If its really what's meant for you age shouldn't be a deterrent, keep chasing you dream what's the point living a life that's full of regrets and what its? Scroll up and be inspired don't let age be the excuse for not chasing ur dreams.

If medicine is what you truely want then I'll urge to keep trying because greater things most times don't come easily..Age should be the last determinant factor when making a choice of career; It doesn't make sense to me afterall some are very bright but do not have opportunity to attend a university of their dream..In most cases,It's not how far but how well.

If your passion for medicine is pure and medicine is what you actually want, then go for it. I don't know why age is an issue for you but that goes to say that you have to go in as soon as you can. (If you need someone to discuss your uncertainty with: Whatsapp: 08032447855)

If you are planning to come back to medicine after studying a first degree then you must mind the kind of people you discuss this decision with. Some people will make you appear stupid. Some will tell you stuffs that will make it appear that all you want is just to be called 'Doc.'. Some will make you feel you just wasted time and resources studying your first degree. Always avoid such people by all means. You will know them from their previous disposition or from what they say the first time they hear about this plan of yours. From then on, do everything within your means to make sure your paths don't cross again until you are done with your studies or well into it. Especially if you know you can't handle such poisonous words. This might even require you cutting off some friendships. Words are powerful and they carry spirits.

Nonetheless, you will always find solace and encouragement in the knowing that your motivation to go into medicine after a first degree or while already studying a course is genuine and that medicine is a necessary career path for you. With this deeply seated conviction/assurance you will ever be on the move even if you are the only one in the world taking such step. But you aren't. Know that countless others are taking such steps too but you might not see one around you. You can find some strength in that too.

Wishing you a Happy Christmas and a fulfilling new year ahead.

Just to encourage you.whatever is worth doing is worth doing well,And better the end of a thing than its beginning .I also finished microbiology from Unilorin a 2 1,did my master's too at the college in medical microbiology and parasitology, (virology) but then this passion still remains there and the conviction's becoming stronger and stronger each day,I applied via direct entry this year to my alma-mater but wasn't given,I would still apply next year Gods willing, though age is still fair on me, however never consider what people would say when it is about fulfiling your drive and passion, let the end justify for you and you own no body explanation about your decisions if you have prayerfully gone about it.When I informed some persons about it they thought I was insane saying why don't you go for your PhD, but I chose not to live with regrets later .Keep trying bro, your dream is achievable and would come to pass if you don't waiver.

I know how it feels to want something so so bad. For years I had been trying to get med, got zoology, did unilag diploma didn't get it then I gave up nd continued my degree made the best out of it and finished with a good 2:1. Went for service applied DE to unilag nd Lasu service year no avail. At a point i just gave up nd started applying to banks nd stuff till at and interview one of the interviewed roasted me, when I told her it was actually med I wanted to do but didn't get it. There and then I got a new sense of view reapplied DE ndnjamb had closed for utme. Chose Lasu but along the line heard about unimed, trued my luck and I got admitted into unimed. Lasu I didn't get.

To cut the long story short, everything really happens for a reason and its all according to Gods plan for you so you can get to ur expected end. If med is your expected end dont be dismayed if you don't get it at first. People called me foolish, misguided, selfish, friends laughed at me, but friend God bless his soul encouraged me on. Just kept chasing that rejection might be a way for God to tell you you aren't ready yet or he has something better in stock for you.

All the best to all aspirants may ur status change soon.

First step satisfied: you really want it bad. Next step is to qualify yourself and get what it is you want. You need God in all of these. You need 'nature' to be on your side. Simple: make sure your motivation for wanting to be a doctor is right. Your information bank must be stocked with the right info. What university are you applying to? How is their admission process? Clean? Their records, satisfying? Method of admission? Post utme alone (this might be possible; JAMB is unpredictable these days) or JAMB plus putme, or WAEC plus JAMB? You should be (almost) sure of the admission method to be utilize in the coming admission exercise. Do you see yourself meeting the requirements? If it's a school using WAEC and JAMB, your WAEC result is supposed to be at top notch and your JAMB score pot almost filled. You need someone currently a student of the school to feed you with relevant information and necessary material if need be. If you were preparing for Post-UTME in UNN for instance, you are supposed to use FELAR 909 to prepare for your English paper. If you don't know that, you will do hard work and not smart work in that area. Little things like these does the separation. Then believe in yourself. You need to be almost 'mad' in your confidence (self motivation) level on the inside of you. Anything that does the boosting for you--maybe some selected music or quotes or friends or mentors-- you should get daily dose. When these things are set then your reading becomes targeted and meaningful.

Read. Read the necessary materials. Study the winning materials. Ask around you will find them. For me, Pass At Once JAMB series were part of my winning materials. Read. Stretch yourself. Read. Master the past questions. Get the necessary help (e.g Lessons if need be). Pray. Read.

Write your exams. Pray. Follow the admission instructions with respect to deadline and specifics. Pray.

If the harvest is ready, if you put in the sickle, the fruit will permit.

Success dear!

Good day guys. I'm a second year BCh.D student at Unical. I've been following this thread and it has been very useful. I have a question to ask however, is Uniabuja's MBBS programme accredited? If it is, has the school inducted any set of doctors? I'm asking this because my kid sister wishes to apply Medicine and Surgery at Uniabuja and Google couldn't do much for me as regards the information I need. So I'd appreciate honest replies/answers from medical students at Uniabuja or anyone who knows much about the programme. Thank you.

great docs and medics, potential docs and erudite scholars, i acknowledge you all.
complements of the season, i am new here though I've been following this thread for at least 4 years its so amazing to skim through comments which are both educative and inspirational. congratulations to all those who got admitted into the bds and mbbs programs this year, to all those who didnt get their desired course i also congratulate and enjoin you to aspire for whatever you desire.
one person who has always been an inspiration to me is Dr lomaxxx,( with all due respect to all other medics) he has been here since time immemorial.
also i acknowledge the humanitarian service of some other medics(not to mention) who have took out time to respond to questions some of which are both funny and tiresome thank you all.
Wish you all a prosperous new year.

i will be most honoured to rapport with you all if possible get some contacts.

still an MBBS aspiarant, lol i never give up

u can study related courses like nursing Radiography med laboratory science dentistry etc.. But if u want gynecology n the rest u mentioned u ve to get an mbbs degree or it's equivalent, then u can specialize in those categories.. Unimed is a new school n it hasn't been accredited by mdcn but they still admit students so u can apply there.. It might take a while to graduate due to accreditation ish.. But definitely you'd still graduate.. It's a state sch so it shouldn't take so long to get accredited

U can try nursing, physiotherapy, dentistry, med lab, etc the others like surg,or tho, gyne, etc are medical specialties that require a MBBS.

Unimed is OK new school but OK, hopefully the accreditation should come on time as they are really working to meet mdcn criteria
Good luck in ur journey

i'm still going back for medical school i am considering doing a DE but dunno which school to apply to as i hardly see candidates with bsc not even 1st class getting admitted into a medical school.

not withstanding any suggestions on schools that may accept me with my degree
i will also try via jamb .
