“He [Zlatan Ibrahimovic] is a top player and we can’t help but learn from just being alongside him, playing and training with him, seeing what he is doing now and what he has done in the past. “In spite of his age, he has been a tremendous help to our side; he is doing loads for us. Let’s hope his form can continue because that is going to help us to climb the table, which is our goal. “We have a lot of experience in the squad and, together, we have to show what we can do to progress. “We are a few points behind the top four at the moment, which we have got to make up, but it is down to us to maintain our good form and turn it into even more victories. “We have to take each game as it comes but if we can continue playing the way we are and add a few more goals, then who knows what we can achieve in terms of trophies this season.” - Anthony Martial |

chrisley024:They are both shiit, well maybe not so shiit but will be brainless investments. If we must spend money then let's SPEND money going for the finished best article or next best only mixed with youth having the right potential. We can decide to be prudent when we start appearing consistently in UCL semis & finals again. |

LOANS WATCH Adnan Januzaj He went to Sunderland during the summer transfer window looking to make a point after failing in his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund last term. Some had expected the Kosovan-Belgian attacker to join Paddy McNair and Donald Love in making a permanent move to Wearside but United are intent on not repeating the costly error of allowing Paul Pogba to leave too early. Januzaj’s form has not been of 2013-14 level, with his longest run in the side coinciding with the Black Cats’ bad start to the campaign. However, since recently returning from injury, his performances have improved and David Moyes’ side are beginning to finally look like putting up a decent fight against relegation with Januzaj a key figure. Guillermo Varela Moyes’ first signing at United, Guillermo Varela finally broke into the first team during an injury crisis in 2015-16 under Louis van Gaal. However, his season-long loan to Frankfurt has been been hit by an injury of his own. In only his third game in Germany, Varela damaged ankle ligaments in the opening moments of a clash with Darmstadt and has yet to appear since. He is expected back in the New Year and having been first choice at the start of the campaign he will be hoping to step back into the starting XI when he is back to full fitness. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson He was sent on loan to League Two side Grimsby in the summer having played nine games in the sixth-tier National League North during a temporary switch to Stockport County in early 2016. Henderson has yet to make it onto the field for the Mariners, with 13 substitute assignments to his name thus far, but the experience of working in a professional first-team environment day by day will doubtless prove fruitful later on. Cameron Borthwick-Jackson He was one of the good-news stories of United’s 2015-16 campaign, with only the emergence of Marcus Rashford usurping the full-back’s rise to prominence. Making 14 appearances in total, the young left-footer exceeded all expectations after being promoted to the first team due to a smattering of injuries. His switch to Championship side Wolves in the summer was meant to provide him with further senior experience, but Walter Zenga’s sacking after just 87 days in charge has thrown a huge stumbling block in his path. New boss Paul Lambert has insisted on packing his side with older heads where possible in the bid to steer clear of relegation trouble, and as a result, Borthwick-Jackson has not played since the former Aston Villa boss arrived. An early recall clause does exist in the deal, meaning United could well bring Borthwick-Jackson back to Old Trafford in January with one eye on a reassignment elsewhere on loan. Andreas Perreira With just nine points to their name and an early elimination from the Copa del Rey having been suffered in midweek, Granada cannot claim 2016-17 to have been a good season so far. However, Andreas Pereira is one man who has provided a positive light amid their struggles. The attacker has been a regular in the Nazaries’ first XI whether as a winger or a central attacking midfielder, and he scored his first goal for the club in their sole La Liga victory to date: a 2-1 success over high-flying Sevilla in early December. His trademark lively forward play has failed to get Granada going, but United will be hoping the experience of a relegation battle will help Pereira to mature quickly. Joel Pereira After playing eight games in goal for Rochdale during a loan spell last season, Joel Pereira returned to Old Trafford to play a part in the United under-21 side’s Premier League title success in April. This term he has headed to the Portuguese Primeira Liga to play for Belenenses and since breaking into the team in October he has been the first-choice keeper. Despite having the joint-worst attack in the league, Belenenses sit in mid-table and much of that is to do with their impressive defensive record. And Pereira has begun to earn notable plaudits for his role in the solid back line. James Wilson After being promoted to the United first team by caretaker manager Ryan Giggs in 2014, many will have been expecting a much greater return from James Wilson than he has so far managed. A loan spell with Brighton last term brought 27 appearances but only 12 starts and five goals, but this season’s assignment with Derby was curtailed by a serious ACL injury in October which saw him return to Carrington to undergo a rehabilitation programme which will keep him out for the rest of the campaign. |
