Bro, Hausa is to the north what pidgin is to the south. The only language that cuts across is English and whatever obtains in the north in this English applies to the south. U don't need to be in the classroom to understand pidgin in the south and same applies to Hausa in the north.
And the question is what type of English cuts across cos I don't understand what you are defending

Blame their governors who have deprived them of every right to social amenities

Don't be decisive any person speaking pidgin can understand English.
Am from south south, served at Benue state then. The north is zero when it comes to education!

I have come across corpers from the south who cannot piece up few words to make a simple correct sentence. It will interest u to know that majority of nlders are from the south and if their level of education is anything to go by, hmm. There was a corp member then at my orientation camp who was busy telling one of the soldiers "oga I want go sh_it". And that is the only way she could express herself. When she wanted to correct herself, she said " oga I want to go and sh_it", can u imagine? And that same 'graduate' will be somewhere saying the north is educationally backward. Abeg I no fit laff jawe.

The English that cuts across is what is referred to as 'Queen English'. The type spoken by the English in England. The American English is also acceptable, not pidgin. Pidgin is not a measure of literacy because illiterate market women and farmers who never had any form of formal education speak it fluently. Same applies to Hausa in the north.

Not really bro, rather it is u fooling urself by concluding that pidgin is the language used for business. Yes, the way u use pidgin for ur business in ur South is the same way we use Hausa for our informal business transactions in the North.
Queen English is hardly spoken without error but not for the illiterate farmers or market women cos they can't even speak faulty English.
Just imagine ur written English, and this one might be carrying one certificate parading himself as a graduate.

They are breeding another set of boko haram in the north west. Very soon the whole of Nigeria will pay for it.

Am ashamed that am in d same country with Hausas. I suffered in north for common bike man to carry me to my destination he will take me round d whole town because he cant even understand drop me for park.

U northerners are too backward. Even the Hausa teachers cannot speak good english talk less of d students.

For our Bible we memorize only in sunday schools unlike ur people dat spend from 2pm to 8pm memorizing koran everyday. And at d end of d day they still do all sorts of evil
Western education is not for northerners. NYSC should stop punishing us

Typical southerner arrogant beyond measure yet completely ignorant about life. You think you are better than northerners yet whenever we meet in school, we always beat your crappy ass. What do you know about the north someone who has been to only a single state suddenly becomes and expert about how things are in the north. You are minuscule speck in a far bigger world, what have you achieved in your life that has made you so arrogant

I was also totally sad and surprised when I saw it in gombe in 1998.

But recently I realized that even you can see this kind of backwardness in south west as well.

Bro, ur English is disgusting and to think u are even arguing about English speaking is quite amusing. Go and learn the language first because u are not even qualified to distinguish between who speaks it well or otherwise.

Practically, nothing. The only thing he has achieved is pointing fingers at who he thinks is uneducated while he swims in an ocean of total and very dark ignorance.
Annoyingly, most of them are defeated whenever there is any intellectual argument between them and the northerners and their only way out is resorting to insult.
Just take a look at most of their responses so far.

Meanwhile, don't mistake pidgin for English. Pidgin is predominantly spoken in the East and as far as I'm concerned, it is vernacular just the way Hausa language is.
Which pidgin English for East if you say south south

Thats the point, if the south spoke pigin, then its better if i hv served in the south ,i could have easily impacted knowledge using English, blc pigin is an adulterated form of english, so if they understood pigin, then English is not a problem.

Some of my colleagues (graduates) are from the East and I will tell u most of them speak rubbish in the name of English. Give them a simple task that involves writing, hmm, u will end up doing the job urself and since it is a govt parastatal where productivity is of no use, they remain. I have come across a graduate of English who doesn't know the difference between 'later' and 'latter'. Unbelievable but true.

Don't think it's right 2 disclose ur identity on a forum like this ( ur full identity 4 dat matter).
1st, it doesn't add 2 d info u're passing, yet it's a security risk 2 u.
Also ur state code is ur personal identity, more like ur matric No, buh even more as it can be compared 2 ur password (or pin) in some instances.
If u want pipu 2 help dem u cudav dropped contact details (phone No 4 example) instead of ur state code.
All I can see here is overzealous display.
Remember, wisdom is principal in all things.

And my point is 'pidgin is to the South what Hausa is to the North'. It is not learnt in the classroom and as such never a basis for differentiating levels of literacy. Meanwhile, with this ur English, how did u graduate from the university/poly? Just asking.

I still repeat not in the east. Those who attend schools among them go there to learn. you can't rule out some few dull ones through. Is like me telling you those in Ibadan can not speak good English simply because in my secondary school than, we were still being taught what is pronoun in SS3
