wittyshey: From what i know..i stand to be corrected. ..notorazation of yellow card isnt necessary. ..it is only documents that are not in original format or if u are using scanner that wont bring out the content on the original format. .u can then notorize...as yellow card is concern..i think the only place they ask me was when i wanted to do the medicals....also u can attach it when filling ur document and upload it and tag it with the name yellow fever card |

OK, I ve received numerous PM's since my last post and they are common questions which I will address here to avoid repeating myself and to avoid more PM's. Here: . . The advice won't be a bread and butter solution, but its the wise way. Write your CDR and assess for Engineering Technologist. Trust me, I ve seen a very long wait for state nomination. Technologist also has same 15points as professional engineer. The slight disadvantage is that technologist is in very high demand so you should be going with 70 points to get a good chance. To attain 70 points won't be a child's play definitely. Currently you have a chance for 65 if you had a B.Sc in engineering and 20 in English test. To get the extra 5 would be based on a bigger decision. You have 4 options, but I am not too sure about them, so you ve got to research more 1. Getting 5 points from spouse who has gotten positive assessment. 2. Getting a professional year program in Australia. Thing is, I don't think there is a direct visa for a professional year program. It can only be done under another visa scheme like after studying. So, you ve got to research more on this. 3. Doing a language course. Search more about it also. I think it only takes months. With about 1- 2k$. Honestly, this is difficult but possible. 4. Getting 5 points from Australian study which can only be claimed after your 2 years masters. The downside is...policies and situations change very fast, so this is a gamble. So, I proposed these stuff based on that you are already willing to invest some thousands of bucks on school and not from an empty pocket. However, truth which I ve learnt about all this is, money is just fundamental to get you to a point, but your determination will take you far. BTW, I know this post isn't meant to be on this thread, but I m posting it as a follow up to my suggestion. I advise you make more research from the PR theread before any subsequent questions and before committing yourself for graduate studies. . Hope you make a wise decision. Merry Christmas everyone. 3 Likes |

Doodoo10:The advise given to you was based on the previous information you provided on this thread. While your condition does not qualify you as a PR candidate that was why I further informed you to get here on a student visa and carry on from there. You have been advised again to look into Engineering technologiest (ET) as an option but unfortunately Petroleum engineering does not fall into (EAT) specialization. You may want to contact a professional mara immigration agent to best advise you as you don't want to waste your time, energy and resources; and at the end your visa is refused. Follow this link to read a bit more on engineering technologist to see if you qualify for sol or csol and do further research. http://deltaimmigration.com.au/Engineering-Technologist/233914.htm Coming in Australia as a student is always not the best but if it's the only option you have means you have to grab it. Laws in Australia changes by the day If you are good at what you do and have a portfolio you can be sure of getting a job and a sponsor that is another route for PR 1 Like |

Please can you give a brief on cost and requirement for the yellow card. Also was polio involved in this card, I know Nigerians are expected to show polio certificate. I am asking because I intend going there for mine tomorrow morning. For your question, all medical documents can be attached under "health evidence". Thanks. wittyshey: |

Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 9:12pm On Dec 25, 2016 |
WestAfrican: Bro, that's not correct. With petroleum engineering as undergraduate study, you can get assessed with engineering technologist. I saw the site and those specializations don't matter.I ve been positively assessed with electronics engineer and when filling the space for specialization, I left it blank cos the option I saw there was "communications specialist" which I have no idea of. Typically, the assessor sometimes asks the applicant to change to engineering technologist from other professional occupations especially when they are not satisfied with the quality of the CDR. I ve seen people asked to change from electrical and also from electronics (both which are not under the technologist specializations) to Technologist. Nevertheless, You re doing a commendable job on this thread..Cheers |

