by champions Leicester City this past weekend, and believes beating the Hornets will boost their confidence and send a message to their rivals for the title.

“We lost but we are still in a good position and anything can happen. We have to keep our concentration going and win our games, ” Iheanacho told mancity.com.

“The Watford game is a game we need to win and come out strongly. We have to prove to everybody that although we lost we are strong mentally.

“We have to focus on this game and make sure we get the result that we need.”

Three Nigerian strikers Odion Ighalo, Isaac Success and Stefano Okaka are in line to feature for Watford tonight.

Ndidi Photographed By HLN At Brussels After Leicester Trip; In Squad To Face Charleroi

As first reported by allnigeriasoccer.com, Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, 19, returned to Belgium on Monday after traveling to England to undergo a medical with Leicester City.

It is one hundred percent confirmed that the Racing Genk number twenty five appended his signature to a five-year deal with the Foxes after passing his medical with flying colours.

Because the transfer window is closed, the deal will go through in January subject to him being issued a work permit.

Despite missing training on Monday, Ndidi has been named in Racing Genk provisional squad that will face Charleroi in the Belgian Cup quarterfinal on Wednesday night.

Why Nigeria International Striker Has Not Debuted For KV Mechelen

It has come to light that Nigeria international Osaguona Ighodaro has yet to make his debut for KV Mechelen because of an injury.

The former Enugu Rangers and Raja Casablanca star has been given the green light to play for KV Mechelen , with Fifa ruling in October that his transfer to the Belgian First Division A side was valid.

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Ighodaro was on the brink of making his debut but picked up a tendon injury ahead of the clash, and this is expected to keep him out of action until next year.

The 26-year-old has penned a one-year contract with KV Mechelen and it is thought he won’t be offered a new deal for the simple reason that he has not had the chance to impress the coaching staff five months before the end of his contract.

Ndidi faces work permit problem

Wilfred Ndidi

Festus Abu

Versatile Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has reportedly agreed a five-year deal with Premier League champions Leicester City after completing his medical at the King Power Stadium ahead of his £15m January move to the team.

Leicester have been struggling to recapture the form of their title winning exploits of last season since French midfielder N’Golo Kante dumped the side for Chelsea in the summer.

And the Foxes’ manager Claudio Ranieri believes Ndidi, who emerged as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Belgian topflight last season, is an ideal replacement for Kante.

But our correspondent learnt on Tuesday that the 19-year-old Genk star’s move to England could be delayed by a work permit problem.

“Ndidi will certainly join Leicester in January but the deal may be delayed due to a work permit, which is not easy when non-EU player is not playing regularly for his country,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract has yet to be completed, told our correspondent.

Although Leicester are hopeful of finalising Ndidi’s move in January, a source close to the deal told our correspondent the Foxes are worried it could still fall through as the player has not played 75 per cent of competitive games for the Super Eagles.

The player would have qualified for an immediate work permit in England with Nigeria currently 50th in the latest FIFA rankings – and being a regular player for the Eagles.

However, influential Belgian outlet Het Laatste revealed on Tuesday that Leicester were ready to push the deal through.

Gent signed Ndidi, who keeps putting on head-turning performances in the Belgian league from Lagos youth side Nath Boys last year for a paltry £80,000.

Nigeria: Emeka Helps Hosts Nigeria Clinch the Points

Emeka's late strike helped CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations hosts Nigeria to a 3-2 win against Egypt in Group A on Tuesday.

With a place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup next year at stake, the home side spurned a two-goal lead as Egypt battled back through Mohamed and Abo.

However, Emeke's second strike of the match - a wonderful curled effort - proved the difference as Nigeria kicked off with a win.

Captain Olawale gave Nigeria a first-period lead with a smart finish into the bottom left-hand corner, with Egypt's best opportunity to level coming when M. Samir's effort deflected over the crossbar.

Emeka doubled the Super Sand Eagles' advantage with a cool finish past Zizo, only for Mohamed to halve the deficit shortly after.

And the sides were level through Egypt skipper Abo, prompting an enthralling final period.

