arinzeejikonye: You keep talking of capacity - do you know what capacity means? You might have the capacity to produce 100,000MW but end up producing only 1000MW of which only 400MW reaches the consumer. See the difference? 4 Likes |

Kenyanstar: Yea that sounds mysterious, You must understand that militancy is hydraheaded, multidimensional and perpetrated as a subtenarean subtaffuge, Even, the ioc, downstream mncs,n likes suffer from pipe line wreckage, vandalism etc,the issue is that, while at that there is contant repair and maintainance operation on those wrecked pipe, Another issue can be that that, the old national grid system, left many pipeline on-surface,hence govt is burrying them underneath for protection Another dimension,is that the locals felt cheated that the contract for surveillance of pipe line n oil assets was robbed off them by the present govt Another of it is that,it is the only means to make their voice heard, even as this issues sprang, while the present govt attempted to hault the amnesty programme Another dimension is that, during the military juntas in time past little or no allotment was given to the indegenes of niger delta in prospective oil licencing, extraction and production, which gave rise to marginalization, Another thing to it is the neglect, environmental degradation, oil spillage, loss of aquatic resources, poor water heigyene,n destruction of farms due to oil exploration, extraction n production Now there are calls for captive decentraliza5ion of production of alternative power source,in that, there is oil discoveries in the north, west and middle belt, apart from east n niger delta, hence, hydro dams, solar plants etc While the need for govt to run an all inclusive govt,on the pivot of fairness, equity, equality and forthrightness. There is the building of more refineries, both single line, modular, multitask etc ongoing, while also the rechanelling of pipe line, with more amphibious units of the army civil defence, navy ,airforce, mounting their surveillance and reconaissance on the national assets. Another dimension to this is that, there is the lucrative busting of pipe line as a means of theft for crude and profiteering via oil bunkering by exparts n locals, Another dimension is that the cabals of the downstream sector in tandem with iocs, vandaliae the oil facilities n pipes as a means of perpetual attraction of turn around maintainance -tam and repair projects to be awarded them by proxies of their companies. |

Source data includes Gallup World Poll, World Development Indicators, International Telecommunication Union, Fragile States Index, Worldwide Governance Indicators, Freedom House, World Health Organisation, World Values Survey, Amnesty International, Centre for Systemic Peace. The 104 variables are grouped into 9 sub-indexes, which are averaged using equal weights. arinzeejikonye: All this are excuses to cover mediocrity and failure..... failure to plan is planning to fail, period!!! The Nigerian system will take 100 years to reform since it seems Nigerians are readily available with excuses rather than solutions. Kenya had the Al-shabaab menace in terms terrorism and it really affected the Kenyan tourism sector and economic sense of it. We as Kenyans didn't start excusing the problem but faced it head on. Nigeria can not live on blaming the past and Onyimbo for even your future problems. Its either Nigerians accept that it has failed so that it can re-start its development agenda minus the excuses. 3 Likes |

In May,a Johns Hopkins prof. Steve Hanke published a stark warning on your REAL inflation rates. Official CBN figures were so off,the nigga even had to invent a totally new economic theory to explain Naij! This large discrepancy between the most recent official annual inflation rate of 12.77 percent and my implied inflation rate of 58.6 percent calls again for the use of a lie coefficient. The formula for utilizing this lie coefficient is as follows: (official data) × (lie coefficient) = real estimate. At present, the Central Bank of Nigeria’s lie coefficient is 4.6. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/steve-h-hanke/nigerias-growing-economic_b_10098926.html That was May,mind you. Thanks to an addiction to lies, myth, juju and outright BS no action was taken,as the CBN continued to live in cloud cuckoo land. Now the naira is in the same situation as the Venezuelan bolivar,Syrian and Egyptian currencies! Not even all Dangote's money can pull you out of this pit latrine. An addiction to easy oil money and importation of everything has put too much pressure on the naira. While you laugh at our milk biz you spend over 6 bn $ importing milk powder and basic commodities! Btw,prof. Hanke has advised presidents and prime ministers on monetary policy. teve H. Hanke is a professor of applied economics and co-director of the Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health, and the Study of Business Enterprise at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He is a senior fellow and director of the Troubled Currencies Project at the Cato Institute, a senior adviser at the Renmin University of China’s International Monetary Research Institute in Beijing, a special counselor to the Center for Financial Stability in New York, and a contributing editor at Globe Asia Magazine and at Central Banking in London. Hanke is also a member of the Charter Council of the Society of Economic Measurement and of Euromoney Country Risk’s Experts Panel. https://www.cato.org/people/steve-hanke This guy knows his ish!!
