LordofNairaland: Governance Code 2016 of the Act encompasses three sectors: the private, the public and not-for-profit. It is the not-for-profit sector, sometimes referred to as the Benevolent Sector, the Third Sector or the Civil Society Sector, that religious bodies fall under. you didn't read the bold baa |

uzolexis: However, it doesn't help your argument. No one said 70 meant "too old". Moreover, the 70 years as age of retirement as always been a church stipulation. That the law buttressed it doesn't mean the law finds a 70 year old man incapable of carrying out his administrative duties effectively. So all that stuff about extending it to politics is childish. If Adeboye retires today, he can still contest for the presidency because no one is disenfranchised based on age. You Christians need to grow up now!!! |

LordofNairaland: 1st of, I won't call myself a christian, I was but now i'm not sure but i'm not an atheist either. 2ndly, because your point was proved wrong you have decide to use childishness as an excuse. You should read to understand before running to give your "supposedly smart ass" replies. I explicitly stated that my "too old" is implied from the law, which means it was not stated there and I wish the age limit should also be extended to politics.....I don't even see why this is so difficult for you to comprehend. maybe you should go back to English class. 3 Likes |

uzolexis: Haba, don't be silly, there are enough errors in your write up that suggest a rottenness in English. Well, you were not implying, you were certain that the law was unfair and should therefore be visited upon the supposed protagonists of such a law. Just take it easy, young lady. Remember that anger and madness are brothers. |

One thing with Yoruba is that Their Tribalism reach CHURCH..... you will never see other tribe being a member of governing body...... All the assistant GO will also be Yorubas, In portharcourt if a SS OR SE pastor suffer and built a very big or beautiful RCCG parish he will be transferred to a local or smaller Parish and a Yoruba man sent to that church from no where. That happened to my elder brother and so may I know |

There were reports on Saturday that the Federal Government had suspended the not-for-profit governance code of 2016. The human rights activist and lawyer explained that the law was suspended in relation to the public sector and not for organisations like churches and mosques. He said, “There was a stakeholders’ meeting where churches, mosques and civil society organisations met with the government. We actually challenged the regulation at the Federal High Court and we lost So we are also expecting the Leader of Muslims (Sultan) to step down. 1 Like |

GreatSE: Your brother's consolation should be that he's working for God. Politics is in the church too. But on the other hand, I know a Yoruba pastor who used to be in RCCG. His ministers are from various tribes: Yoruba, Igbos, Deltans, Benue, etc. I give him kudos for that. 1 Like |

Dotng: kaeforum: It may not necessarily fold up like that but I foresee several breakaways soon...just Let the man die and you will see so many denominations spring up from rccg. I'm not praying it folds up but trust me...it will, It happened to all ancient churches coz God is not interested in our 'unity' I mean One denomination becoming a grand brand...God is interested in our 'Scatteredness'...that's the endgame of evangelism. Catholic→ Anglican→Methodist, Baptist...Ecwa, TAC, CAC,African, Salvation Army all experienced or will experience breakaways at different points in time. |

Lol. Story This will only lead to GOs planting stooges. No bi to just put figure head. I doubt if their successors ll have any veto power. Most founders/overseers wont let their sphere of influence ever be taken from them. Its their sweat that built the church (so thry think) . But am sure there are a few exceptions. 1 Like 1 Share |

donnie:Laws must be followed, and frankly, there is nothing wrong with this FRC law; it only ensures transparency and accountability. The reason why there are many materialistic churches and imams today who dupe their members in the name of religion is because their was no government regulation to whip them in line. You should also remember that christian politicians are part of the people who made this law,it isnt a presidential decree,so it has nothing to do with "witch hunting". |

49cents: Catholism is the oldest form of brainwashing. All churches/denominations literally started from catholism. And they took with them both the good, the bad and the ugly... Catholism has only evolved after hundreds of years that is why you are not seeing them making errors like these modern Pentecostals...They have made all these mistakes Several hundreds of years ago so they know better. Even the religious war/Jihad war the Muslims are fighting presently, are considered small to what the Church had perpetrated hundreds of years ago. There was a time in human history where people either accept faith or be killed. So the jihadists' who are fighting holy wars are learners. Catholic is not standard because of it's 'perfect' succession plan or what have you. But by several years of terrible mistakes, errors, internal corrections and purging... 1 Like 1 Share |
