Ipob Threat To Buhari: Conversation With Igbos by MayorofLagos(m): 3:38am On Dec 23, 2016
There are two quotes below, first one was released before the event. The second one is released at the event.

Before any of the two releases IPOB issued a threat demanding the President of Nigeria stay away from South East but if he fails to yield to their demand they are resolved to cause a bloodbath and commit suicide in the focus to terminate his life.

In a similar declaration the South East Senate Caucus said they will boycott the Summit since "security" is part of agenda in the Summit and they differ that there is a security issue in SE, rather, an economic problem which they call on the President to address.

The purpose here is to draw attention to the fact that this Summit is owned by SE. In the pre-ad they stressed this point and that "guests" from other regions are also expected to join and hear their agenda and strategy for rehabilitation and renewal.

Key amongst the SE facilitators are Professor Barth Nnaji, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, SE State Governors, SE Constituency leaders in NASS as well ex Military Chiefs and Industry Executives.

Any non-SE attendee is expected as an observer through the honorary invitation.

It is very troubling and with deep consternation that those who own this event, recognized individuals with power and access into government, industries and culture failed, after learning of the IPOB threat, to take action and implement risk management and intervention steps to abort the threat. Instead, they sat and looked and allowed militias and protesters of their ethnic group to humiliate the President and other expected guests, leading to a failed and wobbly Economic and Security Summit for the SE.

Can IPOB rehabilitate and renew SE economically? For lack of foresight and proper risk management elites of SE yielded to pressure from militias and embarassed their region nationally.

Read in the second body of quote below into Chief Emeka Anyaoku's statement. He pretty much abandoned himself to the reality infront of him. Very incompetent speech to give to national audience, or any audience for that matter considering the grave outcome.

Is this not the guy Fashola named an Estate in Lagos in his name? He has no clue what to do when faced with a calamity in his own home region.

With this victory IPOB has succesafully hijacked political fortunes out of the hands of mainstream leaders in SE and made itself the driver and concessionaire at the altar of negotiations between SE and Nigeria.

If the elites of SE are unable to safeguard and guarantee safety for the President on the soil, who will guarantee their own safety when threatened by IPOB? IPOB now has a weapon with which to herd them, willingly or unwillingly, into the Biafran State. Any one in SE promoting One Nigeria in SEnow does so at his own risk. The custodian of One Nigeria, Buhari himself conceeded the ground, so who is there to oppose IPOB?.

On the other hand, the interpretation in the oracle suggests the Summit owners themselves, by their silence and lack of intervention, overtly commissioned the harrassment to the President. Those who have power to stop it looked the other way!

The division of Nigeria looked more real than ever before. This outcome is clearly a security issue and I am not sure now how the SE Senator Caucus will stop Buhari from seeing it for what it is.

Top economic and political leaders in Nigeria especially those of South-east extraction will come together at the Government House Enugu tomorrow, December 22, 2016, for the maiden South-east Economic & Security Summit.

The summit, which is an initiative of the South-east Economic & Security Summit (SEESS) Group, a non-governmental organisation made up of top business, military, political, religious and community leaders from Nigeria’s southeast region – is aimed at addressing real issues affecting the peace and development of the southeast, proffering practical solutions and initiating a definitive course of action with pragmatic delineation of roles towards fast-paced economic and secure advancement of the region.

According to Professor Barth Nnaji, a former Minister of the Federal Republic and Chairman of SEESS Group, “All five Governors from the southeastern states will be participating at the Summit, and they will join other eminent personalities and delegates to discuss issues of common interest, including security, agriculture, infrastructure, health tourism, as well as financing the region’s economic program.

In an earlier statement, Professor Nnaji had noted: “The summit will be a meeting where specific problems are defined, projects to address the problems are adopted, and what the various stakeholders roles – including that of the Federal Government – in solving the problems are also presented.”

SEESS 2016 is an invitation-only event with delegates drawn from the leaders of the South-east, Presidency, National Assembly, state governments, the diplomatic community, top local and international business leaders and investors, multinational corporations, bankers and financiers, the academia, security experts, civil society groups, religious bodies and other non-governmental organisations.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday stayed away from the maiden South-East Economic and Security Summit in Enugu, which started about 48 hours after some pro-Biafra agitators warned him not to set foot in Igboland.

Buhari was meant to be the Chief Guest of Honour at the summit, which held in the Enugu State Government House, according to the programme of the event.

Although the President was expected at the event, as noted by several speakers who spoke during the event, he did not show up, neither was he represented.

Also, ministers from the South-East, who were slated to make presentations at the event, all stayed away.

A pro-Biafra group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, had in the build up to the summit, issued a statement, warning Buhari to stay away from the South-East, in his own interest.

IPOB, whose leader, and director of pirate radio channel, Nnamdi Kanu, is being held by the Federal Government, accused Buhari of ‘persecution’, and threatened ‘a breakdown of law and order’ should the President attend the summit.

While no mention of the IPOB warning was made throughout the opening session of the summit, Buhari’s absence was a major talking point as several speakers expressed surprise, and confusion, at the development.

