1. In ur proof, it was clearly stated that 'result' was used in the noun sense, while in ur statement u quoted, it was playing the role of a verb, Parts of Speech things. (Get urself Brighter Grammar)
2. The use of the word 'result' in that sense suggests that the speaker/writer learnt English from the street rather than through the formal method cos when the word 'resort' is pronounced, it sounds like 'result' which is more familiar than the former and street boys assume it is 'result'. Go and find out the meaning of 'resort' and learn how it is used.
This is similar to the use of the following pairs interchangeably which is wrong; their/there, curse/cause been/being, etc.

First, u have agreed that u goofed.
On the use of letters in place of words, that is arguably a generally accepted norm/abbreviation on social media and ones use of English cannot be assessed on that basis. Same applies to the use of slangs. But same cannot be said of the use words which are in direct conflict with the rules of grammar in English language.
Rather than breaking the rules of grammar, why not use pidgin? At least, rule no dey for dat one and it is accepted on nl.

First, 'break down' is not a word but a phrase.
Secondly, it is not an informal expression.
Thirdly, it can be used in place of the word 'collapse'.
That is the relationship.
But in ur own case, 'resort' and 'result' are separate words.
They have entirely different meanings.
They are only related in sounds when pronounced without applying the proper rules of phonetics and that is where u got it confused thinking they can be interchangeably used.
The apparent finality in their meanings and use does not in any way suggests that they are similar in meaning.
Argument in favour of their interchangeable use suggests total ignorance of their separate meanings.
Finally, in an attempt to prove this rotten point, u are getting urself more involved in grammatical blunders.

The difference between formal and informal writing lies in the fact that while slangs and non universal abbreviations are allowed in the latter, they are not in the former. It is not about committing unacceptable grammatical blunders and be claiming one form of writing or the other. Even in this reference, I have not seen where a word having one meaning was substituted for another word with an entirely different meaning.
First, it was typo, later an attempt was made to prove the correctness (with a reference) and finally, it is about being formal/informal.
