You are very correct. It took a lot of prayers and serious networking before someone close to me was converted. That's after so many years of working as a contract staff. I won't advise anyone to go for bank contract job if there's a full staff position elsewhere even if the full staff position pays slightly lower. holusbaba: |

He should move closer to areas close to the Island. Areas like Oworonsoki, Ifako-Gbagada or Surulere. He should be able to get an affordable self-contained apartment in those areas. That way, he spends less on t-fare and does not spend long hours in traffic. He willl begin to enjoy his Lagos job once he does that., calabaman: 1 Like |

Let your guy go for the contract. As a regional IT support I don't think he will depend on his salary only. Some contracts' positions in some organisations are far better than full-time positions in many organisation. If he thinks the cost of moving house will not outweigh the financial benefits in the new organization, let him stay put. Also if there is prospect of career growth in his current employer, he should stay put. |

calabaman: my dear forget the title. a contract staff has no chance of carrier development and can not be treated fairly. note that there are a lot of job opportunities in lagos compare to akwa ibom. I would suggest he continue with his present job until he sees a better job but definitely not a contract job |
Re: N95k Contract Bank Job in Akwa Ibom Or N85k Full Staff Job In Lagos? by bellville: 11:20am On Dec 19, 2016 |
bank contract job has no prospect. If he were my own friend or brother, I would not advise him to take up the contract job. Let him stick to his Lagos job, relocate to any of those areas I have mentioned and have a positive view of his current job. He should face his challenges, learn on the job and start applying elsewhere. It's easy to get a full staff position elsewhere when you already hold a full time position. The word "outsourced staff", "contract staff" dents your cv. calabaman: 1 Like |

Re: N95k Contract Bank Job in Akwa Ibom Or N85k Full Staff Job In Lagos? by badrobot77: 11:33am On Dec 19, 2016 |
OP, your best choice is to stick with Lagos because you have many opportunities in Lagos, a job in Akwa Ibom means you cant change jobs easily. So salary wise moving for N10k makes no difference if you consider inflation and UYO is not cheap but good to live in , but a contract job in recession is a time bomb.Stay in Lagos and keep looking. 1 Like |

TINALETC3:Cost of living you mean right Because standard of living is relative to the individual. All the same, I agree with you, how can one spend 1000 naira on public transport fare a day or spend 200,000 naira on self contain per year! Little wonder folks that earn fairly good pay of 100k a month in Lagos find it difficult saving a reasonable amount. |
