Matthew 6:7-
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking

I noticed when i go to churches e.g MFM, CAC, Deeper Life e.t.c when it comes to prayers words are very much repeated a lot. And yet Jesus christ clearly can be quoted as being against vain repititions in prayers

That's a very good observation but the fact of the matter is that christians today generally don't obey the bible. They pray that their enemies should fall down & die when the bible clearly states that they should love them. Women go to church without covering their hair which is clearly instructed in the bible.

So there is a general disobedient spirit among Christians today

Very observant of you and it's sad cause most non Christians use them as a yard stick to judge all Christians.
When 'Christians disobey that which God has instructed us to do it clearly shows rebellion and the Bible compares rebellion as witchcraft. So if the so called pastors and the members cast and bind witches it's clear that God equally sees their sin of rebellion in the same light.

The fear of God is wisdom and to depart from evil is understanding.

op, there is repetition, and there is VAIN repetition. The former was commended (Luke 18) while the latter is condemned . You have given us an example of the latter. The former is illustrated:

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Matthew 26:44

Besides understand that what makes repetition vain is when we:

think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Matthew 6:7b

In other words when our faith is not in the Lord but in how much/fast we pray.

Does this condemn long prayers? NO (Jesus spent whole nights in prayer but it was based on faith in God, not faith in prayer length achieved by affectatious repetitions)

i was expecting this. In MFM you will hear Olukoya saying 'pray louder than the person beside you" what does this imply? Most people pray louder and longer because they believe their prayers will be heard thereby leading to lots of repititions in their prayers. In short am repetition is not needed in prayers since God isn't deaf or has memory problems
.

The user you quited has given a perfect reply.

Repetition is indeed different from vain repetition. Olukoya is not our standard, Jesus Christ is.

Repetitive prayer is a permission slip, a mantra open up a preferred reality. But when it is being used wrongly like the Christians do, the effects are devastating.

Yea I Do and understand

Talking about gross disobedience, I can accuse you of one.

Who have you preached this year 2017 (Preaching the Gospel is direct Commandment)

Meanwhile repetition is a sign of spiritual inadequacy.
A Christian with Holy Ghost Baptism will not bother what to say in prayer

Kindly explain.

People see prayer as a request from a God. But what they must know is everything they need in life already exist. And if they already exist the person is not tapping into that ability to experience what they desire. You cannot pray for water to fill your cup, but you can simply locate a tap or water can to get water.

Prayer should be an act of gratitude for what you have not what you need.... because you lack nothing.