Both sides looked dangerous on the attack and, while Ayalogu did well to thwart Egypt's E. Bahari, Emeka popped up again to restore Nigeria's lead with a curled finish into the top right corner.

And that strike proved the difference for the hosts, who moved to maximum points in Group A alongside Ivory Coast.

Goals: 1-0: Olawale, min. 0 (1); 2-0: Emeka, min. 8 (2); 2-1: Mohamed, min. 6 (2); 2-2: Abo, min. 1 (2); 3-2: Emeka, min. 5 (3);

“The cash is to finance his CAF election as well as that of his new ally and Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi to the FIFA Council,” a top official specially informed.

“He could even spend half his budget to support Nyantakyi.”

Pinnick plans for Nyantakyi to step down from the CAF executive committee to focus on retaining his FIFA Council position after he was first elected in September.

Both the CAF and FIFA elections are billed for March next year.

SAMMY AMEOBI SCORES IN BOLTON WANDERERS’ WIN

The 24-year-old added gloss to the Trotters big victory over the Gills in a third division match to make it two in as many games

Sammy Ameobi rounded off the scoring as Bolton Wanderers secured a 4-0 win over Gillingham in an English League One Monday night encounter.

The lanky Nigerian netted with just ten minutes of regulation time left after Gary Madine had scored on the either sides of a Josh Vela’s strike to help Phil Parkinson’s side to a comprehensive victory over Justin Edinburgh’s charges.

Ameobi has now scored in two consecutive games- after his wonderful strike against Sheffield United in a FA Cup second round clash in the Trotters’ previous outing.

The winger, on loan from Newcastle United, has
scored two goals in 16 league appearances for
the Macron Stadium outfit. And his side, one
point adrift of the top spot in the third tier table,
embark on a trip to the Proact Stadium to trade
tackles with lowly-placed Chesterfield in a league
encounter on December 17.

Rohr Wants Home Based Players To Provide Cover At Full Back, Not In Attack

Nigerian players based at home have been given a chance to stake a claim in the Super Eagles by Coach of the team Gernot Rohr.

Rohr has to that effect leave the door open for them to push for a slot in the left and right full back spot, where the team is short of options at the moments.

He has mandated his assistants, Salisu Yusuf and Imama Amakapabo to source for credible full backs in the league, who can push the foreign based options in the team for a starting spot.

The Franco-German manager urged them to lay less emphasis on attacking players as the team is well stock upfront with talented foreign based stars, who have been delivering both for the team and their club sides.

So far Yusuf and Imama have been putting together possible names, who are most likely to be tried out during the friendly game against Egypt scheduled for next year.

That's fine as long as the player possesses the quality to be a 'cover' at that position.

pls I had an argument with a friend on why Kanu Nwankwo was one of d best striker to have come out of Nigeria that w always be on my S/E xi but my friend disagreed that cannot w never make his S/E xi,citing his reasons like 87 appearances wit 12 goal,5 Afcon,3 W/C without a goal.

He said i should do my research and i did thorough research on d past and present S/E attacking players with Rasheed Yekini 58 app/37 goals,Segun Odegbami 46 app/23goals,Yakubu Aiyegbeni 57/21 goals,Obafemi Martins 41 app/18,Samson siasia 51 app/16 goals,Aghaowa 32 app/14 goals,Daniel Amokachie 44 app/13 goals,Ahmed Musa 60 app/11 goals,Osase Odewengie app 63/10 goals,Amuneke 27 app/9 goals,Victor Moses 27 app/9 goals,Emenike 37 app/9 goals,Victor Ikpeba 31 app/7 goals,Ideye 27 app/6 goals,Finidi 62 app/6 goals,Agali 12 app/5 goals,Babaginda 36 app/5 goals.

After this,i told him Kanu has more assists than any Nigeria player which he disagreed, citing Amokachie, Siasia and Finidi as d best in assists in super eagle history.

I told him look this guy won Africa footballer of d year twice,he said Ikpeba won it also,is Ikpeba rated than Okocha or Amokachie when w talk of super eagles.

