Concerning invitation to the Super Eagles.... Well, bringing him in for one of the friendlies before the cameroun double-header will be a good idea. A lotta competition is truly hotting up for the longest of runs in the Super Eagles. Henry "fast, sleeky and furious" Onyekuru is another real deal. Sir Icon4s!!!!! No worry, this generation no go disappoint. joseph1013: 2 Likes |

I don't like what has happened to Imoh Ezekiel. He's a talented young man, who I think is better than Simon Moses. Gutted he's got himself into irrelevance by chasing money so early in his career. 1 Like |

tbaba1234: Did you guys watch the last match? The Referees in the last two games are allowing players foul City without blowing. This is more of a physical set up. It has nothing to do with Kelechi's confidence. Nolito can also play attack. In the last match, he played as a striker. Nolito who was a key player for Spain at the Euros, one of the best La Liga players last season sat on the bench in the last game. Na wa. Any small thing, you talk out of context. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Kelechi is the only out and out striker in the team and he is being benched when Aguero is out.. When a coach lacks confidence in a player, it affects the player's confidence. It is quite clear to me that Pep has no confidence in Kelechi and it is affecting his displays. He looks bereft of self confidence. 5 Likes |

I Like Henry Onyekuru A lot – Rohr Confesses Love For Red Hot Belgium Based Nigerian Forward The fine form of Eupen Nigerian forward Henry Onyekuru has caught the attention of the coach of the Nigeria national team Gernot Rohr, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal. Last night Onyekuru took his season goal tally to 10 for the season in Eupen’s 4-0 win over Kortrijk in the Belgian Cup, his second goal in consecutive game after netting against Charleroi over the weekend. 19 year old Onyekuru is in his first season in the Belgian top flight league after winning promotion with Eupen to the top division, where his six goals played a big role in their eventual promotion. ”We aware of his exploits in Belgium, am very happy and have seen his games. I love him a lot. He has something I fancy and love in a forward, he is doing well in a league that is well respected”, Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com in London. ”Too early to say if we are going to call him up but we are watching him at close quarters and monitoring his progress, hopefully, if he keeps performing well for his team, then we have no choice than to call him up”. tbaba1234: Kelechi being the only out and out striker does not stop the coach's flexibility in options. Nolito can play the attack. Yet, Guardiola chose Nacho to play upfront in two games. If that is not confidence in Nacho, what is? |

Fred Friday Ends Four Months Goal Drought For AZ Alkmaar 21 year old Nigerian forward Fred Friday ended a run of 18 games without a goal for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, netting with less than three minutes left to play in their 2-0 Cup win over ASWH. Signed in the summer from Lillestrom of Norway he has struggled in front of goal since scoring his first goal for the team in their 3-0 win over Serbian side Vojvodina in the Europa League on the 18th of August. He will be hoping that the goal bring about a change of fortune for him with the first team, where he has struggled in front of goal particulary in the league. After 11 games in the league he is still searching for his first league goal, which is a surprise to many due to how his goal scoring abilities in Norway prior to his transfer to the Dutch side. His poor form in front of goal made the club to play him in games for the B team, where he showed his prowess with four goals in three games including a brace in their 5-1 thrashing of TEC. Super Eagles Ace Kingsley Madu Open Goal Account In Spectacular Fashion For Zulte Waregem Kingsley Madu rounded up scoring for Belgian side Zulte Waregem to help them beat St. Truiden 2-0 in the Beker Van Belgie populary called the Belgian Cup. Madu killed off any hope of a late comeback from the visitors when he scored on the dot of full time, leaving St. Truiden with no chance of a comeback. The former AS Trencin man who celebrated his birthday at the start of the week dribbled his way past three defenders before slipping the ball under the goalkepper. He has found games hard to come by in the league even though coach Francky Drury publicly confessed his likeness for the 21 year old during a TV show, while discussing his team shock rise to the top of the league in Belgium. So far he has played just one league game, where he lasted just four minutes but he has played in their two games in the Cup. If he moves to a bigger league and is coached by some top coaches, he won't have any business scoring this goal. He'd be taught to pass the ball. As they say "Na small thing de make person lose shirt". I have watched him a couple of times and he's a very very good player along with another player called Sylla, they are the shining lights of Eupen. But as both of them are really good, they are very selfish with the ball. A little more "passings" to his game and he'd almost be the finished product. TheSuperNerd: |

You just said it all, very very good and skillful player, but he hugs the ball a lot. Well to his credit, he 80 percent makes positive moves from the ball hugging. If this guy decides to start passing more to his teammates, he could be mentioned in the same statement as an Alexis Sanchez in terms of ball playing abilities (not trophies). He needs to be focused and stay dedicated to improving his game. This guy could easily push Iwobi out of the left wing for SE and make Iwobi focus more on playing CM for Naija. Well, only time would tell. tbaba1234: |

TheGoodJoe: Nawa o. So let me ask, when was the last time Guardiola used a winger in place of Aguero? The only time he tried something similar to that was against Barca and he subbed in Aguero almost immediately after half time. Nolito is extremely poor as a CF, he has never played as a CF for Spain, that's why Spain used to invite a lot of average strikers, if Nolito could play there then they wouldn't be wasting their time with players like Vitolo up top. In his last season at Celta, Nolito did not play as a CF, not even once, he played as a CF during his Barca days almost 6 years ago but yesterday he was favoured just because the coach does not like Iheanacho simple. You were saying after the last match that Nacho impressed you, well I guess he didn't impress the coach did he? And what does Nolito have that Iheanacho cannot better? The two CBs for Watford were not fast neither were they that strong, so why was Nacho sitting on the bench? Is Nolito more physical than Nacho? Does he 'press' more than Nacho(according to you)? Don't tell me that the coach was trying to check a new formation or something more ridiculous than that because this was a must win game for him and he used the strongest squad he had available to him. 1 Like |

tbaba1234: not to mention that he is showing off his selfishness against Belgian defenders so he gets away with most of them. I just watched an extended highlight of his games, he could have easily had 6 assists more than he has now, against better defenders he might not be that lucky. Let him move first |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 6:18am On Dec 15, 2016 |
Mickael2: The reason coaches play gifted players wide is to give the team ease to break in defence from the wings. Nolito can play nine but he contributes more to the team from the left side. If they were better players who could play with speed and skills at Celta, Nolito would have played up front. Sterling has played upfront. Sane this season played there. In the game against Leicester City, Nolito played upfront when he came on. As for Pressing, remember Nolito played under Guardiola and Enrique in the Barca B team. He grew up under the Barcelona system. Unlike other players, he spent very long time learning the system. That is why Enrique And Guardiola battled for him. He does not need adaptation to the system. |

TheSuperNerd: We have quality in Iwobi and Moses in LWF and RWF positions. Where we lack quality is the CF position. And I think we can try him there. At bolded, u think that guy is better than Iwobi and Moses? . So because of a 2min clips of Onyekuru you don run down grade Iwobi to "lack of quality".U guys can easily believe any thing sha. Let him come to camp first then we size him up. As for my heart growing fonder, I can only hope this crop don't disappoint. This is not the first time we will be seeing an emergence of so many quality Nigerian players. The system is just sickening. Just take a look at the Super Falcons case. |
