Funny, cos those new Harris field radios, along with the dedicated Ground Land Mobile System built by ZTE across the nation for the security services were all bought and paid for by the GEJ administration (and delivered). Same with those brand new weapons and systems used to execute this war. But hey, keep insulting GEJ. At least he outperformed Buhari in military acquisition.

You still don't understand. It's not that radios don't exist for them to use but the willingness to provide it. You just said it, they were part of a peace keeping force and had no option but to provide standard equipment to be part of that peace keeping force. I believe it completely. Why? Because i am a soldier myself and just from the pictures that are always plastered here on NL, you can tell that they lacked, and are lacking much more than radios.
I agree with u DAT dey lacked ammunition in d last administration which was climaxed by d south African arms scandal if u can remember. But to go as far as saying whatsapp was used as d primary source of communication is just totally unbelievable its a big fat lie!

You are a soldier but yet you don't know that even if advanced countries there is just one radio to a platoon while in Nigeria it's one radio to a unit , so you think soldiers use what's app to direct artillery fire and talk to airsupport ...I voted for Buhari but I now hate the because of things like this

It is not difficult to know he's either lying or deliberately wanted to discredit GEJ.

1. A true soldier, who saw action and lost some (friends, teammate or superior or subordinate) will be more concerned about his survival come next battle and not civilian's perception of his 'success'.

2. The BH issue is not unconnected with the discovery of oil in the Chad basin. It's largely a politically induced tactic. The military was deeply compromised. Loyalties were divided and it was obvious that as some forces both within the military and external are genuinely fighting the BH war, some other forces too both within the military and without are desperately sabotaging...it's very inappropriate for him to make public this kind of assessments even if they were true...and by trying to narrow it down to specific period will only advertise his bias for any government... PMB's experience as a general will obviously affect however big or small the perspective of the military under him as president fighting a menace.

Whether they're victorious or successful, the battlefield is fluid and casualties happen both sides, the military is covert in their reports...for reason best unknown.

It's public knowledge that our military lacked basic ammunitions and equipments, while logistics is largely poor...but this is was a result of over 30yrs misappropriation and corruption. He shouldn't give wartime reports like a lawyer.

What did obj do for military in his 8yrs.
I still tell anyone who cares to know that the best thing GEJ did was the FOI bill that presently gave masses access to information. And this bill actually made GEJ the first casualty. We saw almost every actions and inactions under GEj and all the Corruption too...

I trust Nigerians will behead all past president/heads of state from 2007 traced back to Pre-Civil war period if they have just 10% access to information about what held sway...as compared to GEj tenure.

Assuming its 100% true, then this soldier, even by my civilian standards has said too much...he shouldn't be bothered about what we think or say. Nigerian Army is not the same as Super eagles...

This is the most vicious LIES ever told. How can the soldiers communicate via whatsapp in Maiduguri whereby no mobile network works within the said period in Borno state?

Where do they get network to whatsapp?

Bros, we are not talking about googling and that is not what the topic is about. And correction, it is four radios to a platoon. One for each squad leader and one for the Lt and platoon SGT. Plus not to mention the vehicle comms. Smh. And like i said, this is not what the topic is about. It is about the inability of the Nigerian Govt to provide the basic equipment needed for it's Soldiers to be successful in and out of conflict areas. All of a sudden, all of you have forgotten news of soldiers lacking basic equipment to do their jobs abi? Even the ones they have, you can tell they either are not properly trained to use these equipment or the discipline need to maintain it are not being enforced. I really don't understand why you guys like burying your heads in the sand to deny the obvious. Most, like you, are thoroughly uninformed and rely erroneously on google or just don't care. I tire for una i swear.

WhatsApp was a very good improvisation for comms during the GEJ era. The platform is very secure for comms within a group.
However, generally speaking, Goodluck Jonathan was almost the worst commander in chief in the history of almost every modern nation. We lost too much to BokoHaram in ways that were related to his poor leadership and childish attempts to curry the favour of the public and massive corruption.

It has been revealed how gallant officers at the battlefield communicate with their commanders and the importance of upgrading the NA communication equipment. Read below as shared by Usman Chindo.

I can tell you that i was in the North East when things were really hot and I can see the difference between the past and present. Unfortunately on this forum we have people blinded by their self hatred for anything after 2015 has been improved.

On my list I talked about Communications, From 2012- 2014, Soldiers would text their commanders on WhatsApp and Commanders walked around with packets of recharge cards in trenches distributing. During the failed attempt to retake Gwoza immediately after it fell to BHT, were we gifted BHT with 2 T-55MBT around Limankara village, were blamed on lack of effective communications support.

Today 2016, i can see the NA 56 Signals with advanced Command Radio Link Shelters (RLS) and the Staff Shelters (SS) dominating the electromagnetic spectrum in their specified AOR or theatre by locating enemy's position, monitor their communications.

Today in 2016 as shown the Army has Drones upon drones that guide their artillery and yet people will deny that anything has changed. Today, Nigeria army using High Power Wireless Anti-explosion Jammer as showed in Pix 3.

Tons of Video are available on YouTube showing we have dozens of Vickers Tanks repaired, T72 Tanks repaired, A-Jets upgraded and armed and the Logistics line that was non existent in 2014. I know it will not be enough for those who will continue to deny

But then, more needs to be done on this. For the Nigerian Armed Forces to be modernized their comms equipment needs to be top grade. By now i expect all arms of the service to be able to communicate to their various commands in their own dedicated encrypted lines, not relying on GSM coys.

It is surprising that many of these people that know next to nothing would be the one arguing with someone in the deep of the situation. They always think googling of relevant information is equivalent is knowing the practical.
The funny thing is that many of them even know but will want to play same political game to defend their lovers. Are we not in this country when soldiers were complaining of lack of equipment and many of them were court martialed, I was privileged to meet some of them this year when we had a training course in one of barracks. We were told a lot that they went through and confessed that it is now the morale is a little bit high. Linkage of classified information was there greatest undoing and obsolete equipment that they always bring to refurbished in Nigeria. The same Nigeria we are that the former Service Chiefs are returning monies meant to procure arms and ammunition while many of them used part of the proceeds to buy houses in their entire service career they cannot get such money.
Let these people continue shaming themselves and defending everything ordinarily they suppose not to defend.
The man that says, electorates have short memories was right.
