Hello guys, just a moment of your time about sponsorship letter please.. will a sponsorship letter from anyone in Europe works for the students visa or is it compulsory it must come from a resident in Germany? Thanks in anticipation for your reply.

To second what the poster above me said. The sponsor must be based in Germany & have a reasonable source of income.

I greet you all.
Pls does anyone know the steps or procedures to apply for PhD and how to get a supervisor in Germany.
Som1 needs help.
God bless.

Evachi, let him/her search for school of interest then search for a supervisor in his area of specialisation. Send a mail to the supervisor with your CV, motivation and possibly transcripts. Supervisors reply will determine the direction of your admission. Many supervisors won't reply so you need to send to many as possible.

If you have have been following this thread, you'd realize this has been discussed.

The chances are very slim especially for Nigerians. For language courses, you will be referred to Goethe.

If the conditional admission is dependent on say passing the German language exam, I will strongly recommended getting proficient & writing the exam here in Nigeria(Goethe Institute).

Bro, I will be straight up frank with you. I wouldn't want you to start having rejections with the German embassy.

It definitely has a high rejection rate for us.

Here is another option. Go for an English taught course. When you get there, you can transfer to the course of choice.

This is way safer gambling with your chances.

I am in Lagos ATM.

Well, seems you are applying to a higher semester?

What course is this?

From the little I know, conditional admission will get you a student applicant visa which can only be converted to a student visa in Nigeria.

This implies that in the unlikely event that you get the student applicant visa & finish the language course in Germany, & eventually secure the admission; you will have to return to Nigeria to get a student visa.

So, I guess you can make an informed decision now.

BTW, you should look at other universities or for a fully English course.

Are you sure about the conditional admission because the school I'm considering in germany said that they can give me conditional admission if i have up to B1(but I'll still learn up to B2 to play safe) and they'll teach me the remaining levels and prepare me for the DSH exam and thats because the geothe in Nigeria teach up to B2 and the requirements for most universities is C2 or TestDaf 4x4(which you can write with B2 but would be really difficult)

How is the cost of living like in Germany? ..
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by chrisley024(m): 5:08pm On Dec 27, 2016
Depends on how you look at it
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 3 by doubletroublmum(f): 6:11pm On Dec 27, 2016
Hi. The cost of living depends on the place you live. Cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Munich are far more costly than smaller towns.

Like I said, I found this out through research.

My take-away from it was that you get a student visa for a valid admission; & a student applicant visa for a conditional one.

Someone on this thread had a problem similar to yours. His studienkollen indicated in his admission letter that he will write an exam in Germany before being admitted fully

The German consulate refused to accept that as an admission letter.

I didn't follow up so I don't know how he went about it.

I am throwing this open to more experienced guys here to shed more light on this situation.

BTW, don't apply to just one uni...spread your tentacles & hope for the best.

please be advised, the German embassy does not grant visa for language courses and the only conditional admission that can grant you a visa is student college admission, trust me dont bother paying for language course in Germany, your money will just go with the wind.

Hello guys, just a moment of your time about sponsorship letter please.. will a sponsorship letter from anyone in Europe works for the students visa or is it compulsory it must come from a resident in Germany? Thanks in anticipation for your reply.
Your sponsor needs to make an appointment at the Ausländerbehörde in his city.

They would give he/she a date to come in, as well as the required documents to bring along to verify that he/she is suitable to be your sponsor for your visa. It cost 25€

Once your sponsor has fulfilled all the necessary requirement, he would be issued a document, which is the sponsorship letter, duly stamped. that is the sponsorship letter. He needs to send the copy to your, as the embassy needs to see the original format. You can ask that he/she scans it before sending it via courier, as you would need it for requesting a date for your visa interview.

All what your sponsor needs from you is your full name (as it appears on your passport) date of birth birth and your address here in Nigeria (for the courier).