Pls house what really make Kanu so special that he was so valuable to super eagle during his playing career coz i respect his talent than any other Nigeria striker.

Firstly Kanu Nwankwo was never a CF. He was more of a supporting striker and an Attacking midfielder. He even started off as a midfielder at FIFA U17 WC.

He brought a lot to the game. He was so brilliant on the ball and possessed killer skills and tricks to outwit opponents.

He was the type that would always engage defenders thereby creating penalties and free-kicks in very dangerous positions.

However, Kanu Nwankwo achieved more at club level than at national team level. There are players like that.

Take a look at some one like Abedi Pele. What did he achieve with the Ghanaian national team. He didn't even play at the World Cup. But his exploits at Olympic Marseille were enormous.

Lionel Messi is popular today mostly bc of his heroics at Barcelona and not as an Argentine national team player.

Then also, statistics don't always tell the true story. It does not always give the full picture.

On current form, there is legitimate reason to call him up for the super eagles.

His decision to wait till the summer before leaving Eupen might be a good or a bad decision.

He deserves a call definitely. This one will give Musa and Simon problems. This highlights show he's a really good player. And he's just 19. He's very confident too. With this confidence, he should wait till the end of the season. The coach at Leipig might not want to change a winning team.

Icon4s:

I dey tellsssss yoooouuuu... Dude is a bad-ass.

He can play as a CF but that's not his strong position shaa. He's more of Wing Forward. Basically a LWF and can play RWF too.

Nigeria have always been blessed with quality wingers and wing forwards but for a while now, our left wing/left forward position have lacked quality.

With the rise of Onyekuru, Simon moses, Alex Iwobi (who can play centrally also) and more, Nigeria is on the rise again.

Back then in the first golden era it was Amuneke... Right now, my mouth is watering again.... Our second golden era offers so much potentials... Just pray Sir Icon4s' heart will grow fonder again. wink

Nigeria Professional Football League side, Rivers United continued their awesome pre-season form as they beat the Villarreal B team side by a lone goal on Wednesday in a friendly game.

Guy Kuemian's solitary strike in the 24th minute was enough to give the "Pride of Rivers" a morale booster.

Rivers United last Sunday had emerged champions of the Nigeria Professional Football
League (NPFL) Super 4 in Enugu.

The competition featured three other football clubs that will represent Nigeria in Caf club
competitions in 2017; Enugu Rangers, Wikki Tourists and FC Ifeanyiubah (FCIU).

Rivers United finished the competition with six points from three matches, one point more
than Enugu Rangers who finished in second place.

Aside Wednesday's game, while in Madrid, Rivers United FC is expected to face a La Liga club in a tune up game while proposed friendly matches have already been lined up against
Segunda B clubs, Levante Union Deportiva II and Club Deportivo Alcoyano.

The Rivers United squad will also attend training sessions of a La Liga club (as well as the sessions of the youth teams of the club).

A guided tour to the storied home of reigning European champions, Real Madrid, the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu has also been lined up.

The technical crew of Rivers United led by manager, Stanley Eguma is also expected to be
huge beneficiaries of the programme as a crash course on coaching methodology has already been arranged with the La Liga club.

The Rivers United contingent is due back in Nigeria on Thursday, December 22. Rivers United will represent Nigeria in the 2017 Caf
Champions League.

Rohr Inspects Super Eagles 2017 Jersey,
Wants Nike To Change The Colour

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has expressed his views on the design of the Super Eagles 2017 jersey.

Rohr was with chiefs of the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF) in London where the jersey was shown to him, and he pointed some certain areas he wants the manufactures to address.

He was particular about the colours in some areas of the jersey which according to him makes it hard to properly see some of the players, but he was overall satisfied with the jersey.

”Am satisfied with the jersey, they did a good
job, very professional I must say but there are
some areas I told them I want them to address”
Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com from London.

Nike were asked by the Franco German coach to make the jersey light green, so as to ensure
proper visibility of the players, and to also make
the texture a bit light due to the heat in Africa.

Did you notice how Messi-esque that goal was? When do we invite this guy to the Eagles?
