Well, I made most of my sales during the early days from the Buyer's Request. Subsequently, I made it from repeated buyers. Although, I have a couple of new requests outside the buyers' request.

Or do they just make the order? Cos what if you realise that the subject area is not familiar to you after an order has been made

This is just like one of the questions answered earlier. 99% of the time, they do. Perhaps, this is due to the explicit statement on my Gig that they should do that to get a high quality job promised. I don't think it's a luck 99% of the time.

You could start from the Philosophy and other areas in the humanity disciplines. The key is to learn the skill. In other words, being a philosophy student or that of any other discipline does not automatically qualify one to be an academic writer in that field. It can only make ex things easier than it ought to be.

I am an academic writer on Freelancer, wanted to ask you that how do you go about executing a project in an instance where the job requires you to download soft copies of the required materials (books), which are not free, from the internet? Do you request such a material from the buyer or simply cancel the project?

Like I said, 99% of the time, client made a contact before ordering. Making a contact is stated explicitly in my Gig as a precondition to getting quality service that I promised. When contact is established, I usually let them know that any indispensable material that I cannot get for free, they will provide it. Most times they have access to these materials and provide them. I use google scholar most of the time. Unless it is a review of a particular book, I usually get what I want for free on Google scholar.

It depends on the order specifications (e.g. word counts, standard required and my experience on the job). On the average, I deliver in 3 days.

Selling Gig through buyers request means submitting a bid (an offer) for a service request by a buyer. Every qualified seller has 10 offers per day. The buyer receives offers from many sellers and select what he/she wants. If you offer is accepted and paid for, you have made a sale through the Buyers request. On the other hand, a buyers could search for services (many Gigs from various sellers) and select one. If that is the case, you have made sales through the normal fiverr search engine. Please note that a gig means a service that you offer. Therefore, there is nothing like "selling through gig". I hope you understand this. If not, you can ask for clarification.

Kudos though, I wish to have the strength for doing this someday. God bless you for trying to put food on tables.

I will continue with the academic writing training (or should we say info) but I need to consider people that are ready to hit the ground running on Fiverr. Some people are already versed in academic writing and may want to go directly to selling on Fiverr. This will try to address their need. I have said it severally that you should search for the Beatzone thread in the business section and read at least the first 50 pages before you create your account and offer Gigs (services) on Fiverr. I cannot emphasize this enough. This thread will not teach you how to create the account but how to sell (which is the bottom line). Well, I have a little bit of marketing training and this will come to bear on my submissions on this thread. Enough of rhetoric! Let’s get down to business!!

A New Seller's Guide

As a new seller on Fiverr, your best bet to get the first Order (and even subsequent one) is through the BUYER REQUEST. Yes! You heard me right, BUYERS REQUEST! As a seller, you have an option of getting sales through the normal Fiverr search engine or through the Buyers Request. What it means to sell on Buyers Request (that I will subsequently refer to as BR) and the Fiverr search engine (Referred to as ’ SE’ henceforth) has already been dealt with (check answers to previous questions). You have to do that because if you allow laziness to prevent you from searching for needed information, then perhaps, academic writing is not for you. So, get your buts out there and fish out the info on this thread! If you don’t understand any aspect of it, then you can ask questions. I am sounding rather weird huh! I apologize, but you need to develop the zeal to search for information if you desire to make the ‘Green back’ i.e. $$$.

Selling through the Fiverr SE
Selling through the Fiverr SE is the easiest because you don’t have to chase buyers or write a proposal all the time. You just have to do all that through your Gig description once and for all and wait for buyers to locate your Gig and make the orders. That sounds very convenient? Yes, you are right, it is stress free but it has some ‘buts’. What are the ‘buts’? I will explain some of them here.
Selling on Fiverr SE requires that you rank well on the Fiverr search engine (SE). For you to rank well, you need a level of activity (sales) on your Gig as well as good ratings. As a new seller, where will you get that rating? Some ‘experts’ advocate that you buy the first review for your Gig. Buying review means that you pay someone to buy from you and leave a good review (arrange things, you understand). The problem is that considering the value of Naira to dollar, how many sellers can buy 10 reviews (at least $50) to have a relative chance of competing with people that have about 1000+ positive reviews? You may even be caught and your account banned. Notwithstanding, this has worked for some people but I think it is better to earn thing legitimately rather than through fraud. The bottom line is that even if you buy reviews it is very difficult to compete with established sellers with many reviews (some as many as 2k+ reviews). For the benefit of doubt (I know some people will still ask), let me state that I did not buy a single review and my average sales is about $60 per job.

Selling through BR
Selling through BR, from my experience, requires two fundamental things. One is experience in the service that you offer and the other is the ability to identify the buyer’s real need (sounding like a marketer huh!) and let him/her see that you can help in satisfying the need.
In fact, without requisite knowledge and experience, you cannot identify (most times) what a buyer really need. I have compiled some of the requests made by buyers and my bids (offer) that won the bids. I have prepared this in tabular form and convert it to pdf. You can download it and let us discuss why you think I won the bid. If you can identify what I did right (in specific terms) to win the bid, you will be able to make a good and winning offer through the BR as a new seller or even an established one.
Kindly download the attachment (i.e. nairaland.pdf) , read through it and identify what you think made the individual offer to win the corresponding buyer request (implicitly).

CAVEAT
Do not use the bidding template as it is. That may be counterproductive. For instance, let us assume that two or more people that got the template here submit it for the same job. The buyer will just see the sellers as 'cheats' and copycats. You know what that means.
