Pls whatever application you and @lovetrumps wanna apply for your spouse and /or child, don't use online method or else Accra will just sit on it for long. Lol. Use paper route because it will be processed in Lagos (atleast based on recent applications).

[quote author=StudentsNG post=52028815]

In my case, University of Regina took about 5 months to process my admission! I strongly doubt that they will respond to an admission request in 7 days. U of R is one of the most sought after school in that region due to their high standard and comparably low fees for Masters Degree Programmes. I confirmed this while curious as to why my admission/rejection took time, U of R is one of the schools in Canada that take time to process admissions.

I applied June 09, and got conditional admission October 5th. My conditions were reference letters to be sent by post (instead of e-mail) and my original certificate to be presented. The first one has been fulfiled, and I am set to travel with the certificate as I have only one copy and cannot afford to risk sending it by courier. Kindly note that I used the same conditional admission letter to apply for TRV and still got it in 1 month and 4 days, so conditional and no conditional is not an issue (provided those conditions are easily met).

In my opinion, I would suggest that you also apply for another school while you wait (just in case). In my time I applied for Carleton and got admitted in 2 weeks while still waiting for U of R. However I have chosen to go to U of R for some reasons. I'll be here to help anytime you need help regarding U of R. I should be in Regina by December 20th. Cheers guy!,

[Thank you for your time. Please I'd also like to know if it's really necessary for me to send in a letter that shows my undergraduate program was in English. They didn't ask anyways, and it was clearly stated in my check list that English proficiency test score not required. ]

A big congrats on your approval! i need your help please. Just like @lovetrumps I will be taking my child along. The cic website information is a bit confusing, that minor whose parents have been issued a work/study permit doesn't need a study permit IF they are in Canada already. I'm really confused. Should I fill a study permit form or just merely indicating we will be going together when filling the form will suffice?
Once you include your child in a joint application for study permit; you will fill another 'study permit' form for your child!
You will sure indicate on the form that the minor child will accompany you..
It is only allowed that " for a minor accompanying a person identified as a temporary visitor on work or study permit, a letter of acceptance from schools or institution is NOT required"
So please follow that line.... It's only left to you to prove financial capability to support your accompanying child without recourse to public funds.
Regards.

Hmm... I wouldn't recommend for anyone (particularly undergraduate applicants) to go to Canada without access to funds that cover AT LEAST one year. You WILL suffer. While there are schools like uWaterloo that have very lengthy co-ops that enable the student to make enough money to pay a good fraction of your fees (assuming your course is in a highly-paid hot area like computer science), this is very uncommon.

Even with uWaterloo, undergraduate applicants in particular NEED to make sure that they have at least one year's worth of tuition and room and board. It WILL be an extremely difficult life in every way if you plan to go to Canada with little to zero funds, especially for an undergraduate in his/her teenage years or very early twenties. I speak from experience here, as I know several friends that tried this when we were undergrads... most did badly in school (one now works as a plumber, and it wasn't by choice... he couldn't get a decent job... I'm not joking), some were kicked out of school (two got deported as they were now illegal in the country); only a few were able to do it successfully (maybe 15%.. but these were the ones who had family or family friends around to bail them out or take them in if they were in the worst dire straits).

Also, don't forget that Canada is a very cold country. So if you ever end up getting stranded without a place to stay on a cold day, or if you can't afford to buy very good cold weather clothing, or if you are hungry, YOU WILL BE ROYALLY SCREWED and your health could be in serious danger. Please no undergraduate applicant should plan going to Canada without at least enough funds for the first year. I'd recommend making sure your sponsor can at least afford 75% of your total expenses for each year of your study, or at least 75% of what you need for your first two years.

If you are are going to a place like uWaterloo's co-op program AND you are studying a hot course like computer science, then maybe (and I still am reluctant to say this) only having one year's worth of funds might work. But do not try it otherwise.
cc: Teeewhyy

Rightly said. I know what it feels like to be broke in another country, it's not a joking matter. Depression go come dey enter small small

Personally I'm not moving an inch if I don't have enough money to cover my 2 years course nd at last 6 months house rent in Canada, cash in hand.

Cant come nd be suffering when i should be enjoying

More like a Graduate Certificate. I asked an Admissions personnel what it's equivalent is and was told by the lady it is University masters' equivalent. That's what I was told. Plus all the abbreviations used here could take some getting used to. So whatever it is, it sha isn't an undergrad programme or diploma. Y'all kindly don't dwell on it. If there's a correction to be made, someone should make it and let's move forward remaining hopeful. Thanks.

Absolutely. we aren't dwelling on it. i'm sure myself and the rest that asked just want to be better informed as it concerns you directly and may guide others seeking to apply for same program too.The may have been a change to programs in your school which we are unaware of.
All the same, since you have applied for your study permit already, I can only wish the best for you and hopefully, things turns out well and in your favour.
People here are readily willing to assist you should you need to ask about useful info or better understand an abbreviation. Feel welcome to ask as i trust the wonderful guyz here will help and guide you. Best regards.

Hnmm.... Business administration can fly smoothly with MSc Management. Banking and finance is a bit choosy... falling into the accounts and finance family. But since the specialisation is in Finance.... you will need to stress that clearly in your LoE..... Otherwise, choose MSc Management when you have done BSc Management!!!... Shikena. Pls check well.

Hi, so I got an agent and applied to Lambton college submitted my application without receipt of payment. Even though I have paid my fees now. Initially submitted because the payment went through late. My application was sent back with the two reasons for denial being purpose of visit, personal assets and financial status. Although I'm not sure my SOP was really convincing though but it was ok. I am 24yrs finished school 2012, served 2013 worked in my dads hotel for 3yrs now and submitted the necessary leave letters employment letters etc personal statement of my dad cause he is my sponsor also submitted cac documents too. I got an admission for a post graduate Certificate in Information Technology Professional for Lambton college. In my bsc I had a 2nd class upper in computer information systems. I want to reapply and I need to address the reasons for denial. Any ideas? Please. Comments, suggestions, reservations all welcome. Thanks.

Part 1 : congrats! We are same. I have no idea about when decisions will be made but I know most schools make fall decisions starting from February, and thus usually after application period.

Part 2: try and apply to two other schools, if you haven't.
Only your program coordinator or admin can answer the scholarship question. Your best answer will be from them. However, most programs automatically consider Masters admission application for scholarship as well, if it thesis-based.

A bit competitive ke? Bros, replace the "Bit" with "Very". They accept about 10% of applicants i.e. 20 out of 200, with international students having just about 4-5 spaces out of the twenty. Recent statistics also show that there are more international applicants than domestic. So, international applicants have acceptance rate of probably 5%.

Except your meet all admission requirement perfectly with very strong GPA (95-100%), fantastic Statement of research intent, and or you have publications. You may want to consider other schools down the hierarchical ladder - please, UofToronto is not included. However, Na humans dey go there too not angels. So, you and I too can. Lets just have alternative(s).

It will end with praises. Shalom!
