vodutive:Nowhere in the east was once made capital of Nigeria, Seaports in the South South are being closed so to make lagos state the only entry point.. Lagos was once the Capital of Nigeria. Most of its infrastructural development was when it was still the Capital of Nigeria. The only thing the state govt does is to renovate them. Its like comparing Abuja to other Northern States. In terms of IGR give thanks to the Non indigenes 1 Like |

PentiiumProf: what have Anambra put in place to catch up, nay surpass Lagos in 5yrs time. What are the indices and parameters that suggest that. Mind you, this is not a SE thread where maybe you feel in your usual local champion attitude, you can brag to people of Ebonyi, Imo, Abia etc and they will clap for you. Point out what Annambra has over Lagos that will be maximised in 5yrs time to surpass Lagos. 13 Likes |

Lagos was developed with federal money like Abuja, it was once nigerian capital city. so no state can match her in terms of development, this is not what we should be dragging.. 2 Likes |

To dwarf lagos, you need at least one of 2 of 3 things if not All. 1.) High traffic port 2,) large population base including middle income earners, nit just farmers and Okada riders who can't buy anything or contribute anything to IGR 3) industries anything short of that is a pipe dream 4 Likes |

Cubeet: Am I arguing with you? Lagos is what it is deal with it. Your place is what it is deal with it. It's like complaining or boasting that every hospital you go in America or Uk is full Nigerian doctors and that without them they will struggle. That may be true but 1) why are they there and not in Nigeria? what chased them away from Nigeria? 2) How does boasting that our Doctors are the ones doing great things abroad help the medical situation back home? Stop the chest beating and face the real issues. 15 Likes 1 Share |

PentiiumProf:Wishful thinking. Its what you're doing today that determines where you'll be in the future. I don't see anything spectacular going on to effect your wish in the future. Maybe when you all become less tribalistic and welcome people regardless of their religion and tribe, then you'll finally attract the goodwill you hope for. 5 Likes |

Cubeet: Abuja has been Nigeria's Capital for more than 25 years now (actively) yet it is far from being close to Lagos. Lagos is endowed. Human and Natural resources. There is sea. There is ocean with aquatic beings. Many things that money cannot buy. Lagos is blessed. 11 Likes 1 Share |

There is no point to argue. Lagos is Nigeria's and Indeed Africa's big Apple. No other state has the right set of opportunities to place itself ahead of Lagos. A few may just try. There cannot be a massive migration of people to any Eastern state due to tribal restrictions. That won't give you the level ground to succeed. There are no seaports. We don't have to analyse how this attract a lot of investment inflows and all There is no basis for such decision. There is already an administrative and commercial capital. No investor will rather want to gamble with his money. Even Dangote had to site his refinery in Lagos for obvious reasons. 15 Likes |

Horlufemi: You make a good point but healthy internal competition is a good thing. Nigeria needs multiple hubs of economic activity - to take the strain away from Lagos but also to spread development and push back against some the stupid behaviors that are endemic in places like the North or the rural areas all over the country. |
