We really dont need to learn from developed countries in the world to kickstart Nigerias development program
1 Lagos state the smallest state in Nigeria generates the highest IGR in Nigeria
2 It is the state with the most diversified economic structure in Nigeria
3 It has shown leadership to the Nigerian society by allowing individuals from other states to win and contest elections
4 It attracts the best human capital to itself from other parts of the country
5 The Nigerian budget would probably not be approved till March, and a state is about to start implementing her own.
6 The budget size for a single state makes mockery of our national budget
7 The partnership that brought Lake Rice into play between Lagos and a northern state shown that our national leaders are simply clueless despite having more resources at their disposal.

I walk around bro.Do you also know that Lagos state made a declaration that they want to rehabilitate 118 roads in Lagos?Have they executed them?

You walk around and you can't see any work being done? That is strange, even the blind can feel the impact of Ambode in Lagos no matter how little.

Then you have not been walking round enough bro. If ur claim as to walking around fairly well enough is to be true, then u would have noticed the roads the state government is constructing in various locations. I do not work with the state government, but at least I can attest to some of the road constructions that have have been done and those that are still on going. The Bus stop at Iyana Oworo at the tail end of the third mainland bridge alone solved a whole lot of headache for those of us plying mainland to island daily. Aside that, go to places like ajasa command/meiran road and ask them wassup. The beauty of this government is construction of good road networks in the local areas of the state , not island as usual

Education has d highest share of d budget.....hope day improve d sector....both secondary and tertiary institution
Believe me, even when I was in secondary school the standard of Education in government secondary schools in Lagos was far better than other states compared. Going by further trends afterward am sure at has only gotten better, especially during and after the era of Sosan supervising the education ministry

Those funds cannot be accounted for.

I'm just happy for the budgeted sum, if the budgeted sum can be realised and used for purposes meant for, it will be for the good of all.

Try to be positive. We have no were else to run to. No country will take you in. If Nigeria develops, it for the good of us all

Previous budgets that doubles this sum have not been utilized.

Can U do us a favour and list numbers of such road projects that were started by Ambode's government that has been abandoned and not completed?

In my own opinion, Lagos state is not suppose to be a state after the capital was transferred to Abuja. They should have made it an Annex of the countries capital or call it Nigeria's industrial capital cos I don't see what really the state govt is doing to to generate such huge money used for budget. 90% of internally generated revenue are of federal standard and comes from all parts of the country. every state imports through Lagos and they indirectly enjoy the wealth of the whole nation. So many cooperate headquarters are all in Lagos... The state govt sing praises from doing nothing to generate revenue. The revenues are federal government made.
NB: I said in my own opinion
Lagos should be industrial capital of Nigeria and should be removed from state level.

The income from the Port goes to Federal government, yet has to contend with frequent road repairs. All of the V.A.T goes to the federal government, Lagos asked for 1% which was rejected on the floor of the house. A large chunk of the income from Lagos goes to the federation purse, yet Lagos gets nothing.

I will gladly want to learn from you... could you please list for me and here how Lagos state govt generate their IGR. investigate also about the Ports, then you will understand how Lagos state makes lots of money through it. 90% of projects in Lagos are all federal and company owned. How are they making their money to have a budget of about 800billion while states like PH and Kano have less than 450billion.

I wish i had the time to point out so many things to you but i'll try to just make some salient points
1. Lagos makes good use of it's population, attracts the biggest hotel brands in the world, has the largest market, has the best state security apparatus, entertainment capital of the country....now all these will continue to bring people to Lagos and guess what...they pay tax as long as they live and work in Lagos, they also pay Land use charges and other sundary fees to the state government , yet do you know that it's still about only 30% of taxable adults pay tax in Lagos, all the biggest companies feel safe in Lagos and they also pay personnel income tax to the govt..
If we were practising true fiscal federalism, Lagoswould be rich enough to bail out even the FG, you can send me a mail for a more detailed explanation.

NB: I said in my own opinion

As much as I respect your opinion, if the truth must be said, you are ignorant, let me deal with the issues you raised.

Lagos is successful because of good leadership and the feat of Lagos can be replicated anywhere else.

From Tinubu to Ambode have been excellent administrators regardless of some Federal infrastructures in the state, infact the more people you accommodate, the more pressure you have on social infrastructure, look at Lagos does it look dilapidated to you while handling MMA and NPA pressures?

FG doesn't build NPA in your state to decongest Apapa for you, that is where astute state leadership comes in, if MMA was in Rivers state, it would have 100 tout out posts in it making things unbearable for passengers.

You can not vote a block head like Fayose and expect development, you can not vote a tout like Wike and expect development , you can not vote an Oracle like Ochendo and expect development, it is practically impossible.

You mentioned corporate headquarters of companies if you dont site it in Lagos or Abuja, where else?
Some of those companies have operations in Rivers state can you really operate peacefully in Rivers the way you would in Lagos?

Two towns Omoku and Ogoni are deserted in Rivers state, never mind that Omoku is home to 4 lucrative oil fields, companies maintain skeletal operations there while everything is run from Lagos, do you blame them?
Every morning, headless humans litter the streets of Omoku.

Experts can't come close to a jetty let alone creeks, you cant use a Truck without police escort else you become porridge for touts.

Touts everywhere, by population density, Lagos was supposed to have the highest number of bandits than elsewhere yet the reverse is the case.

The government is not a celestial feeding bottle, its duty is primarily to create the enabling environment for us to succeed, when a Governor becomes an accessory to chaos, what do you expect of his state?

The Rivers state house of Assembly has 9 members under the federal government Amnesty programme, can you imagine a society such charlatans have built?

Like or hate, Lagos is everything a sane clime should be.
