Phi001: No, but you must also take the last course and earn a ZERO=F for the course to be used to divide your GPA. We have all seen instances where people in the same class did different number of courses...Some did 7, some did 8 and some did 9..If you divide the GPA of someone that did 7 by 8 or 8 by nine, you would be assuming they did the additional course and failed, and that is wrong. There is definitely an issue with what IFE has done. I cannot see why there is no issue. They have assumed the girl took the 8th subject and failed and hence they divided by 8. That is wrong! If anything, the computation should be based on 5 relevant subjects because this is what I suppose JAMB explicitly has in its brochure... 1 Like |

thinkative: I have been around my friend though i don't expect you to take my word for this, the examples you gave do not invalidate my statistics. Yes i said ife was an institution affected by tribalism but i also said it was less so compared to majority of the schools around Nigeria and i used uniben as a gold standard of some sort not because it is totally detribalised or because i studied there but because in comparism to other schools i've been to, uniben and unilag are the most diverse ethnically, unilag for obvious reasons, uniben for the fact that their merit list remains untainted by any other consideration to the best of my knowledge (I can still be proven wrong of course). In my time i applied to ife and uniben in different years and gained admission into different courses in both, i turned down a couple of admissions in my time because maybe i was a bit conceited and arrogant believing i was very brilliant and admissions came to me easier than other people or because i was kind of pampered and sheltered with my parents more invested in me going to school than i was but point is, during the admissions search i got around and though uniben was never my choice, i was basically bribed/coerced to take up that admission and i look back at my wasted years with regrets i also got to learn about many back doors to gaining admission into Nigerian universities and i'm saying point blank that there's tribalism in ife's admission, at least there was back then |

Phi001: So IFE also assumed she made an F in the last subject and hence they used it to compute her O'level GPA? No? See my above post to Phi001. The admission process has lots of weaknesses and loopholes and I say this with all due respect to the respectable people in charge |

Re: Provost Of Health Sciences Oau Gives Reasons Why Mrs Aror Wasnt Admitted by sirmose: 2:15am On Dec 23, 2016 |
Mr man, stop bragging for a failed response with wrong computation from your so called, howbeit, self-acclaimed standard OAU. Even you could not see the obvious wrong calculations. The below would help you. "It could only be convincing to people like you without reasoning cap. You are damn wrong as the OAU you thought to have known has just disappointed you with wrong computation. How do you explain the repeating of physics twice but single counting? Where is her eighth subject? With the eighth subject assuming a score of C, she should have a total of 50, instead of 44. That is, 78.13%. Plus the 80% in UTME, divided by 2, she should have an average of 79%, which qualifies her for admission under merit. The so called highly rated OAU has crashed the supposedly howbeit self-acclaimed high standard. Knowing this now, are you not disappointed?" Tstone1: |

Re: Provost Of Health Sciences Oau Gives Reasons Why Mrs Aror Wasnt Admitted by baum1: 2:19am On Dec 23, 2016 |
BraniacX: Even if she submitted only 7 subjects but submitted more than the required 5 o'level subjects as required by JAMB, she would have to make an F in the 8th subject for it to be used to compute her overall O'level GPA. I have told that to OGA pHi001 and even used example of real university courses. |

Tstone1: Oga, I agree with some of your point, but for this girl matter, her achievements are not gotten by spending hours on social media. May be you are referring to some other people, definitely not her. Her achievements are not made with her brain by doing social media in the way you have portrayed it. In my days, which was about roughly 16 years ago, one would be near genius level to perform at her overall level. 1 Like |

akoko11: The provost points are not wrong, but there are still questions. Please login to facebook, search his name, he is there, and send him a message. Let's all do that. There are issues. I have looked at the matter with some depth and I can confirm there are some assumptions made in the computation of the GPA which are not definite. 2 Likes |

Phi001: She's already a student in the system and was just bidding her time to get her preferred course That F would've disqualified her from applying and she knows that too, like i said, she's already a student in ife and as such no stranger to the admission process and requirements |

