You make me laugh. grin
Russia is only in syria to strengthen president assad. Nothing else.
Palmyra was "given back" to isis by russia/assad some days ago. They did that to make a point.

In my own view, the syrians themselves are big fools.
Why do they allow the international politics kill hundreds of thousands of their people. And their country utterly destroyed.
All countries involved in syria issue are just after their selfish gains.

Yes, obviously Russia is in Syria to prop up Assad. How else is Russia going to keep Iran strong enough to offset Saudi?

Palmyra was not "given back"

Pre-94 it was literally hard to get to South Africa. Remembering when I was a kid, the borders were flooded with soldiers on horses, bikes and SAMIL 20s and some point I saw Elands on border patrols.... The fence itself was a magnificent infrastructure, you could literally see the electrified fence going as far the eye can see with no vegetation next to it. It was maintained in some way during Nelson Mandela's era, then Thabo Mbeki with his fictional mind removed the SANDF and the Mozambicans didn't just flood the area but they also proceeded in stealing the border fence itself.

thats epic if true !!!!!

It's armament is 1 x 30mm, 2 x 14.5mm, 2 x 40mm grenade launcher. It also carries a VBSS compliment on board and 2 x Rhibs.
This seems about right for a 40 meters patrol vessel. Atleast, it is better armed than the Fouladou OPV-190 which Senegal recently acquired.

It's well armed. Maybe the larger vessel currently been built would come even better armed.

There is nothing trashy about his facts.
Use alternate facts to counter him. IF you actually have those facts.
Instead of abusing him for having an opposing view of your dictator
No matter how hard u chaps try, we cannot all kiss buhari's ass just to make you happy

Just because someone doesn't agree with you, you start calling him names- junk etc
Very poor manners if i may say so.
We all know most of the equipments landing now were ordered and paid for by the previous administration.
Including the ships, mushaks, jf17, helicopters etc
The truth can never be hidden.
Like milk, it will ALWAYS rise to the top.
And i put it to you that Buhari is an illiterate dictator and demigod lacking in intellect, vision and completely clueless...

@ IbnSultaan his a junk and how it's not hard to tell that the guy just hates PMB. Well d only advice I av for u is to hug a transformer.... shocked

How can someone say PMB hasn't buy a single bullet; what about all the airforce procurement that's on there way, 1st the junk guy said it's all a lie, thank God we av seeing the Mushshak, when the other start arriving I'll know how to deal.with such junk, till then all fingers are crossed.

In the army there are still some few new hardware and more to come.

You know uncultured individuals when they find it had to engage in civil discuss without insults .

FG remains committed to upgrading the capabilities of the Armed forces & providing full support even do resources today are limited n prev govt failed to maximise defence funds.

2016 budget funded the super mushshak , JF17 , n other hardwares across the tri service.
2017 is a little bit more (no details yet

Congratulations indeed smiley

Yes, we actually do deserve it. When you consider that in 2006, we bought 500+ Inshore Patrol crafts, all of them from Singapore and the Netherlands. Between January 2015 and today, we have purchased a total 261 Inshore Patrol Crafts, of this number only 9 units were purchased from abroad. 252 units are from local suppliers.

Millions of dollars have been saved, hundreds of jobs saved, hundreds more created, the value chain reached by localisation, national pride.

Funny thing is the project (NNS Karaduwa), a 24 year old Nigerian spear headed the quality team that ensured the ship meets national and international standards (ABS).

Oga henry how logical is it ,if a ciws(ak 630 or denel) is used on a boat(20-40m) as its main gun.

the question might seem odd.

@nemesis any technical ideas.

Denel produces no CIWS. The infrastructure simply isn't there to support it. CIWS is an air defence system, although with a manual override it can be used as an area defence weapon. However it is not designed to be used that way.

The best gun for what you're trying to achieve, Area Defence and Air Defence is the BAE systems 40mm naval gun. It's a very beautiful weapon system. Rapid rate of fire et al.

I also like the South-Korean concept, adding a guided rocket artillery system to boats of that class.

soory at first i thought u were asking about rcws , later realized u meant ciws.

it is a good idea , depending on the requirements . since ciws has been implemented in land systems already for dual role of anti air and anti ground.

installing a ciws means hull penetration will be necessary ,
but the psychological effect of a high volume fire weapon will deter all pirates , and other light/medium caliber armed combatants etc

added benefit of anti air protection

some sort of tweating will be required to reduce the rate of fire , so as to conserve ammo and prolong barrel life , i actually like the idea .

why i like the idea
1.deterrent effect
2.even with a small time window of 1 second u will be able to pump out 500+ rounds and then scoot (run)
3.everybody wants to be cremated / buried with atleast some part of his body intact grin grin , so psychological effect is high here.

ak630 calibre 30mm, range 4km, rate of fire 5,000 rounds per minute
all these r good figures for a weapon if fitted onto a patrol boat

will just need trigger discipline

You should be very careful before saying "Denel" and "does not produce" in the same sentence
