naval SOP are strict , in practice short bursts r fired for 2-3 seconds not 2-5 minutes as u wrote.

also reloading for russian ciws happens below deck, new ammo drums r automatically engaged when the guns finishes its current ammo .

dont know about the western ones.

a 20mm or 30mm rcws can intercept an incoming missile if it is provided with a top of the line FCS with good sea clutter rejecting capability and equipped to fire AHEAD type ammo

In all, multiple factors come into play, as regards the initial comments from Giles14, it might be too expensive to integrate a CIWS on a small 20 - 40 meters boat, especially when taken into account the cost to benefit ratio.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you, you start calling him names- junk etc
Very poor manners if i may say so.
We all know most of the equipments landing now were ordered and paid for by the previous administration.
Including the ships, mushaks, jf17, helicopters etc
The truth can never be hidden.
Like milk, it will ALWAYS rise to the top.
And i put it to you that Buhari is an illiterate dictator and demigod lacking in intellect, vision and completely clueless...

Another trash and junk. Show me a link where the order of jf17 was placed by the last administration.

Why should someone agree with me or what I believe his true or not. We only saw the pictures of the former CAS in Pakistan, taking pictures with jf 17 and nothing never happened. The order of JF 17 first appeared in last year budget together with other birds. I know of six MI-35MS that was ordered 2014 till now we haven't seeing anything.

So stop displaying ur ignorance.

Did it now kill you to post the information here?

So you're just going to disown that definitive untruth that "Denel produces no CIWS"? No maybe, no I'm not sure, no googling, just ignorant certainty.

That's were the difference lies, our's is a Patrol vessel. What you shared is a missile boat. Different types of vessels. If we want to build a missile boat, perhaps all these would be incorporated.

Thanks to the link provided by Nemesis2u, I've now found out boats can carry CIWS. However, I'm still of the opinion that a 40mm would be most ideal.
when u strip a missile boat of its missiles it turns to a patrol boat.
just as SAN did with its sa'ar 4missile boats

So you do produce a CIWS. Is it operational?

Read carefully, and then, you respond, don't respond because you've got itchy fingers. The question mark, "?" is there for a reason.

Deaths after attack on Burkina Faso army base
Eleven soldiers in Burkina Faso have been killed by Islamist militants near the border with Mali, the army says.

Two others are missing following the attack on an army base by about 40 militants.

They rode in on pick-up trucks and motorbikes, waving black flags.

The soldiers had been deployed to the area to guard Burkina Faso's long and porous border with Mali, where a number of Islamist groups are active.

In January, jihadists killed 30 people in a hotel attack in the Burkinabe capital, Ouagadougou.

It seems you don't know we are posting on topic. The rules are, any discussion has to be based on the photos shared.

I've been posting photos of our new boat, Giles14 then asks, can't we have an RCWS or an CIWS on our boat. To which I've answered that the boat has a 30mm RCWS.

He goes on to say, but Cameroun has anti-ship missiles, we need a CIWS on the boat etc etc etc. That's the genesis of this discussion.

So Nemesis2u, I demand a full apology for your wrong accusation. grin grin grin

Eleven killed in attack on Burkina Faso military post

A military post in northern Burkina Faso close to the borders with Mali was the target of a coordinated assault early this morning. At least 11 Burkinabe soldiers and one gendarme were killed in the attack, which was attributed to jihadists. Reuters reported Friday’s attack about 19 miles from the Malian border began at around 5 a.m. local time and was carried out “by about 40 heavily armed individuals who have not yet been identified,” the army told them in a statement.

Local media added that some of the dead were killed after being burned alive, while military equipment, including vehicles, were taken from the post during the assault.

OUAGADOUGOU Dec 16 (Reuters) - Ten soldiers and a gendarme in northern Burkina Faso were killed on Friday in an attack by unidentified gunmen on a military post, the army said.

Attacks in Burkina Faso were rare before a major strike by al Qaeda-linked fighters on a hotel in the capital Ouagadougou killed 29 people in January.

Islamic militants are active in Burkina Faso's northern neighbour Mali and Burkinabe authorities are concerned the long desert border between the two countries could become a transit point for militants.

Friday's attack about 30 km (19 miles) from the Malian border began at around 5 a.m. (0500 GMT) and was carried out "by about 40 heavily armed individuals who have not yet been identified," the army said in a statement.

A newly-formed militant group led by a fighter formerly loyal to Algeria's Mokhtar Belmokhtar claimed to have attacked a Burkinabe military position in September and unidentified gunmen killed three Burkinabe soldiers and two civilians in October. there is more benefit to it than cost.
accuracy
efficiency
and above all its cost effective

Dude really? In almost every Valour class photo ever posted on this thread you can see Denel's 35mm Dual Purpose Gun!!

I never even noticed those guns ever before, that's is, until today. I only just assumed, it has a CIWS for sure. No idea it's from Denel either.