Unity19: 320, 4As and no admission, and some fucker up north will probably enter with less than half her score. This is the problem with the goddamn nation. You shouldn't have to talk with anyone. Everything should be based on merit and there shouldn't be another list for the so-called "Educationally Less Developed States". After billions of Naira over the years, those northern elite bastards refuse to develop the level of education in their respective states. Their children only require a measly score to get in and fast forward 15-20 years, they occupy all the important positions in the country while the southern kid that got good grades will still be searching for a job. Southerners are big f00ls! They live in a society where their children have to put in twice as much effort to compete with a northerner that knows fvck all! 1 Like |

All 19 northern States, educationally less developed? This is trash. so you would admit olodos and leave out the gurus based on the fact that they(olodos) have refused to place importance on education. So the more they say BOKO HARAM the more you give them admission and leave out those who say BOKO IS LIFE. I don't understand at all. This policy of educationally less developed states should be scrapped. 1 Like |

They say she is already a student of a medical course at IFE. Read the other thread. So, at this point, I shall rest my case. She was given something after all. Thanks all for the debate. It's been pushy but pleasant. Meanwhile, if anyone has a first class in any course and looking to study abroad on scholarship, hit me an email. Cheers! |
Re: Provost Of Health Sciences Oau Gives Reasons Why Mrs Aror Wasnt Admitted by BraniacX(m): 2:32am On Dec 23, 2016 |
baum1: Exactly! In the absence of an F to account for a missing result and given the fact that she's already a student there and as such not new to the system, that leaves the most likely source of the omission to be computing error on the part of the school admissions board, I would love to be proven wrong though |
Re: Provost Of Health Sciences Oau Gives Reasons Why Mrs Aror Wasnt Admitted by CoCoLav(f): 2:38am On Dec 23, 2016 |
This same shit happened to me and my dad was even on the board. Cut off was 70.3 and my score was 70.2. I wasn't admitted under merit coz I didnt make it obviously. Had to get in through staff connections. Top universities DO NOT joke with their merit lists. All of you saying nonsense are blatantly ignorant. 1 Like |

baum1: Just read this part of his analysis n tell if they are not contradicting, remember he said she is at 103 position. Clearly although Aror did well, her mark was NOT good enough to earn her admission on merit to read Medicine in Ife. Her mark of 75.2% is clearly below our cut-off mark (which was initially 78%, but we later reduced to 77.7%). Between her mark of 75.2% and 77.7%, by the way, there were 56 other candidates who scored higher than her but did not make the cut-off. For example, two people had 77.6%, two other people had 77.5%, four people had 77.4% etc. They should come up with another lie |

[quote author=Greatzeus post=52174662] If you are intelligent enough and have an open mind, you will buy into " this vague calculus theorem". She had the internet and used it,it worked for her because it got to those that matter, and a reasonable reply was given. We are talking of Medicine here and OAU,hundreds or thousands must have choosing the same course, many would have the same grade as her but were also denied admission, many will have better grade than her but were also denied admission. They accepted their faith and didn't come online to gain public sympathy, she has been honored by the response of the provost. That's enough.[ NONSENSE TALK.....IS IT EASY TO PASS JAMB WITH THIS EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF OURS.......MTCHEWWW!!!!!.......mayb they should defer ur admission too] |

nobody has made this my kind of comment in this room as to why we still believe that some places in Nigeria are educationaly lss priviledge so they have to give them opportunities and less cut off marks to gaining admission into universities same thing that happened in considering employment as I was reading recruitment recently where it was written boldly that people from the north will be considered first for employment in the federal univ.. oyeekiti recruitment scheme. the oau vc said 20% for pple from the north and 35% for pple from south west , why not 20 % for sw student and 35 for less priviledge and so on... To me this is very bad an this measure has been denying our pple from gaining admission for decades whereas hardly you will get to a street in sokoto kebbi zamfara without a medical doctor an most of them dont even stay in nigeria after they finished bit ican tell you that in my whole entire family there is no doctor nor lawyer yet they will say pple from ondostate are well learned, this is a decieving statement, its just different. And in the north , thier indigen need only 216 to have medicine admission in jamb and every year they admit up to 140 students 90 percent from the north and the other part of the country share the 10%, that is in a class there are about 126 student that are indigene, now lets compare it with OAU admission 100 in a class and such advantage is given to the northerners then how many student will be from the southwest .....somethin must be done to right this errors and we should stop decieving ourself cos we are very behind and if it continue like these..I fear what wil hapen in the next 10 years. 1 Like |
