I'm not sure any inference can be drawn from that. One year is too long in football.
Smalling went from Chris to Mike in less than 3 months.
The guy doesn't have to be the finished article, if the potential is right then it's good we take the punt. We can't afford to be like Wenger now who was the "first to identify" every classy young talent in the world, yet groomed the Sanogos of this world.

Whilst it's true that he was poor in that game. He played that game with injury and since refused to play injured thats why he's been out of the team. He's a good player though and if he went to another big club I can see him doing well there. Admittedly he's not a defensive leader.

It doesn't look like this Victor Lindelof has pace. But Vidic didn't have pace. Ramos too doesn't have pace.
