Whether or not Lagos is equivalent to Osun state without immigrants is irrelevant because the reality of today is that it is not equivalent to OSun. All that is story. The reality is no where in the east can come close to Lagos and if it is your money that has developed Lagos, then you should be ashamed that your area is in the state it is, instead of beating chest.
Nowhere in the east was once made capital of Nigeria, Seaports in the South South are being closed so to make lagos state the only entry point..
Lagos was once the Capital of Nigeria. Most of its infrastructural development was when it was still the Capital of Nigeria.
The only thing the state govt does is to renovate them.

Its like comparing Abuja to other Northern States.

In 5 years time anambra will dwarf lagos in all levels of development

what have Anambra put in place to catch up, nay surpass Lagos in 5yrs time. What are the indices and parameters that suggest that.

Mind you, this is not a SE thread where maybe you feel in your usual local champion attitude, you can brag to people of Ebonyi, Imo, Abia etc and they will clap for you. Point out what Annambra has over Lagos that will be maximised in 5yrs time to surpass Lagos.

Lagos was developed with federal money like Abuja, it was once nigerian capital city. so no state can match her in terms of development, this is not what we should be dragging..

To dwarf lagos, you need at least one of 2 of 3 things if not All.

1.) High traffic port
2,) large population base including middle income earners, nit just farmers and Okada riders who can't buy anything or contribute anything to IGR
3) industries

anything short of that is a pipe dream

I don't know your age or academic background but whatever they are, you sound too gullible and childish with your comment (no pun intended).

If you ever believe all the MOUs that your baby technocrat, Obiano, has been signing is anything near the 20 year plan that is making investments and FDI trickling into Lagos State, there is a big problem.

The Seaports in Lagos only can buy the whole Anambra.

Almost all the Head Offices of Nigeria's banks are in Lagos.

Almost all the Head Offices of Oil and Gas Upstream and Down Streams are in Lagos.

More than 50% of Nigerian banking activities and insurance activities take place in Lagos only.

I don't know where you want to start from but it seems impossible.

Just tell your governor to 'run things' with Ondo State because even Ogun State is ahead of Anambra in many indices of growth and development.
The only thing I can say to you is that I hope you are not replying me from your parents house
oh you are
Reply me when you leave your parents house and start fending for yourself

Am I arguing with you? Lagos is what it is deal with it. Your place is what it is deal with it. It's like complaining or boasting that every hospital you go in America or Uk is full Nigerian doctors and that without them they will struggle. That may be true but

1) why are they there and not in Nigeria? what chased them away from Nigeria?
2) How does boasting that our Doctors are the ones doing great things abroad help the medical situation back home?

Stop the chest beating and face the real issues.

If Anambra government can make the state attractive and welcoming to university graduates in terms of making policies that will encourage investors to build companies and therefore employ people, Anambrarians, most especially the graduates would stay more at home and will top Lagos in just a matter of years. lagos isn't that much ahead of Anambra.
No state can ever pass Lagos in the country just like none can pass California in the USA. A liberal state to the core will forever be ahead of bigoted states anywhere.

Any where FG put money like Lagos state will compete with it. The cost of third mainland bridge alone is more than
every penny the FG has invested in Ekiti, Osun, Ebonyi and Imo put together.

FG built 2 airports, 3 seaports, Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA, Victoria Island, flyovers, schools, hospitals, all embassies, many estates, stadiums, all govt agency HQs, all ministry HQs, thousands of kilometers of roads, hotels, national theater etc. Any state with a quarter of such investment will compete easily with lagos.

Point of correction, FG didn't not build Ikeja GRA, all embassies, many estate, all stadiums, all roads, all government agencies, all hotels etc they were either built by the Western region government, individuals and foreigners.

Wishful thinking.

Its what you're doing today that determines where you'll be in the future.

I don't see anything spectacular going on to effect your wish in the future.

Maybe when you all become less tribalistic and welcome people regardless of their religion and tribe, then you'll finally attract the goodwill you hope for.

Abuja has been Nigeria's Capital for more than 25 years now (actively) yet it is far from being close to Lagos.

Lagos is endowed.

Human and Natural resources.

There is sea. There is ocean with aquatic beings.

Many things that money cannot buy.

Lagos is blessed.

There is no point to argue. Lagos is Nigeria's and Indeed Africa's big Apple. No other state has the right set of opportunities to place itself ahead of Lagos. A few may just try.
There cannot be a massive migration of people to any Eastern state due to tribal restrictions. That won't give you the level ground to succeed.
There are no seaports. We don't have to analyse how this attract a lot of investment inflows and all
There is no basis for such decision. There is already an administrative and commercial capital. No investor will rather want to gamble with his money. Even Dangote had to site his refinery in Lagos for obvious reasons.

Lagos island,Ikoyi and Victoria island were developed by the British, while mainland particularly the Ikeja industrial zone and and other zones were controlled by western region . Go read history before you comment .

The money FG has spent shoring up V.I from the ocean is more than enough to start a new state. If FG hands FCT to Niger state today, they cannot claim to have built it. Lagos was built by the federal government, not tinubu or fashola's skill.

Lagos was fortunate to be One time capital of Nigeria.
With its location, its population mainly non indigenes.

Lagos is a no mans land. Its wealth is mainly from its commercial activities(thanks to non indigenes) and taxes.

Lagos state gat no natural resource.

You can't compare Lagos with other states which are just developing
Explain how and why Lagos never prospered when it was capital. Explain why Abuja that has been capital for 25 years is not prospering.
This Is nothing to do with Capital and everything to do with Good government

You make a good point but healthy internal competition is a good thing.

Nigeria needs multiple hubs of economic activity - to take the strain away from Lagos but also to spread development and push back against some the stupid behaviors that are endemic in places like the North or the rural areas all over the country.
