Don't worry mikko just take a deep breath and re-fire . This time around you are re-applying just add prayers! And tell no one till you get your visa!
Finally this shows that Canada visa is just by luck and by the grace of God.
Because you have more than convinced the VO with sufficient documents! I guess the VO that reviewed your documents was not in a good mood sad

Mikymiko,

I'm absolutely gutted at your 2nd refusal. You seem to have everything nailed down.

But based on these: "Insufficient fund to pay for tuition and purpose of visit. Other reason are: Based on academic history and study plan, I am not satisfied that applicant is a bonafide student.", it's only logical that you request for your GCMS asap.

I'll advise that your sponsor should deposit money in your account too, how best can he show commitment to your cause?

I think maybe the quota issue affected you. Why was academic history and study plan not raised in the 1st application? In any case you will need to use your LOE to rectify that.

Synopsis:
1. Get your GCMS asap
2. Discuss the possibility of your sponsor depositing money in your account
PS. This would simplify your app too. The Switzerland docs would not need to be included.
3. Academic history and study plan would be tackled in your LOE

Hello Everyone,
I have been a silent observer here since June, 2016 when my first visa application was 12weeks and counting. I was eventually refused august 19th (applied since march) reasons were level of education and current employment status , like others that applied for a PGD program. It was frustrating and exhausting. At first I didn't want to reapply because I didn't know where to start from and how to convince the visa officers. My best option will be going for a masters degree, but at the level of my career that's not what I want at the moment. So I contacted my school is Canada and they requested for the CAIPS note. It came back after 28days and their reasons were with my level of education ( BnSC Nursing) and the fact that I'm currently employed they don't see any reason I should be going for a post graduate diploma programme so therefore they don't think I'm a genuine student that would return after studies. When I got this all hope was lost. Getting a master degree was the only way out I said to myself. Then school offered to be my agent if I want to reapply and gave some tips like stressing how getting further degree is not what's next in my career, how international exposure in clinical and medical field will help get a more satisfying job in Nigeria. I took my time and composed another letter of explanation( my first letter of explanation wasn't well detailed) . I poured my heart out and explained my short and long term goals and how the diploma program will really help to achieve them. I was encouraged by friends and family to give it one more trial. I summoned all the courage, picked myself up and gave it my all one more time. I got letter of introduction and study leave permit from where I'm working and most importantly I basically committed everything into God's hand because it's a miracle I really needed. I worked on my faith and I did an upfront medicals( wasn't called for medicals in my first application)
I got bank statement( my dad is the sponsor) and sponsor's letter.
On October 28th I submitted through paper route and I prayed and hoped for a miracle. I set my mind on 2months for a miracle to happen.
To the glory of God the miracle worker I tracked my application on the 1st of December and I saw your passport has been dispatched from accra to VFS on 30/11/2016. I didn't believe it at first, I had to collect a colleagues phone to check again and I saw the same thing. I was scared, at the same time thanking God for fast response. I didn't know what the decision was but I just held on to my faith that it has been approved.
I haven't collected my package from lagos as I type this. But I know God that has started this good thing will finish it.
I'm typing this long story to encourage someone, we can always give it one more trial, search within your heart and ask yourself is this what is really next for me? Can I go ahead with another program? Does my choice tally with previous education background ? For me the diploma program is what I really needed now and opting for another degree won't really matter without the level of experience I want to acquire first. It's really important to compose a letter of explanation to explain why you are going for the program and how it wil help your career in Nigeria.
Then take it to the Lord in prayers, let him take control and direct your path. The waiting period is not easy. I decided not to check Naira land or any other forum people discuss their visa ordeals because as much as it helps to gather information it also increases my anxiety level. ( don't get it wrong, I got very good informations here that helped when I was reapplying)
All thanks be to God. I got my package today and it has been approved within the space of a month. I do serve a living God.
I hope I have encouraged someone to hold on to their goals/ dreams no matter how many times they have been disappointed or let down. The God that has done mine can do yours too.
If you don't think this is a miracle I don't know how else to convince you.
Do your part, pray and give it all to God.
I wish all the people waiting on their TRV a swift and positive response. You too will share your testimony by the grace of God