The Chairman of the South-East Security and Economic Summit, former power minister, Prof. Barth Nnaji, in his opening remarks, observed, “We have not seen the President.”

Later on, in a presentation by the summit committee, Nnaji had to substitute Buhari’s name with that of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who attended the event as the ‘Distinguished Guest of Honour’, in the introductory part of a prepared address where he was to thank Buhari for attending the occasion as the Chief Guest of Honour.

Instead of thanking Buhari for gracing the occasion as the chief guest of honour, as stated in the prepared address, Nnaji thanked Obasanjo for attending the event as the distinguished guest of honour.

Nnaji also thanked the Enugu State government for undertaking to sponsor some aspects of the President’s visit.

The chairman of the event, former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, drew attention to Buhari’s absence.

“I was going to start by saluting the representative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but I have not been told of such a person,” the retired diplomat said.

Anyaoku went further to express regrets that Buhari was not present at the event.

Rounding up his address with a call for the restructuring of the country, he said, “I had hoped that Mr. President would be here to hear me.

“Like Cato, the Roman senator who always ended his speeches by calling for the destruction of Carthage until his call was heeded, I will restate my assertion that if the Nigerian federation is restructured to have less federating units, this country will achieve greater stability and faster pace of development, and there will no longer be a need for the Federal Government to bailout many of the non-viable 36 states."

It is quite sad how you guys twists issues to suit your evil propagadan. PMB is the Commander in Chief FRN, hence he is the "provider" of security and not the other way round.

If the president with all the security aparatus at his disposal can not protect himself and other invited guests to an evident that borders on economic development of a region by extension Nigeria, the president should be blamed and not the "leaders" of SE.

By the way who told you that the governor of Enugu State did not provide adequate security as per what the laws allow with regards to a presidential visit?

So Mr. please blame Mr President and no one else.

If it is about murdering ancestors, Buhari has live n fresh blood running down his skeletal fingers. He admits it over and again that he murdered many during the civil war and he will do same if the opportunity rises again in the name of one Nigeria. He has caused deaths of our young corps members in d North due to his incitement of electoral violence. He has orchestrated the murder of thousands of unarmed youths for Biafra...He is the useless coward that will rather stand behind the barrel of a gun than stand face to face with men to dialogue and arrive at a suitably negotiated agreement. Most likely too mentally incapable of sustaining any intellectual discourse anyway.

The Igbo political class, like i have always pointed out are worryingly tactless, and once again, have been exposed for their inadequacies.

IPOB, had done the job of drawing the attention of the FG and the Nigerian nation to the "perceived" neglect of the SE by the Nigerian govt. An economic summit was put in place and the PMB, as a show of goodwill decides to attend in person. It was expected that the Igbo leaders will reach out to IPOB leaders and come out with a united position for the development of the SE and milk whatever they can from the FG.

The FG already has put the 2nd Niger bridge into its budget for the coming years, the SE leaders and IPOB leadership should have drawn up and presented other critical infrastructures needed in place for economic development of SE. They fail to utilise opportunity and worse still, returned a good gesture with threats.

Obasanjo and GEJ, both southerners, have never been threatened by Northern groups and Northerners. I wonder why the Igbos just decided to take their hatred to new lows.

What amazes me is that some have still not realized that the SE only succeeded in cutting its nose to spite its face, and further alienating itself from the centre, which is what the likes of Orji Kalu have been trying to fix.

The President can no longer be blamed if refuses to visit or pay any concrete attention to the SE and it's issues from this point onwards, and it will be naive to think that this development will not have an adverse effect on the Presidents future disposition to the region.

If anything was achieved, it was a confirmation of the security concerns in the region and an impetus to step up the operation python dance, so that the entire region is not taken over by the treasonable secessionists.

So it is now the South East leaders (i.e Governors, Ministers, Senators, and maybe traditional rulers) that should provide security to a whole president of the country and not the other way round. U see, tribalism is very bad and when it eats deep into someone, the person starts talking and behaving silly. The very same people that boasted here that nothing will stop Buhari from attending the summit have suddenly changed goal post finding every reasons to display their hatred. The funny part of it is that most of these people are from the western part of the country. In all sincerity, most of my friends from the north cares not whether this country is bifurcated into eight parts but will rather emphasize that Abuja will go with them incase of any division. But any time i raises the same question with my yoruba peeps, they starts giving over 100 reasons why Igbos should stay in Nigeria. When did u guys develop this sudden love for the Igbos? We should shun tribalism and allow people choose what they deem fit is best for them.

IPOB is slowly hijacking the Igbo grassroots, and a time is coming when the only way an Igbo politician can remain politically relevant is by aligning to IPOB agenda, which is a Biafran one.
Everybody in Igboland is currently praising the actions of SE senators, this their singular action resonated well within the Igbo grassroot populace. I was impressed too.

If this strategy works, then I must have really underestimated IPOB, and they must be commended for marshalling out this long term painful plan and sticking ever fervently in their resolve to bring it to a logical conclusion, even if it involved their members paying the ultimate sacrifice.