mctowel01: Occupations removed from the SOL on 1 July 2016 were: Mining Engineer (Excluding Petroleum) (ANZSCO 233611) Petroleum Engineer (ANZSCO 233612) Metallurgist (ANZSCO 234912) Environmental Health Officer (ANZSCO 251311) Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (ANZSCO 251312) Dental Hygienist (ANZSCO 411211) Dental Prosthetist (ANZSCO 411212) Dental Technician (ANZSCO 411213) Dental Therapist (ANZSCO 411214). Just asking myself why Petroleum engineering was removed from sol? May be they don't want applicants to know they can still be assessed under engineering technologist? |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by bellong: 12:09am On Dec 26, 2016 |
^^^^^ Engineering technologist is broad and class of Engineers who are not considered professional engineer. An electrical, chemical, petroleum, mechanical etc can all be assessed as engineering technologists. Engineer Australia assign this to any engineer they deem the CDR does not meet a professional engineer standard. I want to believe that is why he advised the guy to assess as an engineering technologist which I believe is a reasonable advice. 3 Likes |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by WestAfrican: 3:33am On Dec 26, 2016 |
If I were in his situation I will not apply under engineering technologist. After spending quality time researching on it, I personally won't apply under engineering technologist unless I: 1) Get the go ahead from Engineers Australia after ringing or emailing them on (1300 653 113 memberservices@engineersaustralia.org.au) 2) Have at least 65 points 3) Have all relevant documents ready before lodging my application 4) Fast track my application (which takes 15 days to process instead of 6months) If I don't meet the aforementioned criteria , I do rather come in on a student visa and then try applying for PR. That is what I will do personally. 1 Like |

WestAfrican:Bruh...I ve studied the system for a while to have a level of certainty in what I m saying. Petroleum and mining were removed from the SOL for a popular reason - due to the global decline in the oil prices and hency, the industry. Probably the same for mining. Moreover, DIPB adds and removes occupations from the Sol list and not EA. EA only issues occupation assessment, like every other assessing body, based on their different criteria. So, if positively assessed with EA for technologist and the applicant has very high points, there is nothing stopping DIPB from processing the application. I also suggest you do more thorough study on EA assessment and the skilled migration program.. Cheers |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 6:20am On Dec 26, 2016 |
WestAfrican:It is good to get a masters degree there, but just so you know, there is no added direct advantage or incentive for being a student while applying for PR. Total points which can be claimed in Nigeria remain the same even while studying there unless you ve completed the 2 years masters of course... As we all know, policies change fast, so its not wise to wait 2 years for 5 points which may/may not be applicable. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by WestAfrican: 8:41am On Dec 26, 2016 |
mctowel01: My bro I have always advocated for PR rather than study. But in a situation where one finds it difficult scoring 60 points and above and wants to leave the country as things are getting worse then it's better to opt for a study visa then carry on from there. Masters gives you equal point as undergraduate degree. The advantage of applying while in the country is: ~You can appeal the decision ~ You are still on your student visa and will remain in the country ~ You can continue your studies and earn a master's degree ~You get a 2 year graduate study visa after you graduate ~You can lodge another PR ~You can get married (if still single) and get your PR through that avenue There are heaps of PhD students in Australia who are still finding it difficult to get their PR all because they couldn't score 20 points in ielts TOEFL. If your Bsc certificate is not from Australia you will most likely be asked by your case officer to apply via Engineering technologiest and believe there are thousands of applicants and only 20-30% make it before the window closes and these ones have wealth of working experiences under their belts. There is no problem giving it a crack thou but then like I previously said, I would only do it in those conditions I had listed above. Everyone will tackle the situation from a different perspective but left for me I will tackle the way I have mentioned (na person wey wear shoe know wer e dey pain am) 2 Likes |

mctowel01: What's the probability of Petroleum/Mining Engineers getting Nsw state sponsorship with 65 points excluding state sponsorship points? In my opinion, I feel the long wait for Nsw sponsorship is by those Engineers who have 55 points. |

@WestAfrican, please I need your advice on a situation. My bachelor's degree in Business Admin(2.1) from UNIBEN was assessed as an associate degree by VETASSESS, so my question, Is Nigerian bachelor degree equivalent to Australian associate degree? Or was my qualifications wrongly assessed. Your thoughts please. WestAfrican: |

Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 2:10pm On Dec 26, 2016 |
ideamaster:State sponsorship is not easy to predict as it just happens at irregular intervals. For 55 points based nomination, yes it is true that the waiting time is longet, but still with 60+5 or 65+5 points, its not fast either. For petroleum engineering, you can get a hint from chukdee13 . I think he applied for state nomination around July or thereabout. I don't know if he he as been nominated, you can find out from him. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 2:26pm On Dec 26, 2016 |
WestAfrican:I m also an advocate for leaving for post graduate studies if one feels the PR application will be easier from there. The advantages you stated there are also true but just to correct something, One can get assessed with a professional engineering status irrespective of the undergraduate location. I was assessed as electronics engineer with no work experience and bsc from Nigeria so it is very possible. Nonetheless, I think your knowledge of the PR scheme is still a bit sketchy as there are some statements you made which can be misguiding. |
