Don't we play Ghanaians songs in our shows too? sarkodie has a large fan base in Nigeria, Fuse ODG, VIP and Shattawale has a considerable fan base too. I think if his song was the rave of the moment it would have been played.

When makossa songs were in vogue, it was played in Nigeria more than our local songs. He should go back to the studio and cook a dope song and Ghana and world beyond will celebrate him. Same advice goes to other Ghanaian artists.

Because the UK and the US speaks English.

Have you ever sat down and listen to a bosnia song? Or a Fiji song?

Use common sense

Awilo was popular in Nigeria but do Nigerians understand French and lingala?
What about gangnam style that had over 1 billion YouTube views? He was singing in Korean. Do Americans understand Korean?
American musicians sing in English but their songs are hits in countries where English isn't spoken.
Even in Nigeria, some yoruba songs are widely listened to by igbo and other tribes who don't understand yoruba.
Over 90 percent of the songs on my phone are Congolese music from the 80s and 90s. I don't understand what they are talking about but they sing good music.
Good music is universal.
You are the one who lacks common sense.

I do agree that a higher percent of music of a particular country should be played on their radios and during events.
I saw an interview of a particular artist (not mentioning name) from Kenya by a Kenyan top show. At the end of the
interview a Nigerian song was played.
I am a Nigerian but did not like that, not because we are not one Africa, to me it seemed awkward to say the least.
Back to topic I think more of their artist music should be played.
We do it in Nigeria too. In certain parties local artist from that particular region is played because of those present
at the party.

We have some Ghanian songs and artistes that we welcome here in Nigeria infact their songs are played and used to rock events and parties . Talk about the likes of VIP, Sakordie , R2 bees, I rem 4x4, infact I remeber "Kiss your bride" songs.
Going back memory lane back in the 1990's up to the early 2000's it's was mostly foreign Music that were played in parties and events : I remember "Sisquo - Unleash the Dragon", Wyclef, DMX, Bahamen _ who let the dogs out but along the line Nigerian Artistes and Mostly Music producers, Media and Promoters took it upon themselves to step outside the Norm and up their game. The likes of Kenny Keke and D1 started Music promotion to different countries, The media played their part, different foreign beats where infused to our local beats that atimes when u listen to them you think they are foreign.
The problem with Ghana what I see is that they have refused to up their game. One can easily identify a Ghana Song with the beat alone, their media over there are not helping issues too. The Ghana promoters, Music producers need to step up and step outside the norm in their music.
What is big is big like somebody said.

This is the reason why the ghana music industry will not grow beyond what is a s today. Nigerian music industry became what it is because we listen to music from our ther nations and fuse it with our culture to produce a blend that can be accepted globally.
Once upon a time, Nigerian artists were known to remix songs from other nations, we mocked it but never condemned it. Today, the result is there for all to see. If Ghanaians are forced to listen to only Ghanian music, that will spell doom for their Industry.
Nigerian music is globally accepted because we accepted music from other parts of the world.
