TONYE001: Indeed HE is. I have a similar story. 4 admission letters, Remedial prog, a B.Sc in Economics, post graduate Interior Design, NYSC.... 8 years later I made it. I just got admitted into MBBS University of Abuja. Looking forward to seeing you around. Thanks for sharing as I was feeling ancient before. I believe everyone's journey is unique...we might take some detours but we are on our way. What matters is that we get there. To all my fellow students, aspirants & doctors: We start this journey not on our first day in class but the day we made up our mind to be doctors. Let's never forget WHY. Every decision & circumstance has been shaping us to be the best version of what humanity needs. Here's to keeping the HOPE alive. Don't listen when they tell you to give up or you can't. I'm a living testimony of that. After 8 years I dusted my science books and crash studied in just 1 month & scored JAMB like never before! Not in any of my 3 tries. The only voice that determines your success is yours. Tell yourself that you can do it & you CAN! Mostly PRAY hard cos ONLY GOD can do it for you. Thank you for reading. Hope my words will lift someone's spirit. 12 Likes |

hauwas:When I read your story and Tonye's, I just couldn't hold back myself from commenting. Both of you really tried o. You went through all that and came back for Medicine..LOL. I got it after staying @ home for 4 yrs. I'll say Twas due to misplaced priorities. After taking waec exam, I enrolled for a ND program. Did pre-degree in OAU - I wanted Dentistry though, but got physiotherapy/Medical Rehabilitation. I didn't accept the admission cos I wanted a course/profession that will allow me to dissect and work on human organs. Then I enrolled for the Basic Program in Uniport am glad I made - there were challenges though. Now M resuming January. Seriously, when I look back at all I've gone through for MBBS, I see nothing but a bright future for me. Saving lives is my calling - I've been hearing scary stories though. I've been following this thread since I was in Secondary school, but I didn't had the courage to comment cos I wasnt in the league then. 3 Likes |

simba1:used to be a zikite but stopped when I couldn't switch.. It's e even more difficult now because a matriculated student of any uni won't be allowed to take jamb meaning you can't be in school and still resit jamb so if u don't like the course you are given, it's better not to accept it if your not sure of your chances of switching because if you do you would have to finish that course before applying for another jamb unlike before where one can be studying a less preferred course and still be writing jamb |

The SCAPLES [The Dead teaching the Living] . His name is Chijioke, average in height... With his thick dread locked long hairs and well carved bears..... Looking very young I guessed him to be in his late 20s or early 30s.... he had a chocolate skin now black due to the manifestation of the preservatives.... Lying in the Supine position, adjacent to him is Okechukwu, he looks like a giant, with his fine low black hair cut and bears.... smiling at the uncertainty, the mouth half covered, some upper path of his teeth showing.... On the tags placed on their wrist and ankle, the former Died on the 26th day of August 2016, while the later Died on 16th of september 2016.... That's the two cadavers that really caught my attention aside many others that were lying in supine position, some cut beyond recognition while others are yet uncut, all littered as We all entered the Gross Anatomy Laboratory, Dept of Anatomy, College of Medicine..... for one of the preclinical practicals..... DISSECTION . I have been hearing about this cadaveric experiences, but I never expected it to be like this, at least not so soon..... I wasn't really scared at first but when reality dawns, I was a bit shaken when the instructions for us to dissect the cadaver came..... I refused to swallow my saliva throughout the section, I vomited once and spitted many times....The smell of the formalin and the cadavers wasn't funny, I refused to dissect because I want to make sure that those cadavers won't wake up and tell us that we are hurting them.... As the lab attendant will say, "find the cephalic vein and appreciate it" I began to ask myself what kind of anatomical terminology was that....what are we appreciating please . It was really nice seeing and feeling the cutaneous nerves and the cephalic veins from the deltopectoral groove running through the arm... Indeed, the road to been a doctor is not easy, somehow, I wish its the last day to that Anatomy practicals, but only for my mind to bring me back to reality that it is actually the first time and I will be there for 1yr and 4 months. . I imagined this people when they are alive, when they were energetic.....full of life.... How Chijioke will be flaunting his manliness and dread locks..... How he will have a nickname like everyone else, probably his friends nick naming him "Dada" I imagined where he is now.....if his spirit will be somewhere around the corner watching people dressed on cooperate wears, with white lab coats to match, wearing surgical/Dissecting gloves and mask, with scaples in their hands, using him to practicalize how to become Surgeons.... Honestly, getting medsurg/dentalsurg sounded so sweet and mighty, but passing through the college is where the work lies..... More respects to all the MBBS/BDS graduates......u really passed through acid tests..... A welcome to Medical/Dental school....where the Dead teaches the Living . Written By: .
