They should charge the suspect for attempted murder, make sure they escorts him to kirikiri then lock him up and collect the key.

Though commendable, this is junk journalism. why not show us the packaging of the plastic rice and what the grains look like so the public could be wary of buying it in the market.
Yes the rice could be re-bagged but the public would be more cautious already

And some people decided to import this? I think they deserve to be jailed and fed with their plastic rice.

There is nothing like plastic rice. Nigerians are too lazy intellectually to engage in serious critical thinking due to damage caused by
both poor education system and religion. What you see in the video from China is noodle formed like rice. Another one is granular plastic for industrial use, nothing to do with food.
If you sell plastic for rice in China, it is death sentence. Again, if you boil plastic from morning till night, it will never become soft to chew... so who will buy it? Don't believe these illiterate government officials, the custom people are lying. How many of you have seen this so called plastic rice except posts on those blog sites and rumors. To understand this issue better, read international respected news including people's response, for you to understand this issue. Don't rely on Nairaland, Linda Ikeji or Punch.....they don't have what it takes to investigate anything.

RoyalMail:
The Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja, of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 102 bags of plastic rice branded “Beat Tomato Rice’’ with no date of manufacture.

The Customs Area Controller of F.O.U. Comptroller Mohammed Haruna, made the disclosure in an interview with our correspondent.

He said that the commodity was stored for distribution as Yuletide gifts for the public.
Haruna said that officers of the unit intercepted the plastic rice along Ikeja area on Monday, adding that a suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure.

“Before now, I thought it was a rumour that the plastic rice is all over the country but with this seizure, I have been totally convinced that such rice exists.

“We have done the preliminary analysis on the plastic rice. After boiling, it was sticky and only God knows what would have happened if people consumed it.

“I advise those economic saboteurs who see yuletide season as a peak period for nefarious acts to desist from such illegal business.

“The unit has decided other operational modalities that will make them run for their monies and count their losses, ‘’ NAN quotes the controller as saying.

He described smuggling as a global phenomenon, adding that such act could not be curbed entirely but could be brought to its barest minimum.

Haruna appreciated well-meaning Nigerians who provided the service with prompt information that led to the discovery of the bags of plastic rice.

The controller, however, advised the media to educate the public on the existence of plastic food, adding that it was no longer a rumour.

Haruna assured the public that the distribution point of the particular plastic rice seized by the unit had been blocked with immediate effect.

He said that investigation was still ongoing.

The controller said the unit would handover the plastic rice to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for proper investigation.

if u could find out u would know its only the greedy Igbo's would do this, before it was cosmetics and now food, this is why I hate igbos, when a quality goods gets into the market today, just about few time u would always find the fake ones out,u would need to face a tough task to find the original, later someone would start praising them as a good business entrepreneur, these people don't care about human lives when money is involved, they re the most devilish tribe Nigeria ever had. I hates them with passion except for the God fearing ones among them