Just got refused on insufficient fund to pay for tuition and purpose of visit.
Sorry for that, I think you should do the following:
1.Order for your file
2.submit back same documents but review your SOP and tie your undergrad to this masters, if possible include the core part of your statement of intent which you submitted to the faculty and indicate that was your statement that was considered for admission in your SOP to embassy.
3. You need to prove the usefulness of this course somehow to your career pursuit, if you can include various job adverts and if you have undertaken any projects even if volunteer. As long as you have even if one year experience on a role, your undergrad can be in any course but I feel any VO would approve your masters in a field you have career progression in.
4. On your fees and available funds; fees=actual tuition, rooms and board make it 10,000, others make it from 6000, I also think your available fund is low(let someone pls comment on the amount you declared) | If you can please ask your sponsor to transfer N5M to your account.| where your sponsor isnt direct family there must be an evidence of real commitment like transfer and not just affidavit(my opinion).
Its not easy to think straight at this time but try to look at this case objectively. Try not to attack the VO reading your new SOP but try making it look like you unknowingly didnt supply all the explanation in first application.
Please take any review seasoned members of this group will do on my submission.
Wish you success

N/B: I think this forum has to exhaust a discussion on how to feel that column for funds on application form, because I feel when not properly filled would certainly give insufficient fund even if your account is huge.

it is always painful when a GURU who selflessly assist others to successfully get their TRVs and it turns out this way. just few days back i just only log on to this thread in search of your fruitful testimony as i told you on chat last week that your response from CIC wldn't exceed this week friday. @mikymiko from experience i may not say THE PURPOSE OF VISIT was as a result of your program.NO.. purpose of visit has accomplices of which Insufficient funds is also 1 of them. if your course was not related to you UG,your intended school in canada wouldn't have given you admission in that field for Masters onlike PGD(C) that gives admission in almost any field.i feel YOUR STUDY PLAN a.k.a SOP must have passed a wrong signal to the VO to question purpose of visit too. but if you are skeptical, apply for ur GCMS NOTE before reapplying especially in this re-occuring issue of FUNDS..
you are the last person i look up to here this year to hear his success story.. I hang up my ''guru'' boot for this thread as i am happy i have touched lives and my part of contributions made success stories.with this sad story of @mikymiko,i make a painful exit.......

I saw same list of least developed countries for app fee waiver at UBC, yet I read that app fee was waived for Nigeria at UBC.
yes, It is so with UBC because Nigerians complained of 100USD limit for transaction a day.

UAlberta is different, because 100CAD<100USD

A VO will want to ... (1) See that an applicant is able and can well support his/her first year of study tuition and living costs without recourse to public funds...... by showing proof of funding for just that tuition as specified "first year tuition" in your offer letter + 10,000CAD..... (That is the cic regulation)
** available funds is the total of your bank balances, fixed investment, and that part a sponsor pledges to give per annum.

(2) That applicant possesses such ability as being able to continuously support tuition and living costs in preceding years...
*** by means of e.g. rent payment on property, pension statements, fixed deposits, affidavit of sponsorships.

I got to Canada yesterday with Air Maroc. Their price is relatively cheap, not an excellent serivice on board but can be considered ok. We landed like 8pm and the view from air was perfect. I have already started my registration and getting my affairs in order. For those of us who are still in the process, I say unto you: please do not give up on this dream. It worths every penny, anxiety, heart ache and time. When you get here, you will understand what I mean.

P.S: mikymiko, sorry to hear your story. Take it as a challenge and face it squarely. Let the FAVOUR of the Lord be upon you all and let your Canadian dreams be fulfilled.

Still battling jetlag. It defeated me last night but I will fight this night grin grin grin grin grin.

Good to hear that you landed safely, please what did you encounter at the port of entry. What are the questions asked?

Also does exiting the thread in anyway the solution to the refusal ?

What happens when someone have thesis scholarship covering fees and upkeep, same account rules still apply?

Am gathering info on typical minimum balance people don use. Especially if it is scholarship and personal or direct family account alone.
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 11 by judlice84: 5:11pm On Dec 22, 2016
The truth is I had more problem with Nigerian immigrations in Lagos. Anyways to your question, I was asked my purpose in Canada, how much money I have with me, and to explain the food stuffs I carried because I declared them. That was it.

These are the general rules... each applicant will apply as appropriate.
Learn that "for every general rule, there's always an exception".

