Rochas Okorocha Is Not Owing Pension by ImoRiver: 4:29pm On Jan 08, 2017 |
This thread is necessary to correct some misnomer circulating on Nairaland for a while. There have been numerous protest by pensioners in Imo State recently because of political reason hence the attempt to mislead the uninformed. The reason for the protests is not because pensioners are owed by Okorocha Government but because arrears of pensions were accumulated between 1976 till date with the longest being 33 months of IBC pensioners who were laid off by a past Government and never received pensions. I have read where people commented without being informed that the issue is clearing of arrears accumulated by past Governments and inherited by the present one. Rochas Okorocha has been trying to clear the arrears in phases. What he is trying to do with the 60% cut is to pay off every arrears completely and free the next Governor from the burden of pension arrears. I am not in support of 40% as it's too marginal but we should blame those who created the arrears like Mbakwe and Udenwa as well as Ohakim who never for once cleared some part of the arrears while he held sway than to use it to indict innocent Okorocha who is only trying to help. |

Op how irresponsible can you get? Like the first poster also said I think you might be suffering from the side effects of Rocha's rice There were federal roads constructed by ohakim of which Rocha's received refunds why didn't your master Okoroawusa return the money on the guise that he was not the one who constructed them . The nonsense you posted here can attract jaw shifting slaps and bone breaking beatings if you vocalise same in owerri . 5 Likes |

Op you're wrong on your assertion. NL is only a platform for copy and paste news. The news you are talking about is in the national dailies If you want us to believe it is false, please go to the national dailies to refute it but before then, 1. Why did he has to ask the same pensioners to go on air that their arrears have been paid while giving them less than one-third? 2. did he not ask them to forfeit 60℅? 1 Like |

YouthsPC0: I'm in Owerri right now and challenge you to prove me wrong. Rochas Okorocha is not responsible for the accumulated arrears. |

psucc: I am not in support of him cutting 60% of the arrears but I am only letting those unaware know that the pension arrears were inherited from Ohakim. |

ImoRiver:Nonsense and I say you are not only cruel but silly. Rochas isn't responsible for the accumulated arrears then who is? When he assumed office in May 2011 he inherited both assets and liabilities of Imo State Government. I didn't see him refuse to use the billions Ohakim left for him, so why should he not clear the arrears? Obasanjo wasn't totally responsible for all the accumulated debts to the Paris Club and other financial institutions but he cleared and settled the debt back then so why make an excuse for Rochas? Mind you Rochas has been in office for 67 months, isn't that enough to clear the arrears? Na only God go punish una. 3 Likes 1 Share |

kutchs: He was paying in installments till late 2014 when our economy became shaky. What he is trying to do is to negotiate down the arrears and clear it totally for the benefit of all especially the next Government after his. If the past Governments were paying in installments maybe it should have been reduced to 3 months by now. |

The OP is saying the fact. What he said is the actual thing though like him I don't support the formula. The government should pay at least 70% 1 Like |

Hunger and anything goes have allowed some people to be in total control by his appetite.I wonder how this post can draw a cotton wool to the eyes of viewers. Let just imagine that Rochas inherited pensioners unpaid stipends. He was voted in by the people to melt their tears .Should he continue blowing their eyes with pepper in his mouth? He governs with propaganda.Using scorpion to cain his people. His frivolous spending is enough to put smiles in the faces of his workers and pensioners if diverted for their welfare. Lies and deceit are his daily catechism. This should stop. |
Re: Rochas Okorocha Is Not Owing Pension by ImoRiver: 6:23pm On Jan 08, 2017 |
wiseguy: I concur in at least 70% but people are being misled with false stories and even some that know the truth are only playing politics with pensioners' welfare. |

Abagworo can you please get lost and vanish from existence. How can you start defending what you don't know the details using google and other internet search engines? The vanguard link you posted is part of Gov. Rochas wish lists that never happened, a media fabrication and no evidence subsist to this effect. You don't know the evil master of deception called Okorocha and his use of media propaganda to sell mischief. 3 Likes |

I Hate Poverty, Seeing Me In A Private Jet Shouldn’t Be A Big Deal – Okorocha Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of Imo State, has affirmed that there is no big deal for a government official to fly private jet. Speaking with SaharaTV on Saturday, Okocorcha said he hated poverty and injustice, adding that anyone criticizing private jet owner was poor. http://dailypost.ng/2015/06/28/i-hate-poverty-seeing-me-in-a-private-jet-shouldnt-be-a-big-deal-okorocha/ 1 Like |

ImoRiver: We are talking about reality and not the reporting of "intentions" by news media. Imagine someone quoting Prosper Uzoegbu's report on Nairaland and Facebook that okorocha cleared 40 years pension arrears in 2016 as a fact in 2020. www.nairaland.com/3518768/okorocha-clears-40-years-pension All these never happened rather were just speculation 1 Like |

wiseguy:Why should retired workers be made to forfeit their entitlements because of the irresponsibility of political leaders whether past or present (who will never forfeit a dime of their massive entitlements)?... Anything other than 100% payment is immoral. It is however very important for the world to know that the pension arrears in question were actually accumulated from past administrations which most of the Rochas haters today are labelling saints. |
Re: Rochas Okorocha Is Not Owing Pension by kutchs: 10:59pm On Jan 08, 2017 |
ImoRiver:Negotiate down the arrears you said? I don't want to believe you actually wrote this but for the purpose of argument I will assume you did. Pension is an ex-workers entitlement, a right which the law gaurantees him. He depends on his pension to pay his bills and no responsible govt especially one that prides itself as being workers friendly should toy with that. At the useless and wasteful Opera Imo and ada Imo beauty pageant last month, Rochas was busy throwing money around like it grows on a tree at govt house yet he can't pay pensioners. |
