Pls mothers I want to start adding cowbell milk to my 9month old's pap. Is it ok

Ideally you shouldn't give regular cow milk e.g. cowbell before the child is 12 months. They may not be able to digest it and nutrients are not adequately suited. Cowbell has a formula called Tina, why not try that instead? I think it costs 1,300.

You can also try fortifying the pap, do your research and mix the pap with groundnut, crayfish, etc. I think they call it Tombrown or so.

Then give baby alternative sources of protein like beans and fish instead of only pap. Someone shared a recipe recently, wash skin away from beans (as if you're making moimoi) and cook with little oil, crayfish and ice fish (remove the bone) till its very soft, then blend or mash.

And continue breastfeeding as much as possible, breast milk is FREE.

Besides I don't know of how it is where you are, but i walked into a supermarket on Saturday and both Cowbell and Peak were N800. Loya was 900 abi 1,000 self. Cowbell Tina is 1,300 and Peak 0-12 is 1,400.

I think it's best to start with the root cause of the rashes as it's the rashes that leads to the spots. Once you deal with the root cause, then you can be sure that the rashes won't reappear again. It's pointless worrying about/treating the spots if she keeps getting the rashes.

1)Do you use disinfectant with her bath water? If yes, what brand?
2)What soap do you use in bathing her?
3)Have you changed her bath sponge recently? She might be due for a new sponge.
4)What cream/lotion do you use on her skin?
5)What part of her body can you find the rashes? Her face or all over?
6)what detergent do you use in washing her clothes?
7)Finally, if you do not mind, can you take a picture of the rash/spots and post it here? It might actually be heat rash or a rash that needs to be treated with mild ointments like baby tribotan.

Nothing wrong with your addiction as long as you are being "smart" about all your purchases. grin

'Smart' means buying dresses beyond her age especially when you find them on sale/rock bottom prices and keeping them till when she's much older and she can fit nicely into them.

I also do a lot of baby clothes shopping. Right now, I have clothes nicely folded away for ages 2-3 years which I found at bargain prices while checking online/various stores.

If I find shoes or clothes that I really like, I buy and keep because some retailers are known for not repeating a design. Once they sell out, that's it. They come up with another style.

I tend to do a clear out every 3-4 months. I sort out, fold and store away clothes/shoes that my son no longer fits into and I bring out new clothes which I bought monthsssssss back as he's now old enough to wear them. This means there very little or no clutter and I do not have clothes he's outgrown lying around.

1) replace her bath sponge.

2)nycil cream I believe has anti bacterial properties. Using that with tetmosol (which also has anti bacterial properties) and dettol in her bath water - I think its all too much for her skin.

Replace nycil with original cold pressed coconut oil. Replace tetmosol with any bath soap for sensitive skin. (Dove sensitive soap, Sanex is another brand (see attached pictures). You can continue with dettol in her bath water

3) try another detergent. Make sure you rinse her clothes thoroughly in water diluted with dettol.

4) post a picture when you can.

Your baby is fine. Keep doing what you are doing as per feeding, et al. For a baby with a birth weight of 2.5kg, he's doing really well regarding his weight gain in the last 10 weeks.

Most importantly, and do not compare his weight gain with any other baby - every baby weighs differently at birth and this is what is used to track/monitor their individual weight gain or loss.

Ladyprecy, in addition to what mamas have said, before using sponge to bath ur baby, rinse the sponge in disinfected water first, also isn't that detergent too harsh? Just thinking aloud, could you try using joy or lux soap to wash your baby's cloths.

Well, there really is no magic formula.
What brought about the spots? If that factor is removed, there is a high chance that he spots will fade.
The rashes, might be due to heat, water, cream, soap or allergy to a specific food. Find out which it is.
Many mamas here swear by Dove Pure and Sensitive bar soap for clearing rashes, you can give it a try.

You must be my long lost twin sister.
Only that some of outgrown clothes go to the trash and charity.
Only these days they almost always go to trash esp that of my 4-year old. I shudder at keeping some of his clothes for ANYBODY,...rough-ian angry

Trying to but its not easy

1. Dark spots wont clear
2. Skin wont re-awaken
3. Stomach fat wont go down n bfeeding hunger is not helping
4. Weight sef is piling up
5. Worse still cloths wont fit

My mon says for some, everything returns to normal after bossom feeding. And for someone like me who plans on feeding 4 9 months to 1 year... hmmmm

Congrats again ,and I your mom is right ,for some mother's, bouncing back to pre pregnancy body comes easily even while nursing/B feeding . The concerns you have mentioned here is nothing new especially for some mothers.
Spots and acne can be due to your hormones or medications you took when pregnant or are still taking now. Some pregnant mothers would also have a different skin condition like eczema and dry patches on the skin when pregnant ,so different mothers react differently.
Your skin will come back only when you start a routine to get it back ,it has stretched ,it has been deprived of adequate vitamins and collagen all due to Pregnancy.
So to get it back you will need a daily and nightly routine and also lots and lots of water intake .

My tip is to first find out if it is a result of any medication if not then find a facial cleanser with micro beads and exfoliate using a vibrating brush, once a week .
Then use a face mask once a week , you can find good ones by L'oreal or Neutrogena
Get a facial night cream for bed time and use sun block creams during the day.
Finally your daily facial moisturizer must contain these in order to help your skin improve ( Vitamine E , Alpha Hydroxy or AHA).

For your weight loss and Stomach fat ,I would recommend you join our fitfab therapy. Its not a Touch and go but a 3 to 6 month therapy for Mothers especially ,but it targets the post pregnancy weight loss and tummy training.
If you are doing any crunches after Pregnancy STOP right now as you damaging the abdominal muscles that require special Training to return to its pre pregnancy state and heal any Back pain from pregnancy.

Sit ups, crunches and planks are actually bad for women that have just put to bed as they contribute to severe back pain and slouching.
But rather exercises that are easy and can be performed any where.
If you are trying to lose weight while B feeding then try to eat healthy, prepare meals that are rich in nutrients And vitamins rather than fat and carbohydrates.
Meal plans can be created for you on request during your therapy and its something you can easily prepare yourself .
If you stick to a routine ,you are sure to return to your dress size or maintain the one you have now . The earlier you get in to a daily routine you can get that svelt look before your new born's first birthday.
Good luck dear.

@beeejaylere, cattarh is caused by a virus nd usually will take its course before it stops, so on ur part, no unnecessary exposure especially after bath,to dress ur baby appropriately to ensure warmth, u can add little eucalyptus oil (silverbird) into warm water, u sit carrying ur baby nd cover urselves up with a towel. It works too.

Apply Shea butter in and around the nostrils to clear the blocked nose, keep him warm at all times the weather may be the culprit.

My heart aches each time I look at him and what he is going thru in this his young life. But all the same, I give glory to God for it is by His mercies, that we are not consumed.