Please help me out here with this example as that's what I like for someone to be clear on.
An applicant has 16000CAD equivalent in his account, father second sponsor has an account of 100,000,000 last six months flow and balance of 30,000,000 Naira pledges 5,000,000 per annum=21,000CAD and 42000cad for two years.what will be his available fund? will it be safe to say 58,000CAD?
I am trying to understudy a pattern for each application I have read insufficient fund whether there is a relationship to how those columns were filled and majority of those always have filled rooms and board less than 10,000 and others low too.
Please when you clear the above I want everyone who has gotten trv to include in the documents submitted, tell this house what you filled in tuition, rooms and board, others and available funds columns.
Will appreciate that

Indeed my prayers are for you.....

I haven't really had the time to respond/react to people's post lately. Been quite busy, buh when I sighted your post I was very curious. I wasn't expecting a refusal in ur app. You seem to be vast in the Canadian Study permit. You're quite helpful and intuitive.

Here's the sharp problem with ur application for study permit.

Rural development is only remotely related to political science. And all the degrees and certificate you have listed above only screams political science and nothing more. To be candid you haven't made any step at all in pursuing a masters degree in rural development other than the fact that you secured admission for the program.

A masters degree in Rural Development is a degree program that focuses on identifying methods required to turn rural regions into agriculturally productive areas, and to improve health and nutrition of the communities in these rural areas. It is a field of study that uses principles of both economy and geography. Granted the program is an interdisciplinary program that draws on diverse insight from several fields such as geography, political science, business administration and other disciplines. Buh u need to understand that this program is not a direct offshoot of political science and as such you need to go further to establish what steps you have taken so far upon conclusion of degree. E.g certificate of participation in workshops, symposium, forums etc.

Your work background does not show you're grounded in the field of Rural development. How does an analyst correlate to rural development. Did you identify specific transferable skills in ur sop that relates directly to your proposed program.

All the certificate you've obtained so far....only shows that you're advancing your career in political science and not rural development. You needn't have added those certificates especially the one obtained @ the Institute of Federalism.

How do you intend to make a lucrative career out of this program?

What are your career prospects, goals, vision, objectives in tandem with the proposed program?

Why didnt you attempt to pursue this program in Nigeria?

Study gap ?

How did tackle the above questions in your sop?

Now you mentioned email correspondence with the director of the program. What was the subject matter of the correspondence? Is it just that he confirmed that you should start your program in January 2017 If so...I doubt if that would be helpful at all. Your correspondence with any faculty member that you intend to submit as part of ur visa application should be centred on your preparation for the program more like research specifics or your research interests discussed with your potential supervisor. This will establish your bona fide intention to study.

I think moniker @bamz has sufficiently tackle the insufficient funds part.

In your next application....ensure to submit certificates showing efforts and steps taken to ensure preparation for your proposed program.

I'd love to see your sop anyway.

Bro sorry for the refusal. It's only a temporary setback.

Bro, i was particularly looking out for your testimony till i saw this. Well, this will just be a stepping stone to greater things to come concerning your study in canada plans. Don't let this weigh u down too much and ponder over what went wrong or not, the news is devastating in itself already. I doubt you can really put thoughts together.
Pick up from where it stopped for now, get ur GCMS file, pay close attention to what they pointed out, try to see how u can do things differently without complicating your application further cos i know you are vast in ideas concerning the processes. When you are ready again to start,i'm sure alot of people will be willing to assist you as you've been really helpful here too.Trust me, when ur approval mail drops for the next application, you would have long forgotten it was the 3rd. In as much as people are sympatizing with u, consider getting to work on a better strategy as soon as u can, You will definitely win at the end!
Big up bro, You will still achieve all you set out to as long as you stay resilient and look at the bigger picture you have. All the best in your next application.

Congrats on your TRV. I would say that the advice you were given was valid for most people, you just happen to be a good exception. Your TRV approval once again demonstrates that while there are general guidelines, VOs make exceptions in certain cases depending on the applicant's ability to convince him/her (or depending on the VO's mood). Every application is different.

Also keep in mind that the VO might have viewed your app positively for other reasons, e.g. you went to school in the UK and came back to Naija, you wrote an extremely convincing SOP, you have enough financial/professional/family ties to Naija, etc.

Another candidate a year ago was also approved with a similar profile as you, check out her profile summary here, she too was going for a PGC after a Masters in the UK; she is also going to the same school as you are. Cheers.
